That’s a sweet setup. I Went with the 6.5 CM first, followed by the 300 WM, then the 300 PRC, the 6.5 PRC and finally the 6.8 Western. The 300 WM will outshoot them all but the 6.8 Western is my go to hunting gun. Next project is to upgrade the 6.5 PRC with a heavy 27” barrel with a 7.5 twist and see how well that shoots long range.

Fantastic shooting rifle! You can’t complain with those groups at all. I do want to say it how it is though. That ammo is advertised to get 3000 fps with a 24” barrel. You’re using a 29” barrel to get those velocities. Given roughly 25-40 fps change per inch of barrel length, out of a 24” barrel that’s velocity of 2875 fps down to 2800 fps in a very rough estimation. That’s a very slow lot of ammo. I am excited to see how your handloads do.

Nice video and content. The gun looks great and shoots great, I see :) I am more of a 300 win mag guy but if I was buying a gun now I would consider 7mm prc. I have an "old" sweadis Carl Gustav Mrk II in 300 win mag with a 65 cm Walter Lothar barrel and Swaro glass on top z6i 2-12x50 - shooting 5 cm high at 100 m with 165 grain ttsx. And it just works every time:) I have had great luck with this setup on big game (seal-deer-moose). I live and hunt in Norway and have we variable conditions/situations so it can be tight and it can be that you have to shoot far. But if it is just wood-lands I hunt in, then I use 9,3x62 Mauser and a 247 grain TOG/Brenneke bullet. Those to setups work great. Greetings from Norway :)

In the same rifle, if you were using 7 rem mag, with equivalent bullet weights, etc, how would the recoil compare with 7PRC? I'm basically wondering if spending double on ammo comes with any real benefits. I don't mean that sarcastically, btw. I found that on paper, 6.5PRC was the cartridge for me - but ammo costs (I buy retail until I learn how to load my own) kept me closer to the 7rem mag/30-06. I'm following all the rumors about the toll 7PRC pressure takes on a brass, not to mention the 3000+ fps velocity that barrels absorb, and now is a perfect time to hear honest reviews on the caliber/cartridge.
@PrecisionRifleNetwork
@PrecisionRifleNetwork 11 күн бұрын
There's a couple issues with 7PRC actually. So far, I have not been able to get close to 3000fps. If you're already running 7rem mag, I wouldn't change. The slightly lighter recoil of the 7PRC isn't really worth switching an entire system in my opinion. Actually I have also settled on 6.5PRC for all hunting related shooting.
@OhGawdHesGotAGun
@OhGawdHesGotAGun 10 күн бұрын
@@PrecisionRifleNetwork Thank you sir, that's exactly what I was hooked on, on paper at least. The stats on 6.5PRC are fantastic -but there's some game I'd probably go heavier with. I had my mind made up to get a 7rem mag or a 30-06, but comparing them to 6.5PRC, is so expensive but it punches way above its weight. As long as the price eventually heads lower, I'm ok with that. I'm planning on hunting deer only, < 200m likely, but also want long range, but not ELR, stuff under 1000m (1100yrds). As a beginner, I appreciate your advice - it's likely to help me make a good first choice on a hunting rifle I can still hit steel at < 1000yd distances. Here's to $100/box of ammo for a while...that's CDN dollars, which I think is 45c in USD, haha.

Thanks for watching. I like the Grayboe stocks a lot, in the context of a hunting rifle. They’re rigid enough and good quality. They are great for that context. I don’t love them for a competition rifle though. Not really heavy enough or long enough. Lacks some of the features of competition specific chassis. Not enough adjustability either. I did not bed my rifles in the grayboe stocks I’ve owned. Never found a need. They shoot plenty tight enough as is. 🤙

Great video and nice shooting at distance! Just ordered a Feirce 7PRC (22" barrell), can't wait until it arrives. I've been hearing all sorts of negative comments about the Hornady ELD-X rounds: less FPS than advertized, too much pressure, expanded firing cap causing bolt extraction difficulties, etc. Any real world feedback would be appreciated.
@PrecisionRifleNetwork
@PrecisionRifleNetwork 2 ай бұрын
those Fierce rifles look really nice! crazy lightweight from what I've seen. All I can say about 7PRC is that I couldn't reach 3000fps even with a 29" barrel. I cut 4 inches off and I'm still getting 2850-2900fps which is plenty. I was just hoping for more. I've also been getting reports of animals being shot with that round multiple times and just running off wounded only to never be found. That's just unacceptable.

Are you doing anything in between groups for cleaning the new barrel or any break in procedures

What a great shooting rifle. Those are some great groups. I thought the 29 inch barrel would have had way better velocity. Its not all about velocity when it come to shooting, but the box velocity is 3000 fps in a 24 inch barrel. I have a 7mm rem mag and when hand loading it, I can often match or beat the 7 PRC velocities with the same bullets with good accuracy. I am curious to see how your handloads do in the 7 PRC because there isn't a ton of stuff out there on handloading for the PRC.

I am a big fan of the 7mm Remington. I shot a lot of game with the various rifles including a 696 yard shot on an antelope in Wyoming. I am intrigued with the 7PRC, but since I have been using a 7mm Rem, I don't feel the difference between the two is worth it to me to start using a 7 PRC. Another 7 I have is the 7 RUM. The 7 RUM has a significant velocity advantage over the 7REM and PRC with heavy for caliber bullets, like 180 gr. and heavier.

Hey great video, i think the pop up notes you edit into the video are a great effect. Looks very professional. Just have one question, why are you not seeing the advertised speeds? I would think with a longer barrel you would've exceeded ammo speed advertised?

@Stewart7516

@PrecisionRifleNetwork the rifle is beautiful imho, I do wonder though if too long a barrel would suppress velocity slightly too? I'm not sure it's either that or Hornadys published data is slightly inflated. Regardless your rifle is shooting lights out, I would trade 100 fps for that kind of precision with factory ammo any day.

I’ve got that scope on my 6.5cm. It’s good, definitely worth the money. They are running $700 on EuroOptic right now I believe. I didn’t like the MIL reticle at first but I do like it alot now. Great video! I'm still torn between 7 PRC and the 300 PRC. I have done a lot of bench shooting over the years, and I can handle recoil. sorry for the delay, just now seeing this. Really comes down to context or what you're going to use it for. Inside of 700 Yards, and for hunting, as an example; I don't think there's much difference honestly. The difference is going to be felt recoil. 7prc will have less.

@@thatguyfishingben4794 that's good to know on the 300 PRC, most of what I read on forums led me to believe I need a longer barrel for 300. @@jtylermcclendon that's a awesome build. The hnt 26 is by far my favorite hunting chasis. Most people think losing velocity is terrible. That is why everyone is against short barrels.
