@@applesaucdI think it’s because he comes off as insecure, which he totally shouldn’t be at this point. I think he’s a very sweet person, but it feels like he’s always trying extremely hard to fit in. I feel really bad for him because that’s something that I also struggle with, but I think that’s the root of the “off vibes” that people get form him sometimes. I really hope he can overcome his insecurities because he seems like such a wholesome person and he deserves to feel confident in his abilities.

something about shane reflecting on how old he is, and then yelling off screen "do you remember when the towers fell?!" at a young person who might have not even been alive at the time, was unexpectedly funny
@Nonameforyoudangit
@Nonameforyoudangit 5 ай бұрын
As someone who, at the time that the towers fell, was old enough to be working two blocks from the White House and who, for 48 hrs, did not know whether my best friend in NYC (who worked in one of the towers) was alive or dead, Shane's quip was not funny. Many of us living in DC and NYC could not use phone lines that day to connect with people. The system was overwhelmed. Imagine knowing that one of the worst things imaginable has happened, and not being able to check in with your friends and family. No jokes about 9/11 will ever be funny to me. Just sharing this with you as someone who was there.

@Marzi29 Am I, though, when the original commenter, as well as some of the Watcher crew, found the comment funny? I love Shane's mind and manner - this thing just did not work for me. In other news, to ANYONE reading this: if your doctor prescribes you with Paxlovid, ask them about interactions with other medications. Awww! Wow I didn’t realise just how much Steven does for Watcher! Definitely respect him more and appreciate all his hard work! I think it’s easy sometimes to only see the visible parts of something, and forget all the things that happen behind the scene. We love you Steven!

It would be super entertaining, during new ghost files episodes, to do a walkthrough before the investigation with a “psychic/medium” to really get Ryan freaked out 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I could see Shane now with alllllllllll the eye rolls. Lol

I'm very sorry that Ryan got COVID, it's a serious illness that can have serious consequences & I'm concerned about the lack of awarness that we're currently still in a pandemic (numbers are spiking again right now) if you don't take precautions like wearing a mask, air purification & doing things like testing after travel & big events, you will likely end up with COVID & get reinfected many times please protect yourselves & your loved ones & stay safe out there y'all 💖

Can we also say that traveling when you know you have COVID is idiotic and selfish?!

@@theRealSara I 100% agree ! I will say that I'm pretty sure Ryan didn't travel with them, on the podcast he talked about being stuck alone in that hotel during a winter storm, but that wasn't made super clear in this video (although, I think anyone who was in contact with him should have isolated many days & taken several tests before traveling too)

This is a fascinating glimpse behind the scenes. You see this struggle in a lot of youtube style prod. companies that thrived ten years ago. The landscape is different now. The world is different now. I love this kind of look behind the curtain because it humanizes everything. Good luck to Watcher. I'm excited to see you all grow and succeed.

When Shane was talking about how people connect with Watcher content for it's weirdness and coolness, I FELT that. Not only is the content hilarious and entertaining, but it also taps into very specific weird energy (in a good way) that I always felt I was too unconventional for liking if that makes sense. Not that I'm trying to be all "not like other girls", it's just a specific vibe of Watcher. Everything from their humour to teaching history through puppets to covering weird mysteries in a basement to going ghost hunting and actually taking it seriously yet not being overdramatic/phoning it in, is right up my alley. Like, put it this way: if I were to come up with my ideal internet content, it would be very close to what Watcher already is. So thank you Watcher team for all the amazing content, the hilarious editing, the high quality production, the thorough planning and all the other effort that goes into bringing these concepts alive, whether it be recording songs for Puppet History, doing research for Mystery Files, travelling all over the country even in harsh weather to film Ghost Files and even getting tanked for Too Many Spirits. Thank you for all the energy and time clearly put into this content, because it is truly some of my favourite on the entire internet. And I never thought about it too much before from a business perspective, but props to all of you for keeping the company alive - even through a pandemic - and continuing to release great content. And props to our boy Steven (who is always a RIOT every time he's on camera, especially in TMS) for taking on a management(?) role, I think he has done such a great job.

I got into Ryan and Shane with Buzzfeed Unsolved and really enjoy their dynamic, but got to know Steven better through Watcher. I love his cooking show and weirdly enough, my cat does too. He (my cat) is a complete menace and too smart for his own good. However, he will often sit down and watch Dish Granted for several minutes at a time. He doesn't do this with any other show. Thanks for all that you do, Steven!

This is fantastic to see. I had no idea it was such a big operation and seeing how amazingly it functions is super cool to me. I had no idea there were so many ups and downs, too. When companies say "we're a family" it always feels fake and disingenuous - But this is such a breath of fresh air and it feels so completely different. Fro this video alone I can tell everyone at Watcher loves each other so much and functions so well.

Let’s be absolutely clear that Shane and Ryan can do what they do - what we like to watch - because Steven does what he does behind the scenes. Before this I never really thought about Steven’s role in their company or his appearances in the shows I watch, but I have such a great appreciation for how this video has given us insight into how their company has grown and how each of them has contributed to its flourishing.

I think the hallmark of Watcher is just the absolute and genuine quality of everything put together, from start to finish, and that must be absolutely hard work with a lot of very talented people envolved. I don’t even remember what the podcast was called but I listened to a podcast episode about creative businesses or something (and I only listened to it because Steven was the guest lol) and Steven said “I want Watcher to serve the people who work here more than the people who work here serve Watcher” and I’ve thought about that a LOT since then. Not to be all “wE lIvE iN a SoCiEtY” but, like, we DO, and the structures we have in this society SUCK, by and large. So to see a company that is so, so incredibly people-focused is refreshing and encouraging in ways that I can’t even express. Thank you Steven.
