I left Pokemon Go years ago because i was getting pulled into the microtransaction trap. Pokemon Go has been going down hill because the company has been making decisions that the pokemon community didn't agree with. Even this year they still make poor updates. If Go goes down, it is because the company pushed away the community or because the game just isn't popular as it was.
@notsoAceTrainer3 ай бұрын
I never used a cent in PoGO, as I've always had the things I needed from Stops around me, but this year, before I let go of the game, I constantly found myself out of Pokéballs, Healing items, etc... I didn't buy them from the store, but can't deny that it crossed my mind. The game is overwhelming for what's available.

I’m still sad about the avatar update. I think it’s creepy how Niantic tracks your data through PoGo and Pikmin Bloom. Pretty much I use it just for shiny hunting

I stopped playing when I wasn't able to play it on my phone anymore, I could get a new one, but mine still works fine, so I have no rush. One day when this one dies, I might get one better and maybe then log in again

Didn't even talk about that, but it's true... I wonder how long will I even be able to play the game on mine!

I have an iPhone 7 and everything works besides it crashes on raids. Completing raids (remote or in person) always crash before/after or both. If the raid is close to ending and turning into gyms again…no reward for raid:/ even when saying it crashes to Niantic, it’s a hit or miss to get pass back.

This is a great breakdown of what has been lost in the game, and highlights the motivation behind those decisions. That graph was incredibly telling. Fitting that during a time of isolation, PoGO was a massive social beacon.
@notsoAceTrainer3 ай бұрын
Thank you! It's crazy how so many good decisions were made during a time when many companies did the exact opposite, only for them to then shoot themselves in the foot.

The best thing about remote raids is that you could be invited to raids on the other side of the planet & still fight in it.
@AlcremieSwirls3 ай бұрын
That is definitely my favorite. I love the fact that I can catch something on the other side of the planet. But with the changes to the remote raid passes, I don’t really want to anymore. I’m not mobile enough and it really took me out of it. 😕
@notsoAceTrainer3 ай бұрын
Absolutely! I always had a blast doing that and then having some people added from far away that would send me eggs that could have specific stuff and help out with the Trade Distance achievement!

Semi-Pro tip: full time 2016-17, no 18, part time in 19.. then came back june 2023 lol. Coming back to all the new playability features was a huge noticeable leap. It brought learning new ways to capitalize on personal goals, there was so much more to do than in 2016-17, twas a bit challenging of a learning curve, but it was just what it needed for me. I missed the remote raid craze & only remembered how hard, and rare raids really use to be.. communicating on fb groups organically without the ease of access today. Yes I regret not playing those yrs.. but my outlook & general feeling I get from playing now is more adventurous, and positive compared to some I’ve ran into who played this whole time feeling bitter/burnt out. I only go all in on events I give a fair grade to (some are scammy af) but I’ve made my own personal goals ingame, still much to learn & master.

This is 100% something that affects a more casual player less. If you dedicate a lot to the game through the years, though, it becomes hard to see the state right now! Glad you're enjoying it though!

I still play but only on community day events with my brothers because there’s a park and we can usually find a couple other people to do raids with but honestly other than that I don’t touch the game like I used to I just found your channel and you make amazing content keep up the amazing work! I’m subscribing!

For a while I did exactly the same but eventually even stopped doing CDs... Not today, though! Tynamo is too small to hunt in ScaVi so I'm going hard for this one 😁 Thank you so much for the kind words! Hopefully I continue to entertain you!

It’s such a tragedy to see this amazing concept crumbling away and how they are giving people in small places fewer things to do in the game and how Niantic is putting multiple certain Pokémon under a paywall for example shiny Mew, shiny Jirachi Marshadow, etc. They are really ignoring the meaning of the slogan "Gotta Catch 'Em All" in the game.
@notsoAceTrainer3 ай бұрын
I understand the need for having some feel more special (it sells them tickets, and makes the events themselves more worth attending), though I do think that the way smaller places have been treated by Niantic is a really good example of the data part I mentioned.

I honestly can't see pogo shutting down in the next 5 years even. Too many people play it still and some people are REALLY dedicated. I said the same thing about the 3ds and wii u online services too though
@notsoAceTrainer3 ай бұрын
They're different beasts, though... PoGO needs to be profitable, the online services were there simply due to keeping the playerbase able to use those services. You check the graph and you see the drop. You check the viewership on any PoGO tournament and it's baffling how little people care about it. Pokkén had more people watching and they still got axed eventually. But yeah, I wouldn't doubt the 5 year thing... which for a game that's standing on the shoulders of the most popular franchise out there, is not a lot.
@eeveefennecfox3 ай бұрын
well it doesn't help that only 1 pokemon spawns per day when you live in the middle of a forest,pokemon go didn't think about people that live in the middle of no where at all,plus the avatar update is awful,now my character's clothes is glitchy and ugly as fuck

@notsoAceTrainer3 ай бұрын
Considering I didn't even know about that, I doubt that was the reason behind the remote passes decision, the removal of the incense boost, the reach reversal, etc etc... those were the things that took out the game.

