I got an idea for a continuation: You know how in Galaxy and Galaxy 2, you beat the game, then have to beat the game as Luigi? Maybe Luigi is actually the one to stop Bowser, so when everything returns to normal, Luigi is praised as a hero. Part of being a hero, Luigi "wins" a house, which ends up being haunted, thus, Luigi's Mansion becomes a thing. Meanwhile, Mario is cast aside since he's no longer a hero, and goes of to Super Mario Land and finds Princess Daisy, and decides that she'll do. This is getting a little away from what I actually thought pretty well about, but maybe after a while, Mario finds an adventure where someone needs help, and he's eager to do it to get his stardom back, but it ends up being a trap, leading to Luigi needing to rescue Mario (Thus, Mario is Missing becomes a thing), and after Luigi saves him, they start working together on missions, which could lead into the Mario & Luigi series, and even Super Mario Bros U, New Super Mario Bros, Mario 3d land, Mario 3d world, and so on.

i have a theory:super mario land 2 is one of the last games in the timeline,not because the adventure ended but because at the end wario is defeated and his games start,and nintendo treats him like he always was in the Nintendo Universe. My theory is that in one of his adventures wario finds an artefact to travel in time and reset the mario timeline,this way he can make sure he is placed near mario since the time he is young(baby mario),so he can make sure he can defeat him on a later date

You could have Mario Bros take place before Super Mario Bros, where mario and luigi are doing underground plumbing when they stumble apon a pipe leading to the mushroom kingdom starting their first adventure. and had Luigi's Mansion take place after Super Mario Galaxy 2, a lot of people theorize that Bowser is dead in that game and his ghost which is King Boo is trying to get revenge on mario. and Luigi's Mansion dark moon could take place after that where Luigi stops king boo once and for all bringing peace to the mushroom kingdom and thus marking the chronological end to the Mario timeline.

Here's my continuation. After Mario Galaxy 2. Bowser kept coming back leading to the new super Mario games. Meanwhile, inspired by his encounter with Mario in Galaxy 2. Captain Toad goes on his own adventure in treasure tracker. At the end of that game we see the intro to the next part of the timeline: 3d world and afterwards, 3d land. Now let's cut back to king/big boo from Mario 64 and Mario world. He was happy to be a part of the show and movie. But because boos are usually shy, he never showed up on camera. Now he's braver, and leads us to luigi's mansion 1 and 2. Now to fill in some gaps! Before Mario 1 there was Mario bros. this was when he first became a plumber. The creatures in the pipes led him to Mario 1. Before that Mario was trying to make a profit off of his circus in the game DK Circus. After which Donkey Kong escaped and that led to Dinkey kong and donkey kong jr which led to Mario bros. Having escaped Mario DK and DK jr went back home to DK Country. DK became...

Cranky kong and DK jr became DK. This leads to DKC 1, 2 and 3. As DK returned to Mario for payback in the Mario vs donkey kong games which happen just after super Mario world. Meanwhile Diddy kong goes to the nearby tiger island and Diddy kong racing happens. During which Diddy tries to invite the brother bears from DKC3 which he learned about from Dixie Kong. However they're busy so their cousin Banjo gets invited instead who also also invites tiptup who he met in his most recent adventure, Banjo-Kazooie. Conker somehow gets invited too. After Diddy kong racing we get to banjo pilot, grunty's revenge and nuts 'n' bolts. Meanwhile DKC returns and tropical freeze are happening too. Back to Mario. After luigi's mansion 2 mario uses what's left of his money to visit daisy in Mario and afterward the Mario land sequels. That's all I can do for now.

+DarkBeast 27 Now to elaborate on CONKER! Before DKR, we have Conkers pocket tales, but after, Conker became an alcoholic and then we have Bad Fur Day. But how does warioware fit in? Well, I think it's a prequel to his first appearance in Mario land 2; Wario was making tons of money explaining how he could easily overthrow Mario several times in the future. His appearances in Mario kart, golf, tennis (with his brother waluigi), etc, etc, are all because he learned that Mario was richer than him, leading to Mario Land 2. Also, since Warioware is a prequel, maybe Ashley was the former resident of luigis mansion(?).

So after that, Mario with his massive fortune starts a toy company. Bringing forth the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series. However, Donkey Kong Arcades and Donkey Kong for Gameboy 1994 I am not sure where they fit. Maybe stories he writes down inspired by his adventures rescuing Pauline from DK in the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series. Super Mario 3D Land takes place somewhere in here. Super Mario 3D World comes next and with the new found confidence that the Toads and Princess Peach and Luigi have, they all go on an adventure to rescue fairies from Bowser. Meanwhile, Cackletta and Fawful invade the Mushroom Kingdom while Mario and company are absent trying to rescue fairies from Bowser elsewhere. Then the events of the Mario & Luigi series take place. Mario retires with his humongous fortune and hosts parties, sporting events, and kart racing competitions. Bowser has already given up at this point and decided to just join the fun. Mario buys a big fancy castle from Bowser. A new villain emerges. Tatanga comes from outer space and invades Sarasaland and kidnaps Princess Daisy. Mario heads out to Sarasaland to rescue her and forgets all about Peach. This leads to the events of Super Mario Land. After Mario finally rescues Daisy, they both fall in love. Daisy forgets about Luigi and Mario had already forgotten about Peach. During Mario's trip to Sarasaland, Wario invades his castle and takes over. Mario returns to the island his castle is on only to find out Wario has control of it and has unleashed the 6 Golden Coins, launching them to their perspective zones and Mario must retrieve them and then go back into his castle and defeat Wario. This is Super Mario Land 2. After defeating Wario, Mario officially declares he is not going on anymore adventures. Instead he starts a new company that makes video game levels of his adventures and allows people to use their own creativity in making these levels. His company starts off by releasing Super Mario Maker. It's a smash hit and everybody loves Mario more than ever! Wario feels left out and distraught as well as very disappointed. But as he travels, he finds motivation and a chance for redemption. He discovers an island filled with treasures. This ends Mario's storyline and begins Wario's storyline starting with Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land.

