In the Shogun tv Show, Matsudaira Tadayoshi is presented to us Yoshii Nagakado, who is Lord Yoshii Toranaga's son who is based off Tokugawa Ieyasu. In the series, Nagakado is an impulsive and aspiring samurai who adores his father and wishes for his approval. However, the events in the show and real life differ significantly. The real Matsudaira Tadayoshi was born during his father's rise to power and would also die young however, it was under different circumstances, however, he was a very rash young man, looking to impress his father. He is remembered as the man who fired the first shot at the battle of Sekigahara, beginning the carnage. This is his story.

@@lucianoromero777 What he meant was, the show was based off a book, that fictionized the real events (Tokugawa Ieyasu's rise to Shogun). Kind of like Romance of the Three Kingdoms, a fictional retelling of real events with fictional additions and changes to make the story more entertaining.

Have you ever heard of the tragedy of Matsudaira Nobuyasu the wise? It’s a story that Ieyasu won’t tell you.
@historyprofiles
@historyprofiles Ай бұрын
ah yes, when he ordered his wife and oldest son to commit seppuku in order to stay in Oda Nobunaga's good graces. I often wonder if Ieyasu truly saw most people as pawns to facilitate his own agendas, himself having a traumatic childhood when his father left him for dead, and due to him being a hostage all his life, never knowing love, only the game of chess that was the sengoku period
@nont18411

@@historyprofiles I think that moment when he murdered his own wife and son was a point of no return for him. Before that,it’s understandable that he had to fight his enemies. This was the first time that he had to sacrifice his own family for his so-called greater good (like Thanos). Ever since then, he treated every person in his life as a pawn in his master plan. Men, women, children and even his own family. Nobody survived his wrath. Is he an evil Machiavellian person? Absolutely. But he’s also a product of this violent time and one could say that maybe the ends justified his means after all because with all these monstrous measures, Ieyasu succeeded in ending a 150 years civil war and creating a new era of peace and stability in his new capital of Tokyo for almost 300 years. Tokugawa Ieyasu and the other two great unifiers should be considered in the same tier like those of Napoleon or Julius Caesar.
@historyprofiles
@historyprofiles Ай бұрын
@@nont18411 completely agree with you, he went through significant measures to save them when they were captured, he even sent hattori hanzo to save them from a castle they were captive in. So I agree their deaths must have changed him, as he knew he couldn’t defeat the oda clan at that time and had to submit to nobunagas will. There were so many great men during the sengoku period, ieyasus experiences, will, and chance allowed him to become shogun, king after he had abandoned his humanity, it’s a very bleak but real way to view the period. I agree, the 3 unifiers should be known worldwide. I will do a video on nobunaga and hideyoshi at some point! Thank you for watching and commenting! Love insightful ones!

@@historyprofiles Without Nobunaga, the careers of Hideyoshi and Ieyasu would never take off. And without Hideyoshi and Ieyasu, Japan would have turned out extremely different that it will become unrecognizable because these two are responsible for founding of two biggest cities in Japan. Hideyoshi founded Osaka and Ieyasu founded Tokyo.
