Of course, we are retired and can travel any time of the year and generally avoid the summer months as we would rather escape the Arizona sun to the mountains of Utah. Prefer HAL, Celebrity and Princess but will consider most lines. Will NOT consider Costa or NCL.

Prices have gone down in the last several months, but we also booked October 2022 for December 2024 for 2 adults and are paying $3100 for an ocean balcony. Our flight was $800 total, and our hotel night before is $250. We did not book any specialty dining, and since we are Diamond, we use our 4 free drinks a day. We did get the soda package at $164 and bottled water at $31.84. Before we get on the boat we are at $4445 but our plans are to keep it simple since there is so much free food. If you think about it, where else can you get all that entertainment, food, pools, and fun for under 5K for a full week total? Thank you for all the amazing videos on Icon, we can't wait!

I understand that and this is definitely the only one we had even considered booking at this price and especially the inaugural sailing. We typically get free or heavily discounted ones from the casino program but this one we felt compelled I guess. Unfortunately as you pointed out this will actually take the place of another this year probably.

Wife and I were on the third sailing. Cost more than most cruises, we had Large Balcony Room and drink package. Beautiful ship, newest ship. Well worth the cost. I'm sure all cruises are costing more going into the future. We recommend this ship for all cruisers!

I would never be able to afford a cruise on icon because that is way too rich for my blood. I heard the royal family suite cost $75,000 for seven day cruise, who has that kind of money?? Would you guys ever consider a Cruise in the yacht club on MSC cruises? I have been watching lots of video about the yacht club and it sounds very nice . I’ve heard the pricing for yacht club and apparently it is half price of a Royal Caribbean suite. I heard the Royal Caribbean suite is $14,000 for seven days and MSC yacht club is 7500 for seven days.

That is wild $75k is too much for pretty much anything let alone a week long vacation. Royal definitely is targeting a higher tier with its newer ships but you can actually get decent deals if you target their mid tier ships. Think about Independence or Navigator level of ships. That is what some friend of ours are doing and getting great prices on them. Luckily this was the only RC cruise we have paid full cost for in 10 since 2021 since we usually sail with free or heavily discounted casino offers. Also since you pay over time it is a price that sneaks up on you. Would we pay a lump sum of 10 Grand today for it no but we paid over almost a year and a half so we didn’t notice how fast the costs got away from us

My girlfriend and i booked our first cruise ever with icon for december 6th, 2025. We cant wait! Between her and i, we make about 10k a month. She pays the bills while i help pay for fun stuff like vacations. I preadded all the costs (between the excursions we want to do and the cruise room itself). We got an ocean view balcony for about 5100$ and the excursions/deluxe drink pacakge is roughly 2500$. Her and i plan to bring about an extra 5k each for extra wiggle room for specialty dining, tips, and souvenirs so we find this not to bad for our first cruise. We do plan on flying out at the very least a day early if not 2 days early and flying back 1 day later. Our excursions include snorkling with sea turtles at st thomas, and the beach club (2 day passes at 200 each) so that plus the drink package at 2500 i dont think is bad at all

That’s a good plan! Hope you have a great time. Word of advice book as much as you can ahead of time if you know you want to do it since you can find good sales along the way but there is pretty much no sales once you get on board. Minimum deals to look for: 30-40% ultimate dining package Buy one get one 50% off for drink package

We watch on the website all the time for deals. That is the nicest part about cruising is since you generally book a ways out, it is easy to keep watching sale prices. Log into the website and hit plan your cruise and watch those sales especially around major holidays and black friday especially

Let me be a bit critical. I have an Icon booking at the end of April (after Easter break) and it cost me $3,000 for two (ocean view). We also booked Hideaway for $35 each. We usually cruise out of Galveston and a similar cruise on RC is about half that price. Inaugural cruises are always more expensive and the popularity of Icon is growing and demand is high so RC will continue to charge more until demand slows. Many of your other expenses would have been incurred no matter what cruise you would take (airfare, cabs, drink package, dining package, excursions, etc.) Sailing on a popular ship and/or a popular route will always cost more. Your style of cruising makes for a very expensive 7 day vacation to which you are more then entitled to but if you can cut out some of the extras it is easy to sail on another ship for under $1,000 pp for a 7 day cruise.

I was looking at Icon of the Seas for a seven day Caribbean cruise in the cheapest inside cabin. The cruise cost was HIGHER than a seven day YACHT cruise in a suite on Windstar Cruises. On one, I will get barely average food on an overcrowded ship. On the other, I will get superior service and menus from the James Beard Foundation. On one, I will get the same tired old cruise ports. On the other, I will get to more unique interesting ports. Guess which one I am selecting???

You did get a good deal! Our cruise for October 19, 2024 will cost us $6400 for a guaranteed ocean view balcony. This does not include gratuities or anything else! The drink package was added on later for an addn'l $1300. We'll have to get the internet package since we have someone dog-sitting for us and we have to stay in touch; and we're going to have to fly from Nashville to Miami, so that will be extra too. Compare this to our 17 day Hawaii cruise on Holland America last month that was $9000 which included the drink package, air fare, internet, $500 onboard credit and two excursions - this is an expensive one week cruise! LOL! 🤣 But you know, I can't wait to experience this ship - you only live once!!

OUCH! No surprise here. Booking it early is cheaper early. We experienced the same thing on Celebrity Edge. Cutting out the fishing trip would save you $500 and paying as you go for Specialty Dining could save some. Would you be better off using your free drinks as a Diamond Member and pay the extras above? You basically celebrated your honeymoon for $10k. Did you spend +/-$ on gambling? Cruising is no longer cheap. We are glad you had a great time. 🎉

You can definitely find cost cutting spots, we obviously went a bit overboard with our extras. We debated for a long time about doing the drink package or not since this was our first cruise as diamond, but in the end we were too excited by the number of new and old bars that we felt we really wanted the drink package. We did not gamble as much - this one had zero discounts from gambling and we had both basically reached prime for next year so come April we will be looking to book our free Prime cruise - even thought about seeing if we can get a room on Icon again haha.

@@JoshRachael we cruise and don't buy any drink or food packages. Cuz the free food is more then enough. Drinks we just buy a few when needed.. we booked on opening night as will and go in dec on this ship. But I feel all the add one doesn't seem worth it. You could of just booked 2 cruises for what you spent on Extra's. It's your money but $1300 for drinks $700 for food when you guys were off the ship buy drinks and food on top. To each their own. We cruise 2 times a yr and spend less with a family of 4 and have a awesome time. But thinks for the your video and all that info. It helps others forsure

I think it all depends one what you are going for. We did 4 cruises last year and didn't do the dining package on any of them and only did the drink package on a 3 day cruise with friends and didn't on our 3 7 day ones. There are values to be had for sure it all depends on what you are going for on each cruise, and we do each differently. It is what makes the "add-ons" not all bad since as you point out not everyone needs the upcharge restaurants or all you can drink cruise options. Every cruise can be different for each person based on their needs or wants
