I just did Taglit this January and the Israelis on the trip were awesome! They were so friendly, and happy that we came to Israel during these difficult times. I met so many cool people. It was the trip of a lifetime and I can’t wait to go back!

The pace of your speaking was just slow enough that I did not have to slow down the playback speed and still understand (most) of your Hebrew 'conversation'.

I did Taglit as part of a Ukrainian group when I was 20 (hint: some time ago when Ukrainians almost never left the country for lack of passports or money). It was my first time abroad and it was absolutely overwhelming. It was my first time in a hotel, and it was a really good 4-star hotel with loads of food! It was also Shabbat and I got to see the elevator that stops on every floor! This was during a conflict with Lebanon so some places were closed and we had to change the route last minute and stay three days in Zichron Yakov. We also had soldiers accompanying us that spoke some Russian. They were very happy to join us :) I also remember a huge event on the last day, a disco in the open with, I believe, over 2000 participants from all over the world together, Americans, French, British, a lot of alcohol. It was the time when Gilad Shalit was kidnapped so there was a minute of prayer of him where all these thousands of people prayed together. Also, a night in the desert with the bedouins and camels (first time I saw camels so close), and sunrise at Masada andnd placing notes in the Western Wall. In short, for someone an experience like that as a first trip abroad, man, this was absolutely sick! I think, two people from the group made Aliyah after the trip.

Great video, thank you so much. I first went to Israel when I was young, so no Taglit for me, and I've been back another three times.

Actually the age limit is now 26 again, they phased out the "32 years old" part again.

Great video, just a small correction -- for all Jews it is possible to do birthright with only one Jewish grandparent not only for those from the former Soviet union. It's the same criteria as Israel uses to define who is Jewish for aliyah which is having at least one Jewish grandparent

Amazing video, as aways! It's worth adding for those who learn and don't know: the word 'taglit' (תגלית) means the same thing as 'khasifa' (חשיפה), meaning: 'discovery'; תגלית - מציאת משהו חדש. The English name may be misleading :)
@PieceofHebrew8 ай бұрын

Birthright? What about the birthright of Palestinian refugees to their land after the Nakba?
@eliasmai61709 ай бұрын
is not wrong. The Jews purchased the land from Palestinians, and the partition of the land was offered, and the Palestinians started attacking Israel. Palestinians and the Arabs lost. End of story.
@MLMandell8 ай бұрын
Israel represents about 1% of the land mass of the Arab world. About half the Jews who live in Israel were expelled from Arab countries and lost everything, after living in those countries for hundreds if not thousands of years. You'd think that after 75 years that 22 Arab countries would find room to integrate Palestinian Arabs and give them full rights of citizenship as Israel has given to those Jews expelled from Arab countries.
