Hi good video . i actualy took apart 5 engines and we tool stats . we then ran the products over 11k miles . the clean up was remarkable. the best way we found was to put 2 bottles into half a tank and give it some welly . run it just prior to emergency tank . then fill quart tank premium fuel . repeat times . do this perhaps 15 times a year and the reduction in carbon is around 65% which is huge imo and all.for the sake of a few quid . better performance . more mpg and less repair bills thank you

I've started using Hydra DPB-100 in my C3 Picasso 1.6HDi that is mainly used for urban driving on supermarket fuel. It has 65k miles on the clock and fuel consumption had risen steeply, I was only getting 42-44 mpg. I'd tried Redex and seen no improvement at all. I'm now halfway through my third tank with the DPB-100 and I've averaged 59 mpg. The engine seems quieter, smoother and pulls much better now too. I would recommend the product to anyone who thinks their engine would benefit from a cleaner. Its the only one I've found that actually works. I have no connection with the company, I'm just a satisfied customer.

You can have around year 2000 car if you get one with ALH engine code. If you want a bit more performance, BRM is a good one, too. Some PD engines are also good if they have been *always* used with spec oils (505.01 where the .01 is the really important part). We have a year 1999 car with AJM engine code which is still rock solid even today. Even ALH has EGR but there you can use VCDS to re-calibrate it to never open the valve even without blocking it. With PD engines, you should never ever block the EGR because it's used to control the temperature of the turbo which might get damaged if you block the EGR valve and run it fast. I used to own a car with engine code AFN and I was really happy with the engine (the car body rusted too fast, though). But according to hobbyists, the ALH and BRM (and I think BRW, too) are even better engines.

I've had my 2007 Volvo XC90 2.4 D5 for over a year with 73K miles. Initially, it was a bit sluggish, did not like starting an engine lumpy running when cold. I thought I would apply cleaner additives to the fuel tank but, my Volvo specialist (ex.volvo technician) said a big NO !! Just use premium diesel constantly, and engine oil change & filter change every 6 months (or 6000 mls). He recommends BP premium fuel. I followed his plan and my xc90 has been transformed into low emissions, reliable starting, smooth engine car. He inspected all the fuel injectors and reported very clean like new. This fuel works and I don't need any additives. Also, advised a blast up the motorway for 25 minutes every month or so for DPF health.

Anyone here use Millers diesel ecomax? I’ve found it improves throttle response and vastly reduces regenerations - I’m using it in a 2016 Euro 6 VW 2.0tdi - don’t know anyone else using it with a vehicle this new, it means I fill up with supermarket fuel without worrying about lack of additives & consequent sooty engine and DPF. I haven’t noticed any fuel consumption benefits but then that wasn’t what I was aiming for.

I use Millers Ecomax additive in my 2 litre Kia Sportage nearly every time I fill up. I've been using it for over 10years on previous cars too. I'm absolutely convinced that the engine runs more smoothly with it and it definitely gives a few more mpg. I think it's rather like a choice between using the expensive diesel at the pumps or using the additive and using the additive works out considerably less expensive My fuel of preference is Sainsbury's diesel, which is the only supermarket brand I ever use, and when this is not available I use BP or Shell I've no idea why Sainsbury's fuel gives more mpg but it certainly seems to! I used to regularly go on a 300 mile journey to visit a relative and there was a Sainsbury's around the halfway point on the journey. I never previously used supermarket fuels but one time when I was traveling down I was running a bit short of fuel and my sister talked me into filling up there On Kia's there is a mpg guage and the mpg suddenly improved within the first 20 miles of filling up there I thought at first it was just a coincidence until I repeated it several times with the same result!

I have two of these cars, 2007 2.5T my own and 2011 D5 (used for research!). You need to be very careful when using additives. In petrol engines, additives can affect the smoothness of the engine. It will take ages to go back to where it was. What happens is when you use additives, it can clean the nozzles or make some subtle changes to the injectors fuel injection properties. Then the ECU will take ages to learn the new normal by adjusting the individual injector injection time etc. When I bought my 2.5T S80 several years ago, the engine was very smooth and you don't feel it. Then I used a bottle of additive and guess what, the next day the startup idle was rough and the computer takes a couple of minutes after each cold start to iron out the roughness. This car's engine management software is quite sensitive. Don't mess with the engine using third party products. Let the engine to sort its problems out in its own way. Buy a Vida Dice scanner, it will be a good investment if you are going to use this car for sometime.

@MikkoRantalainen6 ай бұрын
DPF cleaners can only help burn off the carbon from the filter but cannot obviously fix the problems caused by low quality engine oil. The most important thing with DPF equipped engines is to always use engine oil that has no particles that end up in the filter. Check the spec and if it says something like "VW 507.01" then the oil you use must have all those numbers. If the oil you would want to use is "VW 507.00" instead, it's not good for your engine. VW oil specs are interesting because they put the most important stuff at the end of the string. Those are not like software version numbers where minor difference is usually okay.

@@robertasviskupaitis9195 Couple of things. People will argue that no diff in premium diesel fuel or supermarket? Watch Fifth Gear Vid on the hub dyno their film crew carrier. Case in point being my own personal belief and from experience either BP Ultimate or Shell V Power diesel fuels yes more expensive short term but long term trust me on this you'll be glad in the end! Both are well formulated and when you use cheaper fuels when you start getting injector, EGR, high pressure fuel pump probs, DPF's etc it costs allot more than using good quality fuel/s. See like petrol has an octane rating diesel has a cetane rating best being BP Ultimate. You may only gain 2-4 bhp but the longer term your car will thank you for it. In addition Forte is prob the Rolex of additives they do many in tank products. DPF cleaner, variable geometry turbo cleaners also does the EGR valve, and a diesel fuel system cleaner and diesel injector cleaner. Usual rule of thumb is every 2-3 tankful's use either of these products in turn and your car should run hopefully like clockwork? Forte is dearer than the other brands but you get what you pay for buy cheap pay twice my motto. @MikkoRantalainen6 ай бұрын
If you have the DPF light constantly on on the dashboard, I would recommend getting it scanned ASAP. At least with VW engines, it means that regen has already failed and if you run it too long that way, the regen will be disabled permanently until the whole DPF has been replaced. Before that happens, it's possible to force the regen on via scan tool (e.g. VCDS) which fixes the problem.

