As an 18 year old, I found that my choice to not drink alcohol, and not wanting to be next to someone smoking/vaping had lead me to very minimal friends, but I’m half I’ve stuck to my choices. It really makes social life hard but makes the friends i have more special
@maneskinnnnn71902 жыл бұрын
why are your friends more special because they dont' drink? everyone is equal, not drinking doesn't make you superior
@Jazzvibesicl2 жыл бұрын
@@maneskinnnnn7190 I mean it’s nice to have friends that respect the fact I don’t drink as I’ve always found it hard to make friends due to their social lives revolving around drinking. People can drink what the want i don’t care I just don’t want to be around it

Keep it up, do not Fall for smoking or drinking, unless you realy hate your life and want to die sooner. Just lost a former”drinking friend” (I’m sober for 7 1/2 years) he was not even 65…

Loved the interspersed the biology segments 🤓🧫👩🔬 Honestly, you have such a way with explaining science! 👏🏼 I would absolutely love to see more videos like this, personal stories combined with scientific facts. Really creative and interesting 🤗

Well-presented, Holly! I rarely ever drink alcohol. I have a bit of champagne only with my close drinker friend or New Year’s. I know it’s super acidifying and unhealthy so I only have a few sips between large amounts of water. I am an athlete and contortionist so I have to keep my system in pristine condition so it doesn’t stiffen up or cumulatively and insidiously create something worse. Plus it can be super aging internally and externally so I don’t care for alcohol for that additional reason.

I'm currently trying a vegan diet but finding it hard to get proper information about the health related pros and cons of this. You should make a biology video about this and how to get all the nutrients your body needs threw a vegan diet. Would be very helpful for people considering it.

Hi holly! Loved the video! I have one recommendation to you: try to always know where the drink comes from, I mean if you are in a club always watch while they are making it and never leave a drink alone there are a lot of people that put drugs on girls drinks so please be careful 💕take care and enjoy the ride!

Holly, I never drink alcoholic beverages because I do not like the taste. They are too strong and I find that it can cause certain health issues.

Great content. Some of your videos definitely should be used in school for teaching. From a father of two: Don't feel pressured into drinking. If your friends pressure you ... they probably are no "real" friends. It's best to try it out with friends who "respect" that you don't drink. And friends you trust to take care of you in case you get too much. My "adult" principle: Never drink to suppress bad things/feelings (They will come back worse). Only drink when you're in a good mood.

I love this video so much, listening to you talk about drinking as I started uni in September and it's been a big dilemma for me as to whether I want to drink or not so this was really interesting and reassuring :)

Love the video! :D I don't drink that much, which is basically sacrilege in Australia, but I do when I'm at dinner with friends and I hate drinking so much that I can't control my own body (I did it once, never ever again. I think it's also important to say that you can drink alcohol without losing control it just depends on how much you drink and what you drink.

Interesting view. I did not know alcohol was absorbed in the mouth. I tried to find the specifics but couldn't. I understand the stomach and intestinal lumen, liver pathways because it is covered in anatomy and physiology. You mentioned the brain, okay the blood went through the liver and your implying the detoxification and transmission capacity got overloaded and acetaldehyde travels to the brain??? If you know of more detailed sources I would love the links. Just subscribed to ByHollyG so hopefully I can find more details.

I love having a cocktail like a mojito now and then because I enjoy the taste, but I’ve never had more than 2 cocktails and never drank enough to ‘get drunk,’ just a bit tipsy ;) bc I wouldn’t want to lose control or experience the side-effects of a hangover the next day.. btw you should try amaretto - it’s a sweet liquor made of almonds (you only drink a small glass)

Guess I should add that I do drink. Scotch mostly. I like it very much but try not to drink that often. The great thing about alcoholic drinks is I think it makes interesting people more interesting and elevates conversation to a more honest level. Until you drink too much. There's a sweet spot. Though I also think it tends to make pretty odious people more odious. P.s. They do make alcoholic kombucha if you ever want to go for that lol.

Well done :) by the way we call them Späti in germany 😉 As always: you do you! I detest the feeling of loosing control over my body. So I do drink alcohol if I want some, but never too much. As soon as I feel a bit tipsy, I stop. I want to enjoy it without troubling side effects. My favourite alcohol is a classic Gin Tonic or a Berliner Weiße in summer (Berlin girl😏).

I have told them this and they make me feel comfortable when around people. This might seem dumb but faking confidence really helps Edit- please consider professional help if these aren't helpful

Something I didn't learn until years and years later, is that sugary and sweet drinks make you sick and lead to the worst hangovers. I use to not drink because of the control factor (as you mentioned) but also because I would get really sick and often throw up only after 2 or 3 drinks in a night. Then finally one day someone told me how sweet drinks give terrible hangovers and it all started to make sense. Also, if you like Kombucha, definitely try the hard stuff. Its super good and basically doesn't taste any different from the non alcoholic kind.
