newts love to lay eggs in blanket weed. Fry also rely on blankeet weed as a source of food from the micro flora which live on it. I would tolerate small amounts as getting rid gets rid of things which eat it. A stick twirled round collects blanket weed which can be composted and fed to fry

HI Roy, I understand. I think a remove of all blanket weed is tough in any case and a small amount doesn't hurt.

I used blanket weed to keep my pond clean actually because I had a ton of goldfish that we making orange algae. The blanket weed cleaned it all out. I just did a clear out once in a while. working with nature not against it.

I’ve actually tried it, and it did work. How it works on a large scale I’m not sure. But with 400 different types of blanket weed you can’t guarantee it would work with them all. AND it’s still not dealing with the cause, no food in the water it can’t grow simple as that. I forgot to add in my video there is also sonar which by all accounts is very effective, problem is if it stops working for any reason blanket weed comes back, again dealing with the problem.

A bit in a wildlife pond is fine, certainly in a swimming pond it’s unsightly. But it isn’t harmful, wouldn’t put it on my toast though!

HI Dale the enzymes in barley straw can help specific types of blanket weed, but it doesn't address the cause and it it doesn't work for all blanket weed

@@PondsbyMichaelWheati used copper pipe instead of my fountain on my pump week later water clear as glass. Also sorted my mates.

@@RyanFountain-x9l Copper can work but doesn't work for every strand of blanket weed
