Unpopular opinion: Sadly, the pattern we are seeing of people criticizing Maya is what happens with ALL KZbin channels, with Interracial couple. People DESTROY the Black woman with negative remarks. All. The. Time.! And Sadly, this is what is happening with Max and Maya. People are destroying Maya. (Don't come for me. The truth hurts). Keep up the good work Maya and Max! Be you. Do you. Be shameless!

I’m actually kinda annoyed with this new “stop exploiting the children” movement that’s starting to demonize EVERY family that showcases their child online. For some, this is a family business that has allowed them to live a type of life many only dream of and raise their kids in a happy, safe, and unique environment. Don’t feel bad for putting food on your table with a job as a content creator while also giving hope to people who have never seen a healthy family dynamic…flaws and all. ❤

I actually admire the way you guys share the transparency of a couple/parents by making separate videos and discussing them. I do not need to see the vulnerable/raw moments to know they exist. It baffles me that in the year of 2023 people still feel entitled to content creators. I do see you two as goals, creatively. Yes, Maya! I’m always shocked that people share so much information - then they wonder how they’re socials were hack*ed etc… like stop giving out all the security question answers 😂😂😂😂

I agree you shouldn't look at other people as your "goals". I admire the level of respect you have for each other. I've been watching your videos since I was 19. I'm now 26. I used to say I never saw myself getting married but I think I just didn't have examples of marriages with mutual respect and understanding.I know that no marriage is perfect, but your relationship is inspiring. Maya's journey with God is especially inspiring to me and I would like to say thank you for sharing. 💜✨

Maya, I've been watching you since you shaved your hair off and many of the things you were interested in, spoke about, evolved into, evolved out of and experienced were highly relatable because you are just a touch older than me. It wasn't so much that you were "goals" but I thought of you as someone I could understand because I knew so much of your journey. It's very easy to look on the outside at someone and nitpick them, but I have learned recently on my own journey that we often criticize things that we don't like about ourselves in others. People's criticism is just a reflection of where THEY are in their journey and when anyone falls short of the expectations they have for others they're quick to turn on you because deep down, if you cannot live up to this standard then it rips the possibility in their minds of them being able to do so too. The fear of that kind of criticism was so crippling for me personally. Videos like this remind me how moving imperfect authenticity can be. When you brought Max into our lives, I was relieved to see that you have found someone who loves you deeply and is committed to the challenge of loving you ENTIRELY to the best of his ability, even the Maya that LA was never able to have all of in real-time. I think people criticize you more because they feel they know you better than they do Max. A lot of your following her (I'm assuming) began following this account from your Shameless Maya page so they are more familiar with you. Watching you become a wife again and then a mother is so rewarding. Seeing you and Shan blossom into women with families is a long way from Slumber Party days, but man does it engage me just the same. Max, you jumped into Maya's life and into my heart at the same time. I never thought you'd even come from behind the camera when you first began so I am thrilled to see you inch your way towards comfortability. Thank you for being willing to give pieces of yourself and for growing into this space gradually and gracefully. Seeing the two of you navigate your differences and celebrate your wins is so incredible to watch, even if it's not the most comfortable thing all the time. You inspired Maya to love openly before the world again and change her own thinking about what love looks like to her. Simultaneously I am personally inspired by your pivot into this creative space and your dedication to giving Saga what she needs from you. Letting go of your former life for a new one is never as easy as you make it seem but I commend your courage. You are extraordinarily talented. Both of you. Love your work and your creative perspective. As a couple, my hope is that both of you continue to pursue your individuality, but also continue leaning on one another where your beautiful creativity intersections for as long as it serves you. Even if that means forever, I'll still be watching. xo

Thank you for discussing this topic and being transparent! Personally I don’t show my daughter. Sometimes I show my spouse. I think the individuals who show their child’s business or make money off of them are not sharing for the right reasons. I think you’re both doing a great job at keeping family first! Cause like you said, the internet people’s be cray!

I’d love to hear more about safety and posting. Also, importantly, how you both are vigilant about protecting your mental health, esp how you both handled MH when you first started posting. Maya, do you feel safer as an influencer who is married? What’re the boundaries you set with your audience online, in person at events, and in normal life when you’re just out running errands etc????

This was a great video. I can relate to Max on being insecure and self conscious in front of a camera. Especially when living in NYC, I wanted to be an actress in my early twenties. Low self esteem stopped me. I am slowly getting over not wanting attention because of social anxiety. This video was therapeutic.