Alternative Wario theory: After his defeat in the hands of Mario, Wario decides to go on his own adventures and try to build a castle bigger than Mario's while also trying to become richer than him in the process. These adventures are chronicled in the Wario Land series. Soon he gets sick of adventuring and retires, only to discover that his old rival Mario, having also retired from adventuring, has created the Super Mario Maker video game and Wario, seeing how successful it has become, decides to compete with a game of his own. So Wario sets up a small video game company with his friends and that's the Wario Ware series.

And at this point mario is VERY rich. This was surprisingly pretty interesting, I really did get hooked, I thought the Mario Play was a little out there, but good, then Mario 64 Movie I thought was a little strange (though I haven't seen the whole Mario Movie video, which would probably change my mind) for the Mario TV series, I thought the Sunshine was pretty accurate because the levels are separated through "Episodes" but the Mario World TV Series, I couldn't really see a connection, but the Mario Galaxy really brought me back. All-in-all, good timeline, but wouldn't say it's the "True" timeline

I'd like to continue the theory in a crazy way. With the success of Mario 64, Mario decides to open a toy factory, leading us to the Mario VS Donkey Kong series. He uses the money earned from the toys to go on vacation, leading to World and Sunshine. he then decides to make toys based off all of his friends and open a theme park. During this, real Bowser infiltrates to look for a way to defeat Mario and Partners in Time occurs. During this he meets his baby self. After the Shroob invasion, Bowser gets the bright idea of taking over the universe and reveals himself, and the Galaxy games happen. after he is killed, Baby Bowser somehow gets older and makes his way to the present, and this is the Bowser we see in all the other games and Mario and Luigi games, as there are much more powerful villains taking his place, and even ends up teaming with Mario. I know it was crazy but hope you enjoy this continuation whoever reads this.

My part of the theory; After Mario defeated bowser in super Mario Galaxy, he was so traumatized that afterwards, none of his work was as good as Mario couldn't get his head straight. So he tried animating (CDI games). But... the animations were not liked by the public at all. Mario was so worried that he would never produce anything good again so he went on a break and tried adventuring again (new super Mario bros and 3D world/ land). After that, Mario realized that he would prefer to adventure for real than make movies, so he handed the Mario franchise over to his brother luigi. When luigi received the rights to one of the biggest franchises in the world, he decided to make some movies about himself in a different style to the Mario series. In comes luigis mansion and luigis mansion dark moon. But that's just a theory... A waffle theory!

Another look on this timeline, after the events of the orginal SMB Bowser acually becomes allies with the Mushroom Kingdom via a truce agreemeant, and the Galaxy Games are also movies. Bowser's actor is the real Bowser, which is why the "TV" show introduced Bowser Jr. is real, and Bowser goes on sport adventures with the gang, as other yoshis are seen as civilians in spin off games. And Yoshi is just Mario's friend who works on the films with him.

Mario Bros: Mario, after quitting his job as a zoo worker, decides to get a job as a plumber, with his brother Luigi tagging along with him. He encounters monsters in the sewers, and has to fight them off. Super Mario Bros: Mario, being an experienced plumber now, gets a call from the Mushroom Kingdom to fix someone's pipes. He learns that the princess is kidnapped, and being his brave self, decides to go rescue her, but forgot to fix the person's toilet or whatever, which is why there's a time limit at every level. Super Mario Bros 2: After his quest in the Mushroom Kingdom, he decided to take a day off, and goes straight to bed. He dreams about his quests, and he can't get his mind off of it. Super Mario Bros 3: Mario looks for a bit of extra cash after getting fired from his plumbing job, and decides to write a play about his original adventure. Super Mario World: After seeing the success of the play, he decides to write a TV show. So it doesn't get stale, he introduces Bowser's kids and the loveable Dino, Yoshi. Mario Paint: Deciding to take a break from the TV show, he decides to paint (inbetween world - or season - 1 and 2). Super Mario 64: Mario's getting a bit greedy. He decided to direct a feature length film about his adventures, and having Yoshi in the after-credits sequence. Mario's Early Years series: He wants to make a TV show aimed at children, with numbers, letters, and all that.

To be quite honest, I can almost never take any Mario timeline theory completely seriously. Consistency has never been the franchise's strong suit, after all. Still, let's have fun with it! I consider the stage play analogy to be more accurate: how about an approach similar to Tezuka's "Star System?" Maybe all the Mario characters are just actors capable of varied roles and an astonishing adherence to gaming kayfabe? Also, maybe the New Super Mario series is a series of gaming adaptations Millionaire Mario officially licensed?
