@robedmund9948 agree 100%. First one I've ever bought was on my ram 2500 because I was worried about repair bill costs on an expensive diesel. Never used it. But was able to price that ram 4 grand higher that the similar ones when I sold it and sold it in 4 days because of that warranty. A second owner can not get a factory extended warranty if the vehicle has more thst 36k on it or 3 years. It is such a huge selling point and makes up for the cost everytime.

Not a fan either of extended warranties. Take that money you would put down on that warranty and open an account with a good interest rate and start saving for those repairs.

I purchased a 100k unlimited year extended warranty for 4500 on a 2018 F-150. I had the truck for 20k miles before it was totaled by a distracted driver. In that 20k miles I had about 5k worth of repairs covered by that warranty. AND when it was totaled out **I was able to get 4/5ths of MY MONEY BACK ** I got complete peace of mind for my time of ownership and $5k in repairs for a a little over $500. Do the math it just makes sense with these newer cars to get a warranty. They’re banking on the hope that you sell it before any major repairs and forget to refund or make a small amount of money on the prorated warranty. I would take advantage of these warranties while you can because to me, it just doesn’t sound like the best business model 😅

@tommyv.856 what is a good interest rate on 2k in a bank account really gonna do for you over 3 years. Today, it's not going to add up to even the average cost of repair on a new vehicle. I will buy an extended warranty every time
@tommyv.856
@tommyv.856 2 күн бұрын
@@Jason-Samko not much at 2k however, if you put a little back each month during the 36 months or during the 5 years for the power train warranty to expire. You could have a nice balance saved up. But yeah most banks have low interest rate when it comes to a personal savings account.

Great Video! Heres my ColoradoTrail Boss Update. They ended up just driving the truck to the dealorship and not asking for a deposit. Got there tonite to look at it before buying it and there was condensation in both of the headlights (bad) they said they could fix it if I dropped it back off. Then went to drive it and noticed it had 300 miles on it ! Not 150 at most like they said. So we go to the table and I ask them to take 500 off the doc fees coz of the high mileage, it's basically a demo at this point. They wouldn't take anything off of the price. So I walked. Had a bad feeling the whole time dealing with them . Looks like I will be flying to Ohio to buy the same truck with 7 miles and no condensation problems. Ugh.

I get my Extended Warranty through my insurance company Geico. It’s called the Mechanical Breakdown Warranty and it mirrors the manufacturer’s bumper to bumper. It is a 7 yrs or 100k miles, which ever occurs first with $250 deductible for anything no matter what and also covers your glass claims for only $75 deductible. For my 2023 full size crew cab 4X4 truck is $14 a month, so $1176 for 7 years. No dealership can beat that so don’t waste your money on what the F&I guy is trying to sell you. There is other ins. Warranties are a racket. At one time they were a nice thing but then fat cats noticed a pool of money and raised prices to account for that pool. Hence why the only way cars at dealers can be repaired at their shop rates. Concurrently most people will never need it. After 5 years the manufacturer monopoly on information begins to drop fast. My philosophy? If I need a warranty outside of the basic then perhaps I shouldn't be buying anything that creates that much anxiety. Again most are a racket at the stealerships. An unscrupulous majority base their livelihood off warranty sales only to disqualify you. Of course there are exceptions but they are selling you a warranty product because there's a net profit margin for them seldom for you.

My dealership tried selling me an aftermarket warranty. For $4500.00. I declined. 3 days later when I picked up my car, now said aftermarket warranty was $5400.00. Again, the answer was NO! At no point did my dealership ask or offer me a GM factory warranty. And quite frankly, after my dealership experience, I didn't go back there for a free oil change. Luckily I'm in a position for the latest diagnostic equipment. They can take their warranty and stick it.

I totally agree. Nothing but pure profit for the dealer. The F&I manager does a great job with mind games trying to push it on you. Him: You got seven years of protection if anything breaks. Me: Oh yippee, so this warranty starts at the end of the three year factory warranty? Him: I'm, not exactly!!! 😮. Most people will never use it. Just do your research on what you're buying and stay away from vehicles with known issues as mileage increases.

@@westcoastronnieOC714 Say you have Transmission problems. Goes to shuddering. The extended warranty does not cover about $500.00 in transmission fluid. You pay for it. They flush it and tell you to drive it a little over 500 miles & if you have anymore trouble to bring it back. They are hoping that the original warranty goes out so you have to pay for it all. And after tge warranty expires your warranty you pitched will only pay for certain things and some pro-rate it like a battery you would buy from a parts store.

