I'm with you on this, but don't forget the Highwaymen: Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson. THAT is a lineup. Before Led Zeppelin released their first album, they were called a supergroup. They had all earned reputations as sessions musicians, and had worked together in various combinations. Then there's Monsters of Folk. Not the same star power, but they made on Hell of a good album.

Also, they the did same thing on their most recent No Doubt "Sunday Morning " reaction, asking what genre was the group (they are new wave, ska-punk, alternative rock). It's like a repeat question. As we all told them in the comments on several other No Doubt videos that they've reacted to already over many months. And other bands like them (ska-punk) they've reacted to like Real Big Fish, Sublime, Mighty Bosstones, Rancid, Madness, etc. We all left comments on those videos, too on those bands musical style. They should have a pretty good idea on ska, ska-punk by now. Ska, reggae, dancehall, punk rock fusion. 🎷 🎸 🕺

Per Songfacts This was the first single from The Traveling Wilburys, a supergroup created by George Harrison and Jeff Lynne. Initially an informal grouping with Roy Orbison and Tom Petty, they got together at Bob Dylan's Santa Monica, California, studio to quickly record an additional track as a B-side for the single release of Harrison's song "This Is Love." "Handle With Care" was the song they came up with, which Harrison and his record company immediately realized was too good to be released as merely a B-side. The five superstars decided to form a band and make an entire album, recording nine more songs at Dave Stewart's (of Eurythmics) house in Los Angeles in a 10-day window when they were all available. "Handle With Care" is a phrase that is sometimes stamped onto boxes to let delivery personnel know that the contents are fragile. In this song, the singer must be handled with care because he's been hurt in the past. Bob Dylan's studio, where they recorded the song, was in his garage, and George Harrison noticed a box that was marked "Handle With Care," thus inspiring the lyric.

Amazing as Orbison was, his music hasn't endured in the popular culture as much as some others from that era. As to what they've been listening to - have you seen the channel before? @@neilmartin99 Well aren't you special. If you really want to make a fair comparison, you should be deeply familiar with lots of artists back to the 1930s. How well up are you on Shep Fields, or Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians? The Boswell Sisters? You've been listening to this stuff for nearly 50 years, they've been doing it for a couple. Music is a broad church, maybe other people have very different experiences to your own. We should be welcoming new listeners, not trying to put them down.

@@theritchie2173 When I was their age, I was very familiar with the top musicians from several eras. Then again, I didn't have a KZbin channel with several thousand followers. Really...after doing this for this long and they still don't know the f George Harrison is? Did you hear those two butcher the reaction to Everybody Hurts by REM recently? They spent the entire review on Stipe's vocal inflections and completely missed the point of the song. How the hell does that even happen? The song meaning is so obvious. And don't compare the significance of music in the 30's and 40's to the music of the 60's and 70's in terms of historical relevance and importance. That's why you see young kids today wearing Beatles or Pink Floyd t-shirts. It was that influential. When I was growing up, kids certainly didn't wear Billie Holiday t-shirts.

You guys need to do some Roy Orbison reactions if you haven't already. Pretty Woman, Crying, In Dreams, Only the Lonely, Blue Bayou, and the one he recorded right before he died, You Got It. The man has a voice like no other. Bruce Springsteen did his induction speech for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and mentioned driving in the back of a truck for hours to go see him in concert and that he wanted to sing like Roy but that nobody sings like Roy. Roy came out of Sun Studios along with Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash. He was one of the few American acts to weather the British Invasion, and even before that occurred, he toured with the Beatles, in the UK, back in 1963, and apparently some of the Beatles wondered how they were going to follow Roy. Lennon's early work was inspired by Roy and then decades later Harrison would join him in a super group called The Travelling Wilberys.

The way George told it, he and Jeff were going to lunch in LA, Jeff calls Roy and asks him to join them, George gets a call from a record co in Europe and says "They need a song for the B Side of This Is Love", now they need a studio, George calls Bob "hey can we record a song in your garage?", sure come on over, Roy asks to tag along, George says "I have to pickup my guitar at Toms house", Tom wants to tag, get to Bobs and History

Yes and 3 of those absolute legends have already passed on. Roy Orbison, you know Pretty Woman?, passed between this their first and the second song they put out, End of the Line. There is actually a tribute to Roy with the famous guitar in a rocking chair during the taping. Then George Harrison, the Beatles legend followed by Tom Petty, the one in the hat. They will never be again but live on in all their many hits and appearances on the world stage. Don’t forget Jeff Lynn also, the one with all the hair. My God and I recall the word is George Harrison the only one who could talk to Bob Dillon like this told Bob to “check his ego at the door”.

The second guy is the world famous Roy Orbison. The guy that Elvis pressley said was the world's best singer. Roy and Elvis were the only 2 people in history to have 2 albums in the top 10 at the same time after they died. The title Handle me with Care they got from the wooden crate that Handle with Care was printed on.

