Dan patch and Mission Brief were faster for their era and the both of them were better bred especially Mission Brief with the entire lineage all world champions all the way back to Ima Lula. Remember they never took Mission Brief to the Red Mile for a time trial. She jogged in a 1:50.3 at The Red Mile as a two year old October 2nd 2013 a record that will outlast any of Secretariat's records. Secretariat never achieved the moniker "the freak of nature" like Mission Brief.

@salicemccool92686 жыл бұрын
+STANLEY PARANORMAL I feel this would be unfair to owners, who want their horses trained by the best. And the 10% of the purse that goes to a trainer isn't a huge cut, although I realize it's a lot of money when it comes to stakes races. Aside from these issues, unless the best-qualified horses - regardless of their connections - are entered in a race, its results would always be subject to debate.

Racing has lost it's shine to the American public. Crowds are down and track owners trying to get faster times have made the surfaces dangerous to the delicate limbs of today's thoroughbreds. IMHO, if you watch the CBS Documentary on KZbin, they are looking at all of the horses that were running the Belmont before the race. Sham was the only horse with cold wraps on his legs! I believe he held his left rear leg up. I am a Secretariat fan all the way. However, Sham was a great horse. I truly believe that leg was really bothering him, and the way he was cropped to death was IMHO inhumane. There was no horse running that day who could have caught up to Secretariat, why beat them?

+Amanda Kelly While I acknowledge the agony of three and a half decades (waited 18 years myself, since really learning what the Triple Crown was during Silver Charm's attempt), I question calling it a curse. I say they've let the breed weaken, with all the focus on fractious speed, and that made the Triple Crown that much harder to achieve, similar to England's. On a happier note, a horse came close to winning England's Triple Crown a few years ago, so it can also still be done, if good enough.

I guess they have to make a new documentary now that American Pharoah won the Triple Crown!

+Genuine Risk Love your "name!" My friend & I screamed so loudly while watching Genny win the Derby that the guys next door broke into my house armed with baseball bats, to "save" us! I'm sort of glad she was beaten fairly in the Belmont; if she hadn't been, that SOB Cordero's having blatantly (IMO) fouled her on Codex in the Preakness would be much, much tougher to live with.

After today they'll have to add both American Pharaoh and Justify

I don't like the Spectacular Bid story (blame it on the jockey)... but what do I know? I'm just a big fan, but no expert...

Did you see the difference between Sham and Secretariat? Secretariat was twice the width as Sham. That poor guy never stood a chance!
@sholland42 Жыл бұрын
Sham was a special horse, but no match, no horse could compete with secretariat.

I feel bad watching this, so I'm out. But not before I say there will *never* be another Big Red! He rose above the cruel and petty world of racing and propelled himself to immortality.

Yes, he knew racing against him was pointless.

He was not a triple crown winner 🏇🐴🐎

For the announcer, the racegoers and the historians the line needs to be changed to "he's moving like a well oiled machine" Please rewrite all the historical writings about Secretariat and tell them parkerbohnn aka Tommy Tutalidge says it's "well oiled machine" not tremendous machine.