For me, my Instagram and Facebook accounts are set to private, only for family members and select people I know, and my daughter is comfortable around. I do have clear boundaries in place. If I'm filming for KZbin or TikTok and my daughter enters the frame, I leave it in. I don't make it a habit of shoving a camera in her face unless she asks me to take a picture or film her for personal viewing. Even then, I only share some things online. I leave some things close until I'm ready to share.

Being in our 40s, and online for years, it's very important to have a strong foundation offline FIRST, because if you don't...these internets can pick apart, and put together (like you said) a narrative on their own. What I learned from this is, I had definitely put a lot of family vloggers on a pedestal, and when they got divorced I was hella disappointed. I understand that the mistake was me thinking that they "had it all together". So really, I disappointed myself: lesson learned.

Y’all keep it as real as you can. I am glad you share what you share and how you share it. I’m like 38 and I realized long ago that vloggers/influencers have lives off the camera. Our younger generation may or may not have that same viewpoint. But I appreciate y’all 😊❤

I think the way you talk to us about conflict rather than sharing arguments and disagreements is really well done. We are friends not another component of your marriage or family. In the same way that you might hold an argument till a friend leaves the room or goes home but you still may discuss certain topics of disagreements with a friend I feel this is what you are doing and it feels very natural. I don’t feel like I’m intruding in a way or being exposed to things that aren’t my business. I don’t feel those personal intimate things are entertainment they are jarring. Kudos to you all! Been here since you were in New York.

You two are doing great! I don’t like family channels, I used to watch it a lot when I was in middle & high school lol. I choose to only consume solo channels because it feels more authentic and less exploitative. I watch you guys because Maya has been on the internet forever and she has always been a nice person to watch, I relate to her on many levels, and enjoy supporting her. When I saw you two first together I was happy and wanted to again-watch and follow Maya’s journey. I hadn’t watch a couple channel in years before that. I pop in here and there to check up on you two, and I am never like “OH THEY SHOULDN’T HAVE DONE THAT! THIS FEEL WEIRD.” I’m like “Oh, this is refreshing to see. They show a little bit of everything and still have privacy. I see their daughter, but not too much of her. This feels right.” Idk if that makes sense, hopefully it does lol. Just keep doing you, so far-SO GOOD!🤍

I am divorcing (separated for 5.5 years first) and whilst it was incredibly toxic at the time and all of the reasons we had to part are still there, I actually find great comfort and happiness in the happy memories (especially with the kids) that we have captured on video and photo, and I wish there were more of it. It’s a part of our history and somehow the good bits haven’t lost value because we parted ways, if anything they are even more valuable. Does that make any sense?! I don’t think my ex feels the same, I think he finds it harder to look at, but I also know he’s happy the record exists. Hopefully you guys don’t need to be thinking about this! 🤪

I agree these KZbin vlogs are a form of entertainment. Most people put their best foot forward on these vlogs. I don't think anyone should be judging the life portrayed in these vlogs because they are edited. They only give us a glimpse of segments of your lives. People tend to think they "know" you all from the vlogs but that is an illusion. When and if I see a KZbin "celebrity" or any celebrity for that matter I don't approach them as if I know them. Because they don't know me. Our (KZbinr vs the KZbinr Viewers) perspectives are different.

respect for at least not making Saga the center of your content, however, she is still featured. how do you feel about all the comments coming in from strangers about her? even if they're seemingly sweet. we can all agree parasocial relationships are weird right, but its even weirder to form them with a child. Max you said what if she wouldve loved to be on social media, or sad there's no content w her in it. Well, you are free to make private family content (ie, home movies like the olden days lol) and saga will be able to use social media as she pleases when she can actually consent and have an idea of what it even means to be on the internet shares with millions of strangers.

This is ridiculous. She is a toddler. She won't understand for many years what it means to be on social media/the internet. So if she does at some point want it taken down it has already been up for years and seen by millions. Not to mention the internet is FOREVER. KZbinrs can remove content but that doesn't mean it wasnt screen grabbed or recorded elsewhere by a third party. This is being ignored to what the internet really is.

@gigivoicu9998 30 seconds ago We can see that your marriage is not just roses and toasts with champagne 🥂 and I believe what you do by sharing the gray parts with your subscribers is SHAMELESS - so, it's keeping up with the brand Maya invented. 😋 Don't think about divorce, dear. It's not easy to be a single mom. I know this is hypothetical but I think Max will be 100% destroyed by a divorce, because Maya looks a lot stronger. So, please work your problems out and don't make Saga choose between you too.
