I think she's got a really good point though. Not everyone emotionally can handle the dark side of the internet, some people really bring a lot of nastiness to some of their comments. And someone who is a creator shouldn't have to immerse themselves in something that could damage their mental health just to share their talents or passions with the world. I think hiring somebody to go through the comments is a great recommendation for those individuals...

I feel like some people are using the word "relatable" as an euphemism for "not conventionally attractive" or "not wealthy enough" and I hate that. It should mean a person who is honest, outspoken and shares similar values with you, and you're definitely relatable in this sense

when I use the word relatable when describing a person I mean that we share common ground in something important. I would relate to someone who is average looking, plus size, working a similar shitty low paying job to mine, artistic, because those are things that impact my experiences in life a lot. I relate to Angie in that I like a lot of the same makeup she likes and i genuinely like her and her content and that's why I follow her.

I like to see a video with these questions answered by someone who I can tell 1. knows who she is, 2. knows what she wants out of life and regarding people, 3. has the life experience to compare things and reflect. This is the difference between a 20 year old girl or boy suddenly becoming famous and a person in her 30's who built a life beside and outside of social media. Plus as someone who also lives in Northern Europe I always appreciate Angie's answers of no sugar-coating, romanticising things. It's what it is, you take it or leave it, it's your problem.

i felt so many of the statements you made & it was relieving to hear them out in the open. i love that you're a chatty person, haha, and i'll admit that, that is what i mostly watch you for, that & reviews, swatch videos, and the 'going on the wishlist or nah', because you & i do have some different tastes in makeup, but you are by far one of my favorite youtubers i've ever been subscribed to. i truly hope you hit that 100k & soon, because you've deserved it, for a long, long time. in total honestly, i have unsubscribed from so many youtube channels when i hear too much whining about how youtube is such a hard job. not because i don't think it has its' difficult cons like every job does (i'm one of those sponge type people, i grew up with far more negative commentary & observation than positive, and i wish it gave me a thick skin, but it didn't, i would never be able to deal with the nasty, petty commentary). but you can tell with so many of these people that they've never worked 9-5 jobs, or lasted at some retail/food job for more than 6 months. the job has its difficulties, but it is no harder than any other job - people in the medical field, food service workers, teaching, real estate, tech jobs, retail workers, cashiers, engineers/scientists. it's so tone deaf, and comes from a lot of people with quite privileged backgrounds (in regards to the monetary wealth of their upbringing, even people whose family was able to support through education without them ever working a job to pay bills). a lot of them don't have much work experience beyond trying to make it on social media, and it's quite insulting to the people who spend their 'off' time giving them views. the worst example i can think of was someone i used to watch, years ago, they whined about it constantly, in almost every other video, how they didn't get enough views, and they worked so, so hard. but honestly most of their videos were pretty low edit, they didn't do much but talk about themselves, and then they'd get maybe... 20-40 comments per video, and i left comments occasionally, and they literally would never reply to a single person, they wouldn't even heart stuff. it was all 'take', and feeling owed and entitled, but they didn't actually engage with anyone who watched their videos. floors me how disassociated a lot of social media people are about the realities of most people's professional and day to day life & obligations, and yet constantly whining for attention & affirmation, when they give none of that back to their viewers. it's all very self-absorbed and lacking of awareness. i appreciate you answering peoples questions in this video, i learned quite a bit about aspects i didn't know. & while i would love to watch some gaming content from you (i'm not a big WoW player, i raid once a week on classic in my husband's guild, but i do it to spend time with him because he's always away for work), but i totally get not wanting to monetize all your hobbies. some things our just for us, and for us to relax. i hope you reach 100k subscribers soon! you deserve it for all your hard work & actually treating it as a 9-5 job, haha.

Hi :) One thought that I have about the: people click on videos where people talk about make-up more is: I watch videos when I get ready. So a video where a person only applies make up is not that interesting. I still enjoy the visual aspect because if I hear sth that is interesting I see the product or how the person applies the product that is interesting to me. Maybe back in the day most people watches videos to truly learn about application and how people do their make up. Regarding what you said about no one wanting to see makeup being applied anymore, they just want to hear you discuss it - I do agree, in terms of what I like, BUT - Theresa Is Dead does something I like where she talks about the makeup while she inserts a box with footage of her applying it. I like that. Watching application can be a bit boring, but those two things together - the showing and the telling - are very helpful.

