Avocados are a $2.4 billion business in Mexico. That kind of cash has attracted drug cartels who are stealing land and forcing farmers to hand over their profits. To defend themselves, locals are arming up and forming vigilante groups to protect their avocados.

Queue the video of the marines shaking hands with Sinaloa cartels who were helping chapo's son escape capture. It's gotten out of hand. I can only hope for the best but a particular American federal alphabet group sold the cartels weapons under operation fast and furious. So US has their hands covered in blood as well. The reason the US get them from mexico and not other parts of the world is shipping cost. Some of the sweetest avocados come from FL. They are the best for cut and sliced. However they are not good for dip and item that require them to be mashed for the water starts to drain out of them. The largest avocados are grown in HI and are 3 to 4 lb. Rudolph Hass developed the ones grown in mexico (for growing in his home state of CA) and it was patented, However the mexicans did not honor the patent and stole it. Per top Chefs and Gourmet Foods the best avocado are the Dominican....(grown mainly in FL). they are green skin and the best tasting, and cost more However uneducated people write things without research and act as if they are authority on it YEP the mexican are thieves and are not satisfied with stealing patents and small things...they want to steal the whole US and make it into a 3rd world country. These farmers fear drug-cartells. Or in other words: gangsters who will try to get money wherever they can. You say: the farmers live in fear because they are making so much money that drug-cartells are now interested in the profits." - Sooooo the alternative is what?
