I flew Etihad this summer both in economy in a 787 and business the A380 and I will tell you that the service in Economy on my flight from Male to Abu Dhabi was 10000x better than my business class from Abu Dhabi to London. From not having my meal choice (despite being like on the 3 row in the business cabin) to a very unwelcoming flight attendant who asked me if I wanted to drink something only once for the entire flight which was around 6:30 hrs. She didn’t bother to come once after meal service. I had to get up and go to the galley everytime I needed something. Absolutely disappointed as I was really looking forward to flying them. Etihad is miles and miles behind Emirates. No comparison.

I had a gate upgrade from biz to first with Etihad and it was absolutely amazing. Attentive staff, refills of champagne, beautifully presented food and great privacy with the seat. My favorite airline.

Been a fan of your channel for a while Dan, don’t normally comment but had to on this one. I got a surprise upgrade to this first class last year on LHR-AUH and had to say this was, hands down, the best experience on board I ever had from the crew who took care of me, to food, hospitality and the cabin. Certainly the most memorable experience on board of all time so far, albeit only for 6 hours. I also love their business class, budget luxury for me. Keep up the good work with the channel!

As a relative commoner who's only taken 2 business class trips in their life, I was surprised that you said 7 hours in busines felt like a long time. I'm very fortunate to have flown Eithad business on one of those trips and it was amazing, I don't really know how a slightly bigger seat and a door would have changed that. The food was great, the IFE was good and the bed was awesome. First looks nice but not that much nicer.

Great video, brings back happy memories of summer going to Phuket flying Etihad via Abu-Dhabi with my family b class. 787/777-300ER(🤮)/787/A380 for my 50th. I got upgraded on 787 first time in my life and really impressed. Also loved business on 787. A380 business was ok, the lounge on board was fun but made arrival very busy. Anyway, hats of to you filming. I was like a kid in a sweet shop and tried to take photos for the kids. I was so embarrassed and really difficult without intruding on their peoples privacy! Next back to ANA the room! Keep up the great work!!

Just saw this great video 👍🏽 I’ve flown this a few times to IAD. Once from CMN the seats face different to use space better, the aisles have a slight bow to them. Also I love the walkway between the bathrooms.

Although the first class lounge is quite small, it is located within the much bigger business class lounge that spans over 3 storeys! There’re also some nice areas to relax in the business class lounge and a really cool sky lounge! If you had time, it would definitely be worth exploring the business class lounge as well!

Another great review as usual Dan. The onboard service and product definitely looks a distinct level above other Firsts - especially QF and BA - though at the expense of others … I wouldn’t be too impressed if I was one of the first Business Class passengers to board and found the locker space above my seat taken by someone from First. The lounge, too, although exclusive seemed underwhelming - especially when the spa is accessible directly within the lounge with other carriers .. but I’m starting to Nick-pick now!! Keep up the great work!

I just started watching and saw the question of people actually paying for a massage. I never saw one offered in a lounge, BUT last year at DFW (Dallas) during a layover I had a neck and shoulder massage before going into the lounge. I can't remember the price, but it wasn't that expensive. After the massage we went into the AA Flagship lounge before continuing on to RSW (Fort Myers).

Sitting backwards is much better if there is "unintended rapid deceleration event", but since it's more frequent for a acceleration for take off, facing forwards is overall more comfortable for passengers.

The amenity bag I was given on in F on an Etihad A380 back in 2016 is the only one I still use today. It was a nice woven wash bag, just the right size for a one night trip away.

A good crew really can make or break a flight. I fly economy, and for the first time, I saw what a difference crew can make. Two flight attendants both seemed to take notice of me and made sure I had drinks and enough food/snacks. It was so strange to be looked after, but very nice. Made the 9.5 hours go by much quicker.

The apricot Bellini is the best on Etihad 😜 Also, Steak and Frites is top class. Also flown backward facing on their livery multiple times. It’s quite nice actually and you forget about landing /take off as you feel it less.

i really enjoye open space cabins. I met the most interesting people and made a few very profitable deals just by conversing with my fellow first class passengers. One of my best friends I met on a LH first class trip from Frankfurt to Buenos Aires in 2005

Big difference. I flew Etihad economy AUH-ORD about ten years ago and was expecting something closer to Emirates or Qatar, but found it no better than a US legacy airline. That was before the airport renovation so a loud, overcrowded terminal to a bus gate to the 14 hour US legacy airline-tier flight.

nice to see the Etihad boarindg music get a mention - one of my favourite things is that music, the cold sented towel and that lemon-mint drink.. I may or may not have that boarding music on my phone. I rate that older (pre-apartment) Etihad seat above the equivalent on Emirates. The new lounge looks very nice, but I can't decide if it is a side-swap or a downgrade from the old F lounge with the spa right there. Either way, I can't wait to fly through and check the new terminal and lounge. (I'm picking EY over EK for the equivalent seat/trip, I prefer EY service and hard product - EK felt gaudy and at least in the EK seat pre-2019 it must have power gear that heats the drink storage. The firstest of first world and first class problems, but there we are)

Hi Dan, I flew this cabin (First) from AUH to JFK 2 weeks ago and have to say it was one of the worst first class experience I've had. Etihad only treats their "Residence" customers as their first class. The rest are second/third grade. There is practically no ground service (from lounge to Airplane) for first class passengers and this is felt more when you fly out of the US pre-cleared gates. FAs can make or break your experience and My FAs in my flight were worse than United Business Class FAs. The assigned FAs simply seemed disinterested and it was felt in the service. I made a video 4 months ago after flying the A380 apartment and said it was one of the best, but now after flying this cabin, I am downgrading Etihad in my list.
