Mads has said before that he keeps the video's at around the 20 minute mark because the KZbin data on video's that are longer have fewer viewers and do not do as well. Back when he was doing Athena he had a few longer ones and that was when he explained his decision to keep them closer to the 20 minute mark.

Fluoridic Acid is nothing to fool with, years ago I worked in a welding shop building aluminum docks and gangways. To clean them we used stainless wire brushes and acid to brighten them up. I had gloves on but developed a leak and some got into my cuticle. Didn't feel anything right away, but later that evening my hand and arm were in a lot of pain, went to the emergency room. My boss brought the information in and they started the treatment by running an IV of calcium for 12 hours. Had I waited till morning I would have lost my part of if not my whole arm. Come to find out that acid eats the calcium in your system. So definitely be careful, maybe a heavier pair of gloves next time. Keep up the great work!
@denisohbrien

seconded, viciously nasty stuff, a solid way to describe it is it goes through your skin with no effort then starts eating you from the inside out.
@michaelsummers8182
@michaelsummers8182 12 сағат бұрын
Thirded, hydroflouric acid spilt on your skin burns but even more scary, it can get into your bones through your skin and leach the calcium out of the bones, turning bone into jelly. Rodney The Tall is not wrong. Get some proper chemical handling gloves (those nitrile gloves are so not adequate), you need to cover your bare firearms and consider wearing a chemical worker apron. Not over dramatising, it’s nasty stuff. ehs.wisc.edu/wp-content/uploads/sites/1408/2020/08/SafeHandlingOfHydrogenFluorideAndHydrofluoricAcid.pdf

I have been working in the semiconductor process industry for many years. We always handled hydrofluoric acid (HF) with eye protection whenever we used it, working with gloves (heavy chemical type) and sticking them under the fume hood. We likely used a more concentrated version and told operators it would not stop etching down until the bone if it got on the skin.

I very much like that you've taken to sponsorships that are related to our lifestyle as opposed to online mental health, even though some of us would agree that one would need a mental checkup to be living on a boat full time. I always skip the ad breaks but I have not in your your last few vids. I can also vouch for Anker. I have some of their USB hubs and while they're not fancy, many years later they are still working. This unit in the ad looks interesting.

I look forward to your video every week. I was TIG welder for around 10 years. Used a Miller Gold Star water cooled machine with a foot pedal. If you don't mind using argon. Make up a y connection just before your flow meter, half goes to the flow meter, the other half go to a hose and then supply's argon as a backing gas, for 100 percent penetration. It will look better on the back side than the actual weld. Great videos!

two tips for the alu extrusion , one is take a file and knock off the sharp edges at entry/exit and two its take a rounded cold punch or similar and 'flair' the entry/exit , we also used to take a candle and run it along to lube the loading of the main rope tie, needed if you will be using wrap around instead of sewn.

Nice explanation of your priorities. Questions-If you are considering moving due to heat, how far north are you looking? Will that not require moving 2 boats and if motoring the cat, how long would that trip be in time? I do agree that memorializing your dog when naming the boat is a great idea. I also like White for the hull. Use color on the sails, accents and upholstery. You'll appreciate the white in tropical climates

Sooo, heat in the summer isn’t just a Florida problem. We live in Virginia and it is awful in July and August. The heat and humidity rival anything south of us. The Mason-Dixon Line is in Maryland, and having lived all up and down the East Coast, I think that is a pretty good mark to delineate between North and South. Although summers in The Jersey, Massachusetts and Delaware shores got hot, they were never blanketed in humidity where one couldn’t breathe. My suggestion go to the Chesapeake Bay and head up towards Baltimore. A special bonus is St. Michaels Island She Crab soup and watching the fireworks from you boat at Baltimore's inner Harbor on the fourth of July. Marina costs vary greatly!

I highly recommend Long Island Sound if you want to head somewhere cooler for the summer months. Captain's Cove Marina/boat yard is the cheapest storage. You won't find any boat yards in the northeast that will allow you to drop anything on the ground, though. Basically you will absolutely need to do dust collection during the oh glorious sanding if you head to New England.

Mads, why not install a mini split air conditioning system to allow you comfort inside in the Florida summer? You might look for suitable remote evaporators for zones and one condenser for the whole, which if you think about it might be nice for cruising too. Seems like your accommodating boatyard has advantages. By the way, love your channel and your work.

The BlueOne Pickling Paste is a mixture of Nitric (12-25%) and Hydrofluoric (5-12.5%) acids. While the HF is not near as concentrated as the typical 50% it is still wise to head the warnings. The trouble with HF is you don't sense any burning when it comes in contact with your skin. It just sits there and gets absorbed. It doesn't take a very large area of contaminated skin to cause a real medical issue if not promptly removed by washing. With gloves, eye protection and proper respect it should be safe to use. Worst case would be not realizing you spilled a bunch on your jeans or shirt. If you don't passivate the welds they will rust, the welding brings the iron in the stainless to the surface, the passivation removes the iron and other discolorations and reforms the chrome oxide protective layer.
