No argument from me . . I've always thought that these were the best looking of the Chevy trucks - maybe even better looking than the '70 C10 I had for twenty years and had it restored.

I love these Trucks. My father bought me a 1992. And I'm currently restoring it. The 454 SS was my favorite in the early 2000s. So I can't wait to drive it finally.

The blue crew-cab dually in the picture @3:30 is the older (pre GMT-400) "square-body" style. The higher capacity trucks were a year or two behind the half-tons in making the platform switch, with the 2wd 3500 dually being the last model to make the switch. The dead giveaway is the flat or "square" front end.... the grill, bumper, and hood are nearly flat across the front unlike the GMT-400s with the curve to 'em from the center out to the sides. The front of the hood is nearly a straight line, rather than being a curve.

Great review! Found myself a 1 owner 1992 k2500 with the same 2 tone blue paint AND same running board. How cool is that ! Really love driving it, single cab with 60/40 split seats. Under 100k, built in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada plant. Even the light bulbs are stamped 1992 and still working!! Wouldn't buy a new truck, too expensive and hard to fix at home.

I have a 1992 Chevrolet Silverado 2 tone smoke blue metallic and white, all power options with 5.7 (350) and highway gears (3.08) long legged ratio 😅 great truck i love it! My uncle bought it newand my cousin gave it to me after my uncle passed. I drive it daily

Where did you get 213HP from? Also, the 454 was a regular option in the C/K 2500 & 3500. The pre-95 interior was a big comfort upgrade from the previous generation as was the suspension. It was a response to people using these vehicles for more than just payload and towing. It was a huge success that led to further refinement, which was an even bigger success from the mid 90's to today. The GMT400 series really kinda paved the road for where we are today with pick ups and full size SUVs.

Love these old trucks. You are correct about it being a truck for hauling and towing. My 2023 Silverado is nice but i really dont want a big computer screen. Just 4 wheel drive and a V8.

My wife and I bought our 1990 k1500 silverado new and to date the odo reads 524,685 miles. One tone smoke blue metallic exterior with the blue interior. The 90 still does a lot of the daily driver duties during the week and weekends. After 34 years we're glad we bought it. 🫡🫡

My 88 was a government fleet copo order for a back east corn farmer o got in 1998 as my first truck but it was a fully optioned black with blue interior low back cloth bucket seats and console like youd see in a suburban or blazer of the era 1500 4x4 ordered with a th400 trans 5.7 v8 410 rear gears this thing was screaming revs at 65mph but that drivetrain combo had incredible power and acceleration roast the 35x 12.5 wide bfg first gen all terraint TAs great truck gas was only $1.31 gallon back then never cared about fuel consumption in the late 90s i loves that truck i love my current 2009 gmc sierra 2500 crew 4x4 duramax but that 88 1500 was the shit... i ordered the european 1 piece glass headlight lenses cause in germany headlights all had to be glass and non sealed beams so basically you got the 200s era generato headlight harness with replacable bulbs that went into what looked like a 1995s front assemblys but the lenses were glass not plastic as i stated for export reassons but i had family in germany and i found about the lenses from them because they had a small rural farm outside Munich called ULM and they themselves had bought a 89 1500 farm truck and it had these headlights as well.

My uncle bought an '88 brand new. To me it was awesome, and I was jealous of my cousins who got to ride in it all the time. I think that the advertising at the time called it the "big bear" truck or something like that.

Best looking IMHO 55-59 30s-54 60-66 67-72 88-98 73-87 My favorite all around for practicality and looks is 71-72
@KevinRichards-my5oj7 ай бұрын
When those OBSs were first introduced in 1988, they only came in plain & new extended cab pickup models at the time because the crew cab pickup & SUV models with the previous square body design were still in production up through 1991.
@AlphaShark7 ай бұрын
Yeah I forgot to mention that! Because I thought it was odd that the Ram brand rolls over their older trucks but I found out in researching this that Chevy did that all those years ago!
@skunkworks9-38 ай бұрын
Thats a beautiful obs but she sure isnt a square body. That was the previous gen that ran from 73-87. Cateye are my favorite then the obs then square body. Mainly because cateye were coming out when I got out of school so they were the hottness at the time.

I know some people love these trucks but I can’t stand how they look or drive. They’re just kinda soft and wallowy riding and the styling is not for me. I’m more of a 2nd gen ram guy when it comes to trucks from the 90’s.
