To explain the Abusing chao part, the reason why said chao, Dune, does not evole, is,well, because the hapiness stat was not at the 50 maximum as it should be. Or, to put it simply, chao become sad when bad owner abuse chao, chao no turn into chaos chao anymore.

MauveTrees I know that, but my neutral chaos chao and hero chaos chao kept the flame after they evolved; but after you give it an animal that makes the flame disappear, it's gone forever. I've tried giving them half fishes to see if they would get the flame again after evolution but it didn't work they have to evolve while having the flame.

This is so weird.. the abuse from the dark side turned him into a Hero Chao and all the extra animals from Shadow made him become a Dark Chao, but... you'd expect him to still turn into a Chaos Chao, except the Angel or Devil kind o_O

Stuff to check for a soon-to-be Chaos Chao: 1: The Chao has reincarnated two or more times (aka 'transformed', you can check with the Chao Doc for this) 2: The Chao is a baby when you give all 21 animals (checklist can help!) 3: Happiness, happiness, happiness!! This is VERY important, pet and feed your Chao heaps, this is what likely throws people off even when they do everything else right. Hope this helps :)

Chaos Chao are a unique type of Chao, as they are immortal and never change their appearance (so they won't get animal parts). This type loosely resembles Chaos Zero (the blue watery creature), and there's a Hero, Dark and Neutral version of Chaos Chao. They're really cool looking! However they can be tricky to get, the requirements are in the description.

None Type, also known as Stamina Type or Normal Type by others, is the evolution type your Chao becomes if all the other stats (run/power/fly/swim) isn't specialised or raised that significantly. So you could say it's caused by the absence of run/fly/power/swim stats or a balance between them.

Thanks mate :) glad to be of assistance Getting the right alignment can get kinda finicky sometimes with the different versions in SA1 and SA2. I always judge by how they look and where their emote ball colour appears on the alignment spectrum, so you know what type they're becoming.

It helps to pet the Chao with both sides to keep it neutral. When you hand feed and pick up the Chao (or just anything that makes the heart appear), alignment will change. So try to have Hero and Dark characters looking after the Chao as equally as possible. Hero and Dark gardens do slightly influence the Chao's alignment too, so be careful with that as well.

As your Chao get's older, it's second evolution will become more apparent. Usually having a decent level in stamina can make second evolution appear sooner, having a Chao at Age 3 with 30 Levels of Stamina is one way to make your Chao fully (or very close to) into second evolution

I take it the 'shiny light' was a flame ball that happens when you give a half-fish to the Chao. If you got a Dark/None type instead of Dark/Chaos, then perhaps either any of these could have occurred: Chao wasn't happy enough, it hasn't reincarnated two or more times, or maybe you missed an animal

The time span is a little different, (I think it differs slightly between versions) each Chao year goes for about 3.5 hours, and Chao reincarnate the moment they reach the age of 7 (I've had non-chaos chao who had the age of 6 when I checked medical chart)

If a Chao detests any character, due to negligence and abuse given by that character, you may have quite a bit of work to do. Happiness can still be given from all characters, including the ones a Chao may hate. If you want to keep that Chao as a Hero alignment, spoiling it with Hero characters may help, but you'll need to do it a LOT Each time you abuse a Chao, happiness decreases by -3 or -5 (from throwing or hitting respectively), and increases by +1 every time a heart appears.

@evand777 Jewel are very different to Shiny. Jewels have a single solid texture that overrides any colour and tone, while Shinies have a visible colour with a Shiny coat over them. Appearance-wise, they are similar, but breeding-wise they are quite different.

Some Chao files will have certain egg colours available at different times (and at different amount of emblems). The best way is to copy your Sonic file to another memory card and make a new Chao file there, and you may be able to get egg colours which weren't previously available to you.

@WANT3D12 depends how long you take care of your Chao,it takes roughly 15 hours for one Chao from the start of its life (an egg) to grow up and eventually reincarnate. So it may take up to 30 hours of game time for a Chao to reincarnate twice.

So if you pet and raise the Chao with a Hero Character, just alternate next time and then use a Dark character. The colour of the Chao's emote ball can indicate which alignment its closer to, try to maintain the Chao's emote ball to yellow. Its wings can also indicate this too.

There's been this idea of Chao being 'spoiled' from being petted and cared for too much. It is only slightly true, but spoiling Chao doesn't change them a great deal compared to properly loved Chao, they'll both still reincarnate in the end. Chao don't really have a threshold on how much love they should get, if you're worried about your Chao being spoilt, leaving them alone should be fine.

For the last question, you surely can! Chaos Drives can balance stat influence, so a non-Chaos can still potentially be Chaos. But if you're unsure what evolution your Chao was geared towards, give 80 yellow drives and 40 purple drives, along with 80 run drives and 40 power drives. These numbers may seem odd, but influence is maximised when you give 80 of one colour of Chaos Drive. And 40 drives just places the influence in equlibrium. Fly cancels out Swim, Run cancels out Power

I'd reccommend using a checklist nonetheless, because another requirement is to keep your soon-to-be Chaos Chao a stamina/none type, and giving too many extra animals may make your chao into a swim/power/fly/run instead.

That's the re-use animal glitch, stand some distance from the Chao and place down the item. When done correctly the Chao will take the animal, but you can then use the same animal again when it bounces off the Chao.

@x1ShotYourDeadx Pretty much, if you want to make a Chaos Chao right after it's second reincarnation then it's good to THEN avoid giving chaos drives. After the Chao has evolved (gone into a Blue Cocoon), it's then okay to give it drives again.

So don't worry if swim happens to be the highest stat, it'll only become a swim type if you give it swim animals/chaos drives. You can do that, but you really need to keep track of how much stat influence your Chao has, so you can balance it accordingly before it evolves. I'd recommend raising the stats after evolution, since Chaos Chao are immortal, you have plenty of time to increase its stats to level 99.

1. Petting until it becomes Dark is the better (and cheaper!) way to get a soon-to-be-Chaos Chao into the alignment you want. 2. In terms of stat ranking, I believe the Stamina ranking will increase up one rank when it becomes Chaos (i.e. Stamina rank C goes to B). Apart from that, points/levels of stats won't change upon evolving into a Chaos Chao, you'll need to increase them with animals/chaos drives.

@jonthedit Yes, that Chao died. A white cocoon signifies death, a pink cocoon signifies reincarnation. You need to have a Chao with a happiness value greater than 31 in order for it to reincarnate. So don't abuse your Chao and make sure to give it plenty of items in order to prevent it from dieing.

It may appear that way. But if you have, say, a Chao as a full fledged Hero/Fly/Fly, which was only given Fly animals/drives throughout its life, and then give it swim, you may notice that the Chao's appearance will go to Hero/Fly/Fly, to Hero/Fly/None, and then Hero/Fly/Swim. Giving this Hero/Fly/Fly Chao a bunch of Run drives will also cause a change, but it will be stuck between Fly and Run influence, resembling a cross between Hero/Fly/Fly and Hero/Fly/Run.

stand some distance away from Chao, and place down item in front of them. Very useful glitch.

Or just feed them a fruit to keep them in one location, petting helps but only for a short time. I usually rely on petting or picking up/putting down, you get better at doing the glitch overtime.
