@petegasper28069 ай бұрын
Jim Keltner was Georhe Harrisons drummer from 1973 untill he died. He was even in the Bangladesh concert in 1971 as George did not trust the heavily drinking Ringo Star. The next album had Jim Keltner playing on it or you can say he was Georges drummer since 1971 as They released an album from the concert. Jim Keltner even left on of his drum sets in The Friar Park studio as he knew he would come there all the time and it was too much work to ship it back to US. In George Harrisons 120 room castle Friar park the best studio in England was located. Many groups came there to record their music, usually living in the lodges around the castle. There were 16 houses located on the promises and the enormous castle George lived in which is the most beatiful home any rock musician has ever had with 250 000 Square meter garden. Or their was actually 7 gardens on the property. That castle snd its gardens must be worth billions of Dollars by now.

It's funny to hear George say that part of the magic was this attitude of 'we don't really give a damn' that made it fun. Ironically, all of these guys give BIG damn. They put their best efforts into these songs. It's the weight of the music business being off their backs that makes this great music possible.

I get what you're saying, but I think the point is that quality is intrinsic for the true artist. And you're right, the 'don't give a damn' is about industry or commercial expectations. In layman's terms, they love their jobs, but the work is not drudgery.

Not sure who started it Col. Parker, Liz Taylor, or someone before them, but the idea that not giving interviews makes you more in demand and mysterious is sad. There are a few entertainers that have done almost no interviews, Dylan being one of them, which in the long run will be unfortunate for those interested in him years from now. Elvis did hardly any interviews, never appeared on Carson and such, but he has hundreds of videos of his performances. Elvis lives on strongly due to all of his recorded performances. I guess my point is... if you are a performer, record it and don't shy away from interviews... decades from now people will be interested.
@Hexon6610 ай бұрын
I understand what you're saying, but to be honest, Dylan's 1965 San Francisco interview is all we ever need! I love Dylan, and probably have learned more about his life and loves than I ever wanted to, but I don't really care about artists doing interviews to shill product. (I'd never seen *this* until today!). And I think Dylan, specifically, has been pretty clear that he's *not* going to explain meanings of songs (and if he does you can't trust that's just not making stuff up!). The music is the legacy, and future generations will find quality. And if they don't, it's their loss for not looking hard enough.