Always call manufacturers directly for the warranty unless they make you buy thru a dealer. Toyota and now gm make you buy thru a dealer. Jeep ram will let you buy fsctory direct. The factory extended warranty for the most part covers everything the 3 year 36 does. It's an extention of that warranty unless you buy a lower plan. They cover more than any after market warranty ever would. However they never cover wearable items like tires, brakes etc from normal wear.

One thing not mentioned is those who finance and add the extended warranty to the contract, that warranty will most likely cost around $2,000 to $3,500 dollars and you have to add interest over the period of the loan to the cost of the extended warranty, so those boasting in this comment section how their extended warranty saved them a $4,000 dollar out of pocket repair, no it did not because they have to add in the cost of the extended warranty they paid for out of their pocket via their financing of the vehicle so in many cases that person only saved $500 to $1,000 or $1,500 dollars on that repair after adding in the cost of the warranty. They never include that.

Think of extended warranties as you going into a Casino to gamble and then think of who wins that bet the majority of the time, here is a clue it is the Casino. The same thing applies to extended warranties, the manufacture is betting you won't need to use the extended warranty for anything major before it expires and you are betting you will, guess who wins this bet the majority of the time? If you said the manufacture then winner winner chicken dinner. The only time an extended warranty makes sense is if you are buying a vehicle with known issues but than again why in the heck are you buying a vehicle with known issues that will require the use of said warranty. Extended warranties rarely ever pan out for the purchaser, yes someone is going to chime in and say how their extended warranty saved them a $4,000 dollar repair but they are the exception and not the rule. The manufacture made so much money on all the other people who bought those expensive extended warranties the $4,000 dollar pay out did not hurt them at all.

BINGO, I posted the same thing, rarely does an extended warranty pay off for the buyer but the manufacture makes a ton of profit off of extended warranties because the majority of vehicles will never need them, this video is doing a huge disservice to people. Oh and the Dealerships biggest sales pitch to scare you into buying this high profit extended warranty is the push oh but all the electronics and computers in the vehicle. Don't buy it people you will almost always be on the losing side and by that I mean you will be on the 99% losing side.

California will not let you buy an out of state factory warranty. One must get their extended warranty from an authorized dealer. Sucks, because the price is almost double.

Florida is like that, you can't buy out of state factory warranties, you can only buy them from a dealer in Florida and that drives the price up big time because it becomes a captive market.

If GM would not FORCE buyers to pay for OnStar (absolutely non-refundable) maybe an extended warranty would be in the deal

Oh it's doable ! The car makers could put the screws to the supplier's but won't. I'm not buying a warranty cause I refuse to but anything Made since what 21 or 22. Not going to happen ,and I'm not alone for sure. If the manufacturers Don't care if they sell junk ,we won't buy . You can get an older rig and body off restore it for way less than a new truck today.

The manufactures wouldn’t have to have that many hands touching each vehicle if they would give the public what they want ! A normal regular truck or SUV without all of the junk electronic crap on them. Scrap the electric transmission ,the stupid monitors and the computer systems that run everything !!!!!

Why would you buy a warranty from the same company that made the parts that they say are good. Seems like you are saying its ok for a car company to screw you over from the start. Paying on top of paying with a fake sense of safety. Your paying for a planned breakage before its broke. So they know its going to break at certin time and you are saying ok by buying more from them. Yup thats why it will not get better. So lets give them more money. Not a private mechanic from your neighborhood when it breaks. Cause machines break. Like concrete cracks.

Spot on Jason. I bought a 125,000 mile, 5 year extended warranty when I purchased my 2019 Tacoma. Last thing I wanted was to have to pay for a major repair while I was still making payments. The truck is now paid off and out of warranty. Fortunately I never had to use the warranty, but it gave me peace of mind. I have no regrets spending the money.

99% of the people that buy extended warranties will never use them or they will only use them for a minor repair that would have been cheaper for them to have paid out of pocket over the cost of the extended warranty.

Paid $1600 for an 8yr/125k Mopar MaxCare on my 21 Mojave Gladiator when I bought it. It's been in the shop twice. The second time, the warranty had already paid for itself. For 8 years or 125,000 miles basically all I have to worry about is putting fuel, oil, brakes, and tires on it. It's a no brainer in my opinion.