Brad: what is this theme of handle me with care? The story goes, though the truth of it is often flacky with guys like these, that they got together jamming in Dylan's recording studio and George Harrison said that he had a melody for a song for the second side of his new single release but no lyrics. He said to Dylan something like "You're the guy with lyrics, give me something". Dylan looked around, saw a cardboard box in the corner with "Handle with Care" printed on it. That was the starting point for the song. I think Lex has something there with her idea of each individual verse being related to that singers experience in the music industry. The obvious one is the "second guy" singing "I'm so tired of being lonely" obviously refering to his big hit "Only the Lonely" and that his songs were often sad love songs. I don't know if you've reacted to Roy Orbison but, if not, you could take a look. He had one of the most versatile voices of the time and there are any number of great songs from him.

Holy Guacamole, that second guy is Roy Orbison, you'll have to look him up, among his gems are "Pretty Woman" "Only The Lonely" "In Dreams" "Crying" there's a lot, he died after this video came out and was not in future videos, Roy Orbison had been recording since the late 50's, was huge in the 60's, fell off the radar in the 70's and in the mid 80's made a big comeback, check out "You Got It" and "Mystery Girl" from this period, as a plus, check out Roy Orbison Black and White Night, a special taped with several big stars, Bruce Springsteen and Jackson Brown, T Bone Burnett, Bonnie Rait, Tom Waits, Elvis Costello and watch that version of Pretty Woman....Way back then, somebody asked Elvis Presley how it felt to be the best singer in the world, he answered, I don't know, ask Roy Orbison.

Tom Petty backing vocals and acoustic guitar, Bob Dylan, backing vocals, acoustic guitar, Harmonica, Jeff Lynne, backing vocals (overdubbed backing parts) electric and acoustic guitars, bass guitar, percussion, co-producer, Jim Keltner, drums, not in video, Ian Wallace, toms. Orbison died shortly after cutting this album, and, in fact, before the video for the album's 2nd single, End of the Line, in which he also shared lead vocals, was filmed.

the way it all came together was crazy....jeff lynn and george harrison were out to dinner....roy orbison was at the same LA restaurant, or something.....george had just come out with an album that jeff lynn hd produced (hes a brilliant producer), and had one song he wanted to do as a single, or something, or a poce of a somg (the song in this video)....jeff and george wanted to work on it, roy was now eating with them....they needed a studio, george knew bob dylan had one at his house, he calls bob, bob rarely, if ever, answers the phone, this time he miraculously did, next thing they knew bob's in the group......george needed one of his guitars, a very specific one he had let tom petty borrow, he goes over to tom's to get it....next thing u know, tom's in the band....and i forget the plot twist that brought the drummer into the band.....anyway, between harrison, dylan, petty, and lynn, they finish off the somg, taking the title from a moving box, cuz whoever's house they were at had just moved , the box said "handle with care".....anyway, they had such fun writjg that song as a team/group, they deceided to make an album, as heorge put it he said "why dont we just write 10, or 11 mkre and do a whole album".....and just like that, by total chance, on of tne coolest groups in all of rock history was formed

The story of this band forming is so cool... Won't even try to get it all straight...It started with George going to Bob's house to record a song but he had to pick up a guitar, the guy he was with said I wanna go...When he was picking up his guitar that guy said I wanna go. when they got to Bobs, they all wanted to record with George...Song came out great & they thought they should make an album but Bob had his first tour in many years starting in 2 weeks So they recorded the album, wrote & recorded one complete song per day for 9 day & and we got the album...Fate

Formation of "The Traveling Wilburys" was an accident. George Harrison recorded a European single release of another song in 1988, and the record producers wanted another song for side B. Harrison borrowed Dylan's recording studio in his garage. Dylan was barbequing hearing Harrison playing his guitar, and Harrison asks, "Bob you're the poet, give me lyrics for this song", Dylan replied, "give me the song title, and I'll give you lyrics". Harrison looks in the garage and sees a shipping carton with a sticker across it saying "Handle With Care". He told Dylan the title was "Handle With Care". As their discussion was happening Roy Orbisson, and Jeff Lynne arrived and join in with their input, and lastly Tom Petty shows up, and says, "Are you guys recording together behind my back? They said no you're welcomed to join in. The producers said "Handle With Care" was too good, an A side song, and couldn't be put on side B.

George Harrison (Beatles), Tom Petty (Heartbreakers), Jeff Lynne (E.L.O.), Bob Dylan (the legend), and Roy Orbison (best voice in rock and roll), Jim Keltner (drummer extrodinaire). Probably the only real super group. They got together at Bob Dylan's house since he had a recording studio. Written and recorded in one day. Harrison looked at Bob Dylan and said something like "give us some lyrics you great lyricist." Bob asked him what the name of the song was. Harrison looked around the garage and saw a box with "Handle With Care" written on it. Now you know what the title means.
