Alan Bartram has a great voice! I love that The Travelin' McCourys highlights each of the band members.

My absolute new favorite song that I can't get out of my head.❤❤❤❤❤❤ LOVE IT!
@rickkantola5475 Жыл бұрын
It's not a new song but a cover of a song from 1985 by The Waterboys from the album "This is the Sea". Thier album "Fishermen's Blues' is particularly good as well. I was fortunate enough to see them twice on that tour.... brilliant shows.

I pictured a rainbow You held it in your hands I had flashes But you saw the plan I wandered out in the world for years While you just stayed in your room I saw the crescent You saw the whole of the moon The whole of the moon You were there at the turnstiles With the wind at your heels You stretched for the stars And you know how it feels To reach too high Too far Too soon You saw the whole of the moon I was grounded While you filled the skies I was dumbfounded by truths You cut through lies I saw the rain-dirty valley You saw Brigadoon I saw the crescent You saw the whole of the moon I spoke about wings You just flew I wondered, I guessed and I tried You just knew I sighed But you swooned I saw the crescent You saw the whole of the moon The whole of the moon With a torch in your pocket And the wind at your heels You climbed on the ladder And you know how it feels To get too high Too far Too soon You saw the whole of the moon The whole of the moon Unicorns and cannonballs Palaces and piers Towers, trumpets, and tenements Wide oceans full of tears Flags, rags, ferry boats Scimitars and scarves Every precious dream and vision Underneath the stars Yes, you climbed on the ladder With the wind in your sails You came like a comet Blazing your trail Too high Too far Too soon You saw the whole of the moon The whole of the moon (by Mike Scott & The Waterboys)

I live in a town called "Crescent" on the edge of a town called "Moon" right outside of Pittsburgh. This song knocks me into a different place every time I listen to it, and that's a lot. Absolutely gorgeous.

Fabulous! I don't know who first had the idea to tackle songs that began life in other musical genres with a bluegrass treatment but it's a great idea, one that will increase the appreciation of bluegrass.
@Emando_com Жыл бұрын
Well, since Bill Monroe covered Jimmie Rodgers songs, I'd say the idea goes back to the very beginning.
@stevegordon8474 Жыл бұрын
@@Emando_comGood point! I like Jimmie Rodgers (as does Jimmie Dale Gilmore whom has accepted his influence) but what would you say is the tradition that Rodgers represents if not country music? Or was Rodgers more representative of popular music in his day? I guess what I'm trying to ask is: is Rodgers' influence on Bill Monroe the same as the McCourys embracing popular music (outside of country music) of today? I'm interested in what you think because you made a great point.

Great sounding harmony and musical ability..i love bluegrass songs that cover other genres of music..adds another dimension to the song..like someone commented..this song just easy to hear and flows like water..great job band..no autotune.no loud guitars or drums or screaming vocals..just raw talent personified in the simplest form..magical..try learning the words to that song..hard assignment but masterfully done by a non lead singer

What song is this?
@Emando_com Жыл бұрын
It's a fantastic song, but something's missing. For me, the vocals are far too polite. I understand that not everyone can sing as passionately as Mike Scott, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't try.
