Beautiful wood. Should make the cabin look really nice. Someday maybe you can build a shed for your mill. That would protect it and extend its usability and life. I’ve seen in other “off griders” heat powered fans that sit on top of the wood stoves to circulate the heat around the room better. You may have them but I didn’t see them. Your pups love being in front of the stove. 😊

It really is a solid investment my friend, easily worth the investment if you have the trees to mill from your property. I'm sure it would be worth it even if you had to buy the logs too. Highly recommend the frontier mill as well. I think i saw this model on sale earlier this year for 3200 dollars. A steal in my mind
@davidvansickle5632 ай бұрын
Jay, I’m curious about your sawmill, 1) how many logs can you cut per blade? 2) is it expensive for blade sharpening? 3) what is the thinnest cut you can make? 1/2 inch 3/4 or 1”. Love watching and following you guys
@OffgridwithJayandJen2 ай бұрын
You can cut half inch for sure......anything really, it just depends on what you want. I made all the siding 7/8s this time. Last time I did one inch. I get 3-4 logs per blade. They would last longer if I could spray the dirt off the logs of peeled them, the dirty bark is what really dulls the blades. The poplar and maple i mill is harder than pine... I'm sure you could mill a lot more pine than this wood. The blades I bought were 250 dollars for a 15 pack of then last time I bought them.....but I'm sure they are more expensive now. I have not sharpened them yet, as I don't have a tool to do it.

@lannyhargrove this time of year I slow the videos down and enjoy the beauty of it all Lanny. Similar to spring maple syrup boiling the focus is the environment, not the task. In addition we do 100 little things to prep for winter, that just are not worthy of recording. Hope you can appreciate that. Best wishes my friend