nah, while i hate what pokemon go has become in the last years, with that horrible PVP and those horrible avatars, this game is not going anywhere, at least on the foreesable future, if the pokemon cafe game is still going theres no reason to think that pogo is gonna end soon
@notsoAceTrainer3 ай бұрын
The thing is Caffé Remix has no "machine" around it. It's a bathroom game, basically. Those can last forever. PoGO has the competitive scene and all that, and it barely has decent viewership. They have IRL events that need to keep attendance levels to be profitable. They are two completely different beasts.
@josephschubert6561Ай бұрын
I started playing just over a year ago so I wasn't around for the early craze "everyone is playing," but I have met a lot of people at college just through PoGo. I'm confused about your disappointment. A big draw to the game early on was meeting new people in-person, going to events in-person, coordinating in a group chat with people whose faces you've seen a dozen times. And then the pandemic happened and players weren't meeting up in person as much, so Niantic releases remote raids and other features, and players start coordinating groups online, with people halfway across the world. Then more places open up again and the remote play features get nerfed or rolled back. And now you're disappointed that playing with the online, international community isn't as strong. But shouldn't you _want_ to get back to a stronger in-person, local community? Doesn't an oversaturation of remote-play features discourage local community play? And wouldn't frequent community events help get people back outside and interacting with local players? But you say "constant events" like it's a bad thing? I'm confused. Yes, a smaller overall playerbase means fewer local players, but isn't coordinating meetups for local events the job of the players, not the developers? This game is about getting people outside, so why is the community blaming the shrinking playerbase and community aspect on Niantic saying "touch grass"? Maybe I'm just not recognizing how important it is for players to have _both_ a local and global community, but I find it odd that the discourse around "Go" is a removal of "stay put" features. Hopefully this doesn't come across as hostile. In my other comment I said my favorite part is hatching eggs (a very solo gameplay feature), but I share the disappointment when raid events are happening but I'm not able to go to one with a lot of players. Or not having any clue if someone at the coffe shop or library also needs to add a friend for an in-game mission. Having only joined just over a year ago, I'm still pretty on the outside of what this community was like during its peaks, and I'm genuinely curious about why I hear many people blame the developers instead of the community for the lack of, well, community.

It's hard to explain it if you weren't there, but PoGO really was lightning in a bottle. A once in a lifetime type of thing. You didn't need to organize anything - you just showed up around places where people played and people were there playing. It was a beautiful thing. But about your points: The "stay put" features did not discourage people from meeting up at all. Remote passes made made sure that even those who really couldn't attend the raid at those hours (Raid Hour, Raid Days, etc), could do them at a distance from work or any other responsibility. It kept everyone engaged. Many times I went out to raid and we had a mix of in-person and remote raiders, but never the same faces. Sometimes the in-person ones were the ones doing them remotely. You had options. The moment those things were removed, people slowly stopped caring because they were missing the constant events and feeling "left behind". And so, the constant events are an issue because they, in reality, add nothing to the game. The constant influx of 3 or 4 Pokémon for a week or 2 is nothing compared to a full blown Generation being added like before. Seeing shadows all around your nearby and chasing them was incredible! Now they are simply happening because of greed. Selling more passes - have you get them more data. They're not about creating a cool experience for the player, they're about feeding their investors. Players still went outside with the "stay put" features, I met them constantly playing around. Lighting up parks with Lures for everyone. People with families, busy work weeks and weekends. People from all age groups that sometimes couldn't make it, but had a way to join in anyway. Something that they made either hard or impossibe. The game was released in 2016. It's been 8 years. They didn't think of the players and so, the community dwindled. And that's the reason why it just won't grow anymore. I mean, if you found a community-based game that barely had a community, would you be inclined to play it? I wouldn't.
@Miguel923983 ай бұрын
As a former Go player, I can see that it's nearing the end considering my local community had moved to the big city and disbanded the old one. Now, their new community are only 8 people +alts to knock out an elite raid. I stopped playing Go since the Remote Raid changes in April 2023 because at the time, I was completely immobilized due to an accident and the fact that a community telling me that it's not for the disabled makes me angry because GO isn't just a game for ableists but a game for everyone and have fun. I wasn't having fun anymore. I've barely participating in events like Community Day and the Hoenn Tour, despite I wasted my money just to get a Shiny Jirachi prior to my accident and lastly, when they announced that they're charging Remote Raid passes more (a bundle was supposed to be a slight cheaper than buying three, now buying the bundle equals to buying three passes and they made regular passes cheaper) plus only limit to 5 per day, that's when I quit. Any abelists reading this, Niantic is a walking contradiction. They supported the disabled and POC in their page and yet their community and themselves barely cares about the disabled and heavily lean on androgynous gender and DEI crap.
@notsoAceTrainer3 ай бұрын
I think PoGO was too successful for Niantic to handle for a long time. Their games were super niche and when they hit the big one with the Pokémon partnership, things never were truly right. I can't remember a single update that came without issues, for example. "Niantic being Niantic" is what I used to say whenever I updated my app only to find it bugged somewhere. This didn't matter while there were various communities helping each other, but when they're gone... well, the flaws begin to show pretty quickly.

Hey! I'm sad as well, but hey, at least it won't be gone in a second. It likely will be a slow descent into obscurity, with a lot of people leaving it behind. I doubt that they can reverse their mistakes at this point.
@MatthewHauserman3 ай бұрын
It saw an increase in profits because people were bored with nothing to do. Major games delayed or paused production. People were looking for something they could do from their cars or home which brought in a bunch of people that were just playing cause they had nothing else to do. Once everything opened back up they went back to their regular lives.
@notsoAceTrainer3 ай бұрын
Which leaves the feeling of community as the thing they would seek to find. Take that away with various bad choices and there's nothing left holding you to the game.

From some research, I think that another main reason why the end is near for Pokemon GO is that Niantic is currently making that mobile game be a woke one because they developed an update that makes the female trainers permanently look more like trans-gender men!
@notsoAceTrainer3 ай бұрын
I find it very hard to believe that to be the case, honestly. The decisions of the company that affected the actual gameplay are likely the reason for it, instead of a simple cosmetic change. If that was the case, then making the backgrounds pretty would've countered it 😁
