Actually, there's another point to make there. I'm a fantasy fiction writer and a professional ghostwriter. When I was acquiring the skill of writing a book which was at 21, I was constantly dealing with crippling self-doubt because I was so far from where I wanted to be, all I wanted was to write good books. But now I'm getting paid full time to write books and now I find myself looking at your videos feeling the same self-doubt. He's so far ahead of me when we're literally the same age. So the point is, that self-doubt never goes away because it has nothing to do with your skill, it's a mindset problem. And self-doubt will consume you if you let it. The good thing is if you recognize that, you can nip that ugly monster in the bud early in your career and then you're golden, baby :) As always, stunning video Sterling.

In an age where we have all the information democratized to us we have no excuse to not do work. Again we have the opportunity to learn so much however it all depends on the quality of work and the time your spend on your work. This has the effect of being in a flow state where all attention is focused on the task at hand enriching the quality of life. Ironically our hard work is what fullfills ones self and while not all the activities seem fun to people it doesnt matter what activity it is. The fact that were learning and constantly improving is what makes the work so much better. As a random subscriber I'd like to thank you for your message and for your work its really awesome to see someone who is striving towards improvement. While that can be generally applied to anyone who puts in said work, I appreciate the quality you put into your videos thank you Sterling.

You are so real, and i really appreciate it. Great fkn video, one of the best videos for beginners in a creative field. Because of what you said like "most of you are good" hit me, cause i think many of us beginners realise that we are pretty good and have an eye for this craft and then kind of expect that people will see this and appreciate our work and offer us opportunities to get in to this crazy buisness. But even if youre born with a crazy talent for photography or music or whatever, you still have to put in the work to get there you know.

I’m so thankful to hear this❤️ I had an amazing week doing something I was not interested in, but it turned out really fun and now it’s one of the things that I’m gonna focus on. I’m not great, I’m not smart. But if there’s one thing I can be proud of, that is doing what I wasn’t gonna do and think about something I didn’t wanna think about. After I watch this video it assures me that what I’ve gone through and what I’m going through right now will make me a better person each day if I work hard and focus on it. Thank you❤️

I think someone becomes "Pro" when they start making a living from it. There are pros that arent very good but make 5x more money than me. Theyre a pro on a different aspect, the business part. While someone like me struggles to pay the bills, but have the skill to be charging 5x as much with no clients willing to pay. But either way I think it comes down to is it your profession or not. Because in order to get to that level you have to apply yourself atleast a little. Which would seperate you from the hobbyist regardless.

I went and watched a few interviews and videos about Ira Glass and The Gap, and this concept of taste and talent has articulated this feeling I have felt forever and it is so incredibly frustrating and motivating simultaneously. and wanting to be able to create heaps of different things in different mediums HECK. I want to focus on Oil painting as a skill and medium but doesn't satisfy the craving to make create like making stuff digitally, or life drawing or industrial design which I study full time. flippen heck there is no satisfying the creative craving with the gap between talent and taste AAH

Amazing video! I love making videos, taking photos and editing, I have a KZbin channel where I teach and do these things, I started my channel about 2 years ago amd I only have 206 subs. I really want to grow an audience but since I do videos in Swedish, the audience that I reach out to is pretty small, I think that if I start making videos in English I would reach out to a bigger audience, what do you, and the people reding this, think about my situation, should I start making videos in English, or keep on with Swedish videos? Love your channel! //Ebbe
