Sometimes the deep prime xd left some crazy changes to my portraits….

Had DxO for some time now. High ISO shots from my OM1mkii are all sent through PR4, wouldn't be without it, it is like having a FF camera without the cost.

Great to hear you enjoy the software! It really is worth it.

I agree with your findings but for lower ISO, less noisy raws, ACR/Lightroom does a very good job of preserving detail. Thanks for uploading.
@MarkDumbletonАй бұрын
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I must compare the results from lower ISO’s between DXO and LR. Thanks for watching.
@generaltso940215 күн бұрын
The first few times I used PR4 I was sure it used black magic. Makes using ISO 12800 on the OM-1 a breeze and of course as you show here 25600 on FF is now quite usable. Unfortunately its quite resource intensive and many folks who haven't had to use much of a GPU will find their machines lacking. My previous PC had a 2060 with 6gb of VRAM. 20MB OM-1 files took about 1.5 min with PR3. Using PR4 they took 7.5 min. $2,500 of new PC later, with a Nvidia RTX 4000 SFF card my OM-1 files now take just a few seconds.

I was a big fan and first customer of DxO, but I really hate their update policy, which makes it expensive to stay updated (same for other DxO products). This said, I still believe it has a slight edge over the LR AI

Adobe Denoise AI fixes my Noise up perfectly
@MarkDumbletonАй бұрын
It certainly does get expensive to stay up to date of new versions that’s for sure. I agree about the slight edge of LR DENOISE.

As a Fuji user do I need this?
@MarkDumbleton8 күн бұрын
Thanks for the question. As far as I know ( I haven’t ever used Fuji) I think DxO has issues with the Fuji Raw files and is not supported. But I stand to be corrected on this one. I’ll do some more digging about the compatibility.

I tend to try and take Photos more than sit behind a Computer >> I use Adobe Camera RAW as I pay for it >> I use Adobe Denoise AI for Noise and it all works fine and I procees in P Shop afterwards

One area where I've had a problems is with stacking 20+ stacked images. The lens correction can create artifact/halos when images stacked. As for the subscription issue, one needs to purchase each upgrade so it's not really a buy once thing.

Thanks for the comment and thanks for sharing your experience regarding multiple images. I’ve yet to try batch processing but have noted your info.
@davehenson5390Ай бұрын
You mentioned about LR Denoise taking forever - I had this problem (up to 18 minutes for some images!) and it is a hardware issue. Adobe is moving more and more to using the memory on the graphics card for doing the AI/Denoise processing. So if you have an integrated graphics card the LR is competing with all the other functions to run the program. Similarly, older graphics cards (before 2013) work as memory in isolation, whereas newer graphics cards swap their memory with the main RAM on the computer. The answer is to upgrade your graphics card (preferably 8GB) AND make sure you have at least 8GB RAN on your computer. Buying DxO will be much cheaper!
@MarkDumbletonАй бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I now know a little bit more about why performance can be slow in LR with AI. DXO definitely a cheaper option.

DXO PureRaw 4 just saved my closest encounter shots of a Marsh Harrier 128,000 & then 10,000 ISO . These days getting close and the sharpness of your lens counts the most no longer ruined by high ISO . I agree with your analysis 👍

I appreciate the comment and happy to hear you agree with my thoughts. Glad the software managed to save some of your images 😊

I absolutely love DXO PureRaw 4. Thanks for recommending it Mark. My images are so much sharper and the noise is so much better. Especially because I’m shooting on a crop sensor body.

My pleasure, It will be excellent for a crop sensor.

Thanks Mark. Another very useful video. Have you tried batch processing with DXO raw 4. I would be interested to know if the software process individual images in a batch with differing ISO levels. Or, if the batch should contain images that are all at the same ISO?
@MarkDumbletonАй бұрын
Hi Garnet, thanks for watching and for the comment. I haven’t tried any batch processing yet, because of the varying ISO in different images. It would be great to be able to batch process by applying a value per ISO’s as default and then run the batch. For now if I do batch a couple images, they need to have the same settings and for that reason the ISO would need to be the same.
@eldergeek9416Ай бұрын
As you know us Saffers pay dear for software, but this one was worth it, luckily I got the 20% discount on offer last month, your video is a good workflow, I don’t open from an editor, but drag files from Adobe Bridge directly, for quicker processing, I shut down every other Application, especially the memory hogs like Adobe, further adjustments are done in my editor depending on the photograph. It’s a definite tool to have in modern Auto iso cameras.

Thanks for sharing this, and I’m happy to hear you think the software is worth it.

You are not sponsored by DxO but you're a DxO affiliate who earns money on the software? Hmmm...

Anyone can become an affiliate. I have to make money somehow so I can feed myself and continue to make these free videos for everyone.

Your videos are my favorite and I follow a couple hundred YT’brs. I just bought DXO a few weeks ago and I’m trying to balance between Topaz. It is crazy you can’t op out of the collection it creates. We would love to have you as a guest speaker for our club (Spartanburg Photo Guild)!
@MarkDumbletonАй бұрын
That means a lot thank you! I’m hoping they release an update to rid the need for a collection. I don’t do guest speaking at the moment, but should that change I would love to!

Disappointed that you did not mention something I contacted you about recently, when using DXO Pure Raw from Lightroom at the moment there is an ongoing problem, when re-imported into Lightroom the image is being changed to a version 1 from the current version 6 in Lightroom this prevents any use of some Lightroom tools until you manually change the image back to version 6. If you go to the DXO forum site you will see that this problem is now 2 plus months old and nothing thus far has been done by DXO to fix it, so before you buy just now download the trial and test with Lightroom if you use it. Sorry if I am treading on your toes with this Mark but it is a problem.
@MarkDumbletonАй бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I haven’t had that problem, and I am not convinced it’s a DXO issue, it could also be part of the import process into Lightroom so it might be an Adobe issue.

Thanks for the video. I love DxO PureRAW 4. The big advantage is the GPU code in DeepPRIME XD2 and the perfect batch capability. For nighttime time-lapse shots with around 3600 RAW photos (Sony a6700, 26 MP), it took around 3 hours on an Intel 13900K + 3080TI. When loading 3600 files into PureRAW 4, the performance of a single core on the CPU is critical, while performing the batch operation requires maximum GPU performance.
@MarkDumbletonАй бұрын
Thanks for the info on batch processing, that is really good to know. I haven’t done any batch processing but I’ll keep this in mind when I do.
