When I tuck the trail arm in first in the downswing I get great lag and distance. I have been working on setting early and holding the trail wrist extension and had a light bulb moment thought that rotating the extended trail list would square the face while keeping the club on plane. This is the first time I've seen it mentioned. It seems to be recent theory that in the 9 oclock delivery position the club face should be square to the plane and not open. Good job, will try out the elbows close together thought.

Why does my coach want me to lead with left arm and turn off right arm (trail arm). Is it just diff school of teaching?

Hey! Not sure---what each student NEEDs depends on what they are CURRENTLY DOING....so that may be great advice for you. I would need to see your swing to say for sure whats best for ya!

Is this just for irons?

No, but with the driver since you are farther behind the ball the club releases sooner. This has changed my game for the better particularly with the driver as it shallows the clubs out especially the longer clubs. Also it’s almost impossible to come over the top this way, at least for me it is. I need to really feel this in the initial transition down, If i dont i tend to come over the top a little