@Greek God yes, diesels also have spark plugs, the difference is that they are usually only used upon cold starts, when the compression isn't enough to create the combustion. Now, leaving terminology aside, and going back to my initial statement: if one of the plugs (glow plugs) are bad, DPF regeneration might not occur. You can check it out.

@@hankscorpio6924 it does work. I had gummed up rings from running on veg oil & diesel mix. Low compression on cylinder number 4 and loads of blowby. After a week of shell vpower and injector cleaner I was backup to full compression on all cylinders and blowby gone.

@@arbit3r spot on mate, there's a reason cheap fuel is cheap. Mine seems to run real good on Esso Synergy premium, BP Premium and Shell VPower. Last week one of the BPs in my ends got bought out by 'Jet' and I quickly topped up half tank thinking it was BP 😳 boy you can feel it instantly the throttle response to top speed and the pedals felt rough, I just went and filled the rest with v-power before I went on a motorway run by the next day it was smooth AF.

Hi I have a 2013 Toyota Avensis T4 diesel and every couple of months the engine warning lights come on usually in heavy traffic. When I run a diagnostics check it tells me there is a fault with one of the injectors. Would it worth my while trying an additive like Syprin Diesel Cleaner before going down the expensive road of new injectors. Unfortunately my car doesn't do a lot of motorway running and I haven't been using the better fuel but will now thanks to your excellent advice. Lovely Volvo by the way. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for commenting! yes I would definitely recommend trying a diesel injector cleaner such as redex to clean your injectors:) in my eyes £4 could save you a fortune! but if it doesn't it was only £4 😁

Have a look at Archoil products for cleaning injectors - if the Redex was unsuccessful.

Millers ecomax in imo is the best injector and internal engine cleaner I've tried and it's cheap 15 quid a bottle and it lasts weeks. I've got a video on my channel of how it cleaned my engine but this was on a petrol. But I had been using it for years on a bmw 330d e46 150k on the clock no injector problems egr any problems like that and was running 250bhp remap on dyno no exhaust smoke either can't recommend this stuff enough.

Shell don’t own any refineries in the uk and have no power or authority over any refinery in the uk so your friend is not telling the truth. Supermarket fuel is the same as branded fuel.

I believe Tesco fuel is texaco ?
@andrewdouglas1963 Жыл бұрын
Sorry but I don't think what that person from shell told you was entirely accurate. All fuel sold in the UK has to meet a British and European standard. Engine manufacturers spend millions of pounds developing engines to run on this exact fuel. Quite often in fuel distribution terminals, all different branded fuels all get pumped into the same tanks and computers keep the stock records. So BP, shell, Esso Tesco and Asda fuel is all the same from the same tanks. Look at Northern Ireland for example. There are only 3 fuel terminals in Belfast. Exolum, puma and valero. They mainly bring in fuel from Petroineos Grangemouth refinery and Valero refinery from Pembroke wales. Texaco, maxol, BP Sainsbury's, Asda and all the other forecourts all draw their fuel from these 3 terminals which get their fuel from the 2 mentioned refineries. The only difference is the additives added into the fuel line when being loaded onto the trucks. Typically the premium fuels have the most additive and the supermarket has the least additive. But as I said, engines are designed to run on the basis stuff, not the premium stuff. Premium fuel and additives may have some marginal benefits. Personally I've only ever bought the basic supermarket diesel. I've had egr blockage in an old corolla verso diesel but that is typical of those engines regardless of fuel type. Now I've a 3 litre BMW X3 with 140,000 miles on it. No engine problems at all during my ownership from 80,000 miles and using only basic fuel with no additives.

I personally don't think there is any difference between premium and supermarket fuel, if it wasn't upto uk/ combustion engine compatible or standard, it would not be on the market !! For my own satisfaction I see Police vehicles regularly filling up at Sainsbury and their cars are worked very hard, if it's good enough for the Police BOW'S it's good enough for the average Driver imo... it would be a good idea to test my theory if you feel it's tight to do Bud, Great video though ☺

Idiots buy cheap supermarket diesel not good for engine, then spend more monies buying miracle snake oil like millers & red X. Instead of buying shell or BP using diesel,car for what it was made for long journeys on motorways

I live next to a refinery and I can tell you that the lorries all fill up from the same giant tanks and then I assume they either go somewhere else to put their own secret version of Millers or Redex in, and then deliver it to the pump. I have compared many additives using their safety data sheets which show the ingredients, and they're all pretty much the same with slightly different concentrations of each ingredient.

Sorry, Its just not true. Supermarket Diesel is identical. The science and the data proves it. It is exactly the same as the posh fuels who tell you they clean the engine and do super things! Its' pure invention and the oil companies rub their hands together every-time you go premium. If you must use additives then use two bottles of redex every three fill-ups. Thats the kind of ratio you need to make an effective difference. The best way to keep your diesel sweet is to run it consistently over longish distances on a regular basis. It s not sexy and its not magic, its just the way it is with diesel's. I have 4.4 V8 twin turbo diesel and it runs sweet, as long as I give it the gun now and then and don't do silly short or urban runs all the time. save yourself a fortune and go supermarket :)
