I think your approach to the interview worked well. Perhaps you could vary the game you play; 9, 8, and Bank to vary the tactics you could discuss with the interviewee.

It's a great format. I enjoy it. I cannot wish anything else but to see as many other professional players as possible. Stephen Hendry does something similar in the world of snooker and it is awesome.

Good video. I remember playing in my first few golf tournaments I was so nervous it felt like I never played the game before. Most Bizarre feeling. I hit some shots I would wonder how was that even possible. Lol. It basically all comes down to experiance and learning to deal with mistakes, failure, winning and mental side along with the pressure and competition. 14:58 I use that approach with banks. I use 2 diamond systems (one to double check the other) and just tell myself to trust the math. This is one instance when the mental fortitude helps since you have to forget anything that may be distracting you and just focus on fundamentals.

Really enjoyed this. Seen this type of format with snooker legends where they talk about pay games and opponents, which is a lot of fun but they only briefly touch on the playing and mental aspect. Try this if you use a Magic Rack or one of the knock offs. Placing each ball individually is tedious and one of the reasons some people don't like the Magic Rack. It's too easy to disturb some of the balls which you just positioned. Instead, do this: Arrange the balls in a conventional rack, put the Magic Rack in place on the spot, and then roll the racked balls over the Magic Rack much like you would rack the balls without the Magic Rack but with a couple of differences. Lift the conventional rack off the table by about a centimeter so that it doesn't disturb the Magic Rack as you slide the balls into position. Roll the rack and balls forward and keep your eye on the one ball. The racking motion should be a bit slower and more gentle than normal. Try to stop the conventional rack just as the one ball is over the spot and let the remaining balls click into place over the holes in the Magic Rack. Most of the time I am successful on the first try. With this method you can rack quickly (or even more quickly than normal) but with the added advantage of having the perfect rack with each ball touching because of the Magic Rack. Try it.

I would do the interview like you did. Awesome But also play a real match where you are not talking RT 5 or something - winners break. And also ask 10 questions you ask to everyone and then compare answers. E.g; how do you play this shot with position on next ball And then compare all the answers and ways they shoot it To see how different pool brains work

I spent a decade on the road with a player who eventually turned pro and had some success on the tour.. Winning 2 US Opens.. Eventually, I came up with a bad beat jar, the idea being any time he wanted to gripe about what happened (especially playing 9-ball), pay $5 to the bad beat jar.. We used the $$$ for gas, food, room rent, etc.. The point being, get a job, because I don’t wanna hear it..

One of the things that frustrates me when I travel around playing pool is having to always ask ´what rules do you play here?´ Do you ever think there will come a time when the rules for 8,9 and 10 ball are standardised the world over, just like snooker?

The future is to make the pockets 2 1/2 inches so that a ball barely passes when you have a direct line to the pocket. Then they will turn the rails into sponges so that bank shots are completely eliminated from the game.

it drives me crazy to hear a pro whining about 4" pockets. They are so used to being able to hit the 3rd diamond (from the side pocket), at an angle, and having the ball still go in. Especially on the new cloth they are always playing on. Small pockets will make them legitimately better players, instead of relying on slop around the corner pockets.
