This restriction on will is probably done by his mother the mage queen I am guessing she is his mother she probably cast a type of spell that would make him unable to use magic which would force will to learn wis afterall if will could use magic he never would have discovered it but to do that one must master both magic and sword so I think he was sent to the same orphanage as elfaria so he would think her as a rival or goal which would allow will to get knowledge of magic and he would have to continue training his sword since he could not use magic which would eventually become wis i think wis is not unique but anyone can use it but not truly master it. wills mother did this so that will could master it by making it the only available option for him to get stronger

Rosti is probably elfarias clone because (Rosti Nowman = Frosty Snowman ) you can see only a few letters are removed and it means that he is actually a full body of ice and ice could make the clones as you can see when will was fighting Julius.