I hardly ever comment on KZbin videos even though I watch them pretty much every day, but when i do it’s for good reason. I just can not believe the things that people say to other people on here. When you were discussing about how if you wear sweat pants and a pony tail you get both positive and negative comments, but why does anyone have any commentary on that at all? I was sitting here just thinking I never even pay attention to that stuff. Like how is it relevant? I come to watch the video for the content, and don’t pay attention to details like that? I feel like everything in this video is why I became a follower of your channel. I don’t subscribe to very many channels and this one has become one I view most videos on. I completely agree with not monetizing everything you like to do. Everyone tells me I should open a shop since I sew, but just seeing how people tear apart everyone - boy would that kill a hobby that I enjoy very quickly!

Your comment about not wanting to monetize gaming is really important. I'm a hobbyist photographer and I don't do paid shoots often but people ask why it's not my full-time job. If photography became my full-time job I would lose agency and probably not enjoy it anymore. I hate the hustle culture idea of having to monetize every hobby you have. Although I do love when you talk about gaming (I also love video games!) I'd hate to see you lose your enjoyment of it from trying to make money off of it. Really enjoyed this video, Angie!

I appreciate your honesty about how “ hard” your job is. It looks absolutely time intensive for sure , but when I hear ( mostly) younger creators complaining I role my eyes. Think of nurses working 10-12 hours per day on their feet , being a construction worker , being a disability worker etc. Thoroughly enjoyed this Q&A . I do occasionally enjoy watching a full-on eyeshadow tutorial, but only when I have the time to really sit down and just play with makeup. But as far as the day-to-day, I am definitely one of the ones who likes your talk-y videos a lot better, because I listen to KZbin in the background when I'm working on other things. It's nice to have friendly chatter in the background when I'm cleaning, cooking, etc. :-)

I guess a reason why videos that are just applying makeup do worse (on your channel and overall) might be because a lot of people put on KZbin while doing other things, like listening to podcasts. I mentioned before that I like „listening“ to your videos so I really enjoy chatty videos. The main reason my Watch Later list is in the hundreds is because I don’t always want to pay close attention to the video, but some videos deserve that or don’t make sense otherwise. And on a different topic: thank you for all the inspiration you put out! I don’t all of your looks (I‘d even say I don’t like most of them) but you explain your techniques and intentions so well that I often get inspired anyway! I have taken to putting a colourful shimmer in my inner corner with more neutral-ish looks and that /really/ elevated my makeup game. Also the Nyx High Glass Finishing Powder has become pretty much my favourite product of all time 🥰

Just listening to what you have to say Angie you are one incredibly smart person! What you are saying can spread across so many different aspects of life not just having a channel but then you could literally read the phonebook to me and I’d be happy 😊, I just find everything about you fun and honestly relaxing your voice has that quality to it (soothing) and even though you and I are very very different people ( you’re goals girl) I feel I can relate to you very easily tbh . I’m my experience women as beautiful as you are have been extremely vicious to me there is absolutely nothing even remotely snobby about you , no problem with not wearing makeup and being in comfy clothes yes you love fashion but there’s nothing conceited about you you honestly come across as extremely relatable even though you hate that word idk 🤷‍♀️ if I’m saying anything correctly but you’re my absolute favourite person on this platform just something about comes across in every video that I can nod at and say ya I totally get that . I’ve cut so many people out of my life because they made feel bad about myself in one way or another it’s not my fault I got sick and just couldn’t do the same things as before, I’m not putting myself into situations anymore where I can’t walk or use my hands for a week to appease someone else and a real friend would never ever except that and it was one of your videos that helped me see what was really going on with my so called friends. It is really hard as an adult to make new friends to put ourselves out there and I didn’t realize the huge disservice I was doing to myself until you spoke of this very thing in a video you don’t give yourself enough credit for how a simple GRWM can do so very much for the viewer xo.

I love when trolls leave horrid messages. I just remind myself that every 10 and 14 year old has a voice now, without their parents letting them know those comments are inappropriate. And its been that way almost 20 years now, so those kids who were that age 20 years ago, sometimes they're still mentally that age. You just gotta roll your eyes and assume that's what's going on.
