Great Video! I've been preaching this for years. I always say.... The cannabinoids are the vehicle (THC, CBD) and the terpenes are the driver (Terps)..... The vehicle will get you there but the driver will provide the experience. I believe nowadays, we really can only refer sativa, indica or hybrid to describe a plants growing style. Stay Lifted!

Linnaeus did not discover cannabis... it's been cultivated for thousands of years. At least since the bronze age. He just categorized life into the current scientific notation we have today. He named the species Cannabis sativa, by no means discovered it. Also cannabis ruderalis is not known as "hemp." Hemp is cannabis sativa, but it's a variety that has not been bread for high THC content, as it's intended to be used for textiles, oil and the like.
@cannaclay1125

Hi Joanne! While I agree Carl Linnaeus did not necessarily "discover" cannabis, he was the first scientist to put a name to it, which in exchange coins him as "the discover-er" of the cannabis sativa plant. In regards to your comment about ruderalis not being hemp, we will have to call agree to disagree on that one. Unfortunately history has skewed our perception and knowledge on a lot of these products, so there is a lot of mis-information available out there. I definitely agree that hemp was intended to be used for things like textiles and oil.

Heads up, I know my shit. Ruderalis is either a 'feral' or a wild breed. It has rarely ever been used as a fiber crop, and therefor has never really been called hemp. What we call hemp, is also Sativa, but Sativa with little to no THC. That is because, when Cannabis was spread towards Europe (in prehistoric times) the plant was no longer used medicinally/recreational/ritually, but merely for food and fibers. This is when Sativa likely starts to distinguish itself from Indica. THC levels dropped because it was no longer selected for. That type of hemp is still around today, with narrow leaves, but in cold climates. Sativa's with THC indeed originate 'in equatorial regions', but as a consequence of hemp being spread from Spain through North Africa (around the 11th century), picking up Indica genes along the way that were present in the Egypt area. Through the use of hashish the Sativas were once again selected for their intoxicating properties. In the following 500 years, this 'Sativa type 2' migrated along the coast of Africa clockwise, developing the typical Sativa characteristics (low CBD, presence of THC-V). Through Indian Ocean-trade Sativa plants also ended up in South East Asia. Now it's 1492, and we have Cannabis Sativa type 1 (regular hemp), Cannabis Sativa type 2 (African/hasjplants), Cannabis Indica (then known as 'indian hemp') and Cannabis Ruderalis. The first 3 were all taken to the new world. European colonists brought with them hemp (and possibly Indica as well). Later on Sativa type 2 was brought by sailors and African slaves, laying the foundation for South American and Jamaican Sativa's. Conclusion is that Sativa's fenotype (how it looks) did not develop in equatorial regions, but in prehistoric times, on it's way to Europe. The "broad leaf > cold climate / narrow leaf > warm climate" theory simply doesn't hold up to the fact that narrow-leafed Sativas have been in Northern Europe for millennia. It's a theory based on conjecture, not on facts.

Something I'd like to know & haven't found anywhere.... What/why is difference in CBD derived from hemp? When it first was even being marketed as a thing, maybe idk... close to 10 yrs ago now (having really bad back issues/ pain) I had recently started vaping to quit smoking cigarettes. At an event/tradeshow type thing, there were 2 companies offering this new 'tincture' called CBD. Derived from hemp & high CBD, super low THC (being in state where it wasn't legal otherwise.. as most, if not all were, then) they had a couple suuuuuper pricey options. Willing to try just about anything, I bought a bottle. At the time, I think the highest mg was like 1-200mg or so. Supposed to put under tongue, hold there, then swallow. Gawd, it was awwwful. Felt no different. Over the years & since, have tried MANY different CBD options, all... sold to the masses, legally... hemp. ALL, no matter the method or delivery OR strength.... noticed no difference in pain, or.. anything. It was just, as if... I had taken nothing & there was no effect (well, other than my $ going down the toilet.. again) Then, one day... I went & visited family in CO. Someone said I should try one of the tinctures high in CBD, from an actual dispensary/derived from something other than hemp. So hesitant, not knowing or understanding difference, but... willing to try it. Same type of bottle, same type of taste... this, seemingly same by the label anyway. Ever so slightly higher in THC, still super low tho... I think it was 3%? 97%CBD .... One dropper, expecting nothing.... yet, within a minute or two.... I felt something for sure! Not gone, but definitely less pain... just, idk.. lighter in spirit, not so down... Not a huge, omg difference OR really long lasting, but... there was definitely a difference & some.. improvement. Just wondering what that is attributed to? Now that it recently became legal, recreationally in my state, not sure where to even begin. What to look for, type... tincture again? Something better? Vape, pre-filled or... ? Type/strain/ratio? I don't want to feel down (i mean, maybe at night to help w/ pain/sleep) but for most times... would love to just feel less pain, boost in overall mood/energy/clarity... Wondering why there's such a difference in the cbd sold, derived from Hemp & that, sold at dispensaries from other types of the plant?? Any advice would be helpful, ESP since..... one cannot even go in & ask for suggestions, etc.. Everything now, has to be ordered over the phone & picked up only. Appreciate your time.... Stay safe & be well.

