Beautiful…your patients are very fortunate to have such a caring surgeon. You take the time to explain everything to your patient. I am 9 weeks out of surgery for a lower facelift including chin implant, lip lift (which I am not happy with), lipo injection in my cheeks and a bit of dermabrasion on my upper lip. I think one of the hardest parts of my surgery was my surgeon not listening to me when I had a concern. I tried to tell him right before my operation that I was worried about the lip lift because I have a bit of a gummy smile, but he absolutely blew me off about it….I didn’t even have time to finish what I wanted to say. If I lived closer to you, I would definetly have had you as my surgeon. You are such a nice doctor….love your videos!! Thanks for sharing them with us!

A face lift is actually a face and neck lift. Same operation and it is very effective in the neck. The laser was CO2.

Hi Dr niamtu, I had a neck lift to remove excess skin due to weight loss. My surgeon is having me wear the facial sling for 6-8 weeks. Do you feel this is a bit long? Nothing I read has any other doctor asking their patients to wear the sling that long. Thank you.

Well my first comment would be that you should always listen to your surgeon. Personally I have my patients wear a facial dressing as much as they can for the first week. After that I think tthe skin tightening itself serves as a suppler dressing but that’s my personal opinion

I don't, I do not think the science is there yet and there is a lot of false hype about it. The FDA is cracking down on all the false advertisement. Someday it will be a real thing, but in my opinion, not yet for what I do.

Hello Dr. Niamtu! What effect does internal scar tissue, that is caused by excessive facial plastic surgery (on the entire bone structure of the face with several ostheotomies and Medpor implants, several lifts of various parts of the facial soft tissue ans injection lipolysis on half of the face), have on future facial aging? Will the facial shape age less quickly because the inner scar tissue holds everything in place und because scar tissue tends to contract? As far as I know, scar tissue is much more rigid and compact than normal connective tissue. Is there any difference in aging between scar tissue and healthy tissue?

Question.. during a facelift, using a laser for deep wrinkles between the eyes. But it burned a hole a little larger than a jelly bean. How does that even happen? This happened to my friend and she has no clue how it could have even happened. Dr said equipment failure but we don't believe it. She has a huge hole between her eyes now

Thanks for viewing and commenting. I think these are her natural asymmetries that all patients have, some worse than others. Sometimes the facial bones are larger on one side and sometimes the soft tissue is thicker or thinner. In any event she and I are very happy. Dr. Joe :)

I want a facelift so bad, but it's one of the most gruesome operations you can get. They literally peel your skin off of your flesh and reshape the fatty tissue underneath, then they drape it back onto your face, pull it tight and close the incision. I don't imagine that feels super great afterwards, and while the results are amazing (most of the time), I can't imagine the recovery. I thought I was going to actually die after my rhinoplasty, I really might die if I were to get a facelift.

You are 100% correct, make up does make a difference and we truly try to do both pictures the same, but some times patients won't let you take a pic without make up or on their way to work and don't want to remove it. It is even more important when discussing things like laser skin resurfacing. However, all the makeup in the world won't show a tighter neck, loss of turkey gobbler skin or jowl improvement.
