Argyrus: I know this was posted a long time ago, but like the narrator, I read that Athena offered Paris wisdom. Not that there aren't different versions of the myths. But, I wonder about this version because Athena is the Goddess of Defensive Warfare, etc. Ares is the God of War, particularly Offensive War, in direct opposition to Athena. So, Athena couldn't and wouldn't offer him victory in offensive war. Only defensive warfare. That seems a bad offer from the Goddess of Wisdom, doesn't it? This is asked in fun and curiosity. No argument meant. haha

@@LA_HA The Athena-Ares distinction isn't between offensive and defensive warfare, but between skill at arms and skillful strategy. Athena couldn't make Paris a mighty warrior, but she could make him a great general.

Talking about the mythology with the Greek gods kind of puts a damper on the actual hisoric. war. There was obviously a war, there is always truth behind a legend that huge. Troy was located at a perfect stratigic location.

Oh definitely there was a war however I think the war was less a war and more a raid like how the Vikings kept raiding England. I believe Troy was originally called illum? And if I'm remembering correctly there's clay letters from Troy's ruler to the Hittites asking for them to send help as the raids were getting more and more aggressive.

Well a video on just the known history would be kinda boring, apart from the cities destruction and sparse mentions in Hittite record there’s basically nothing else we know for sure. Archeology can’t always uncover that much history especially if there’s no reliable primary source to correlate the finds. To put it simply The legend is bigger than history
