I have visited the Bahamas for 50 years, lived on Grand Bahama for 7 years full-time. I will tell you that the medical facilities are far far far below standard and as a retired nurse its draconian in nature, i have more stories that would have put doctors in jail and shut down hospitals in first world countries. The Bahamas is a Third world country and unless you are planning on owning your own island, boat, airplane and being completely independent with rapid access to US hospitals FORGET ABOUT IT!!!!

Fortunately for us, most people are not in need of America's cutting edge life saving emergency room treatment 24/7 . Many of us live very well here without our own island, boat, plane or American doctors...lol. Relax.

@@angellosturrup3180 Not true, anyone on the island that can AFFORD to go to the US for health care DO indeed go to the US. Case in point, had a GF have surgery at The Rand on GB for a tumor in her uterus... took her to the operating room, found that the tumor was outside of the uterus, so they preformed the hysterectomy, including the ovaries and left the tumor inside, why you ask? Well, because the right surgeon to do the operation to remove the tumor OUTSIDE of the uterus was not in the operating room. BUT they had the permit to remove the uterus and ovaries and that is what they did and closed her up, sending her inot menopause WITH the tumor still inside.. that is only ONE OF MANY MANY MANY STORIES i know of personally!

" Do not recognize dual citizenship " Maybe thats written in an old book somewhere,but its definitely not standard policy . Thousnds of Bahamians hold USA passports and have no trouble passing through USA and Bahamian airports .

Its indicative of the horrible driving in the country...traffic accidents are killing people here steadily. Read "OUR NEWS" Bahamas ... constant news articles about traffic accidents and lack of adhering to traffic laws.

The short: Bahamas is one of the best places on the planet to run your businesses out of but don't bother trying to live there.

I was a Bahamian resident there -- moved to Canada. I run my business while living abroad. What you said is absolutely correct.

THE Bahamas. That’s the official name of the country. Not Bahamas. It’s a country made up of a chain of islands. The Islands of The Bahamas.
@holidayrap2 ай бұрын
Actually the official name is The Commonwealth of the Bahamas.