Himalayan Monks have the best Stuff! Indica LOL... seriously though they bred it out well for their meditations... then you have the Jumping Africans and their Sativas... you can trace plant lineage/localization via the terpenes ( mica makes terpenes ) metallic oxides in the soils determine what terpenes are present after thousands of years of evolution... Cannabis has been determined 40 to 50 million years evolved... endocannabinid system is 4 to 5 billion years evolved from the original Sea Squirt

Does this mean, that if you have a ruderalis crossed with a thc strain, that will raise the thc level from nothing to something? I'm asking because every damn seed ive popped so far has had tri leafs small bushy and though they do smell, if they contain no thc even if they were crossed with a high thc strain, idk about that. If that's the case, i need to throw all my plants out and start yet again with a new seed unless that one too turns out to be ruderalis. I feel like i'm getting cheated here.
@cannaclay1125
@cannaclay1125 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Greg Foster! Yes, crossing a Ruderalis Plant with a THC strain shooouuuuuld produce THC. The benefit to crossing it with a Ruderalis strain is that you can cut the grow cycle and flowering time down. Obviously you'll get better at this with better results the more you do it :) Happy Educating!

I have to disagree with two points. One , hemp does not come from ruderalis. Hemp comes from sativa. Ruderalis is much too short a plant to be valuable for hemp. The sativa was exclusively used for hemp cause one tough fiber of course. As well as hight, sativa is the tallest of the genus. Long tall stems make long fiber. Indica is and was most valued for resin production for the making of hashish. Ruderalis was not valued for much of anything commercial until recent times for breeding hybrid auto flowers. It was just a weed of only a couple of feet tall. So no value for hemp. Too short. Also males are valued even more for hemp because they are taller!! Long stems, long fiber.

There is only one species, cannabis sativa. There has only ever been one as far as we know. Sativa indica and ruderalis are strains/genotypes. I was going to let this slide because it is somewhat controversial as to how the cannabis species should be classified: whether sativa indica and ruderalis are different cannabis species or simply subspecies, but then you said ruderalis is hemp which is completely wrong. Ruderalis is the autoflower, it doesn’t flower based on the photoperiod but instead on an internal timer. Hemp is simply cannabis that contains >.3%? Delta 9 thc. You can literally take any cannabis plant and turn it into hemp. Hemp is nothing more than a governmental classification. Hemp has literally been used for thousands of years before the ruderalis strain was even discovered. Weird how you would mention that ruderalis is debated as to whether it’s a species or subspecies when it’s the same exact debate for all 3 strains. Ruderalis produces no thc? You have no fucking clue what you’re talking about. Most of the bud people smoke is autoflower. In fact you’d have no fucking clue whether it was photperiod or autoflower when smoking it or testing the cannabinoids. You’re spouting bullshit. The only thing you’re right about is that sativa/indica do not determine the high. Sativa and indica are purely morphological determinations.

Hi Alex! All cannabis plants fall under some sort of "Indica/Sativa/Hybrid" classification... To be called "hemp" the strain would need to have less than 0.3% THC, and yes, a lot of CBD dominant cannabis plants have been cross-bred with hemp strains in order to grow faster, and with a lower THC content. (As well, practically all cannabis plants are a hybrid of some sort... check out my video on this topic when you have a chance! kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5-2nYSPbrp3Y6s) Hope this answers your question! Like is said we need education on what cannabis does for the body, All my research points too cannabis only being good for your body, An smoking bud will not cause lung cancer, Logically cannabis would deflect an protect, The UK needs too wake up too the cannabis is not going away the faster we legalise the better for the UK..............
