The TRUTH about Gandhi - Christories | History Lessons with Chris Distefano ep 12

THIS WEEK ON CHRISTORIES we're uncovering the TRUTH about your favorite Indian Rights Activist👉 Gandhi 🙌 Gandhi was born in Porbandar, India in 1869 and was raised being a devoted practitioner of Vaishnavism which promotes self discipline and non violence. Gandhi grew to be a lawyer and moved from India to South Africa to practice law. There he started stand up for Indian people's rights as there was a lot of discrimination. When he returned to India, he fought for India's independence from Britain. British rule in India was strong and unfair -- to the point they had a huge taxes on salt. SALT!? Gandhi protested this one ridiculous law with a non violent tactic -- marching to the sea to make his own salt, which we know as his famous Salt March.
Gandhi promoted a lot of peaceful protest and even though he wasn't violent, he did get arrested for rallying so many people together!! He was a good person who inspired a lot of good, but also was known to do a few border line bad things with his nieces. Listen to the TRUTH today!

@Good Day adhd is described as first cousins with autism but it gets undiagnosed in a lot of people and it also gets misdiagnosed for other things as well. I got diagnosed when I was 5. If you want to see a great podcast with 2 comics with severe adhd, check out being ian with Jordan. It's complete chaos and pleases my batshit crazy adhd mind. A lot of comics have adhd too. H Foley has it, annie lederman, Bobby lee, Emma Willman, Jessiemae Peluso and Sarah Hyland just to name a few.

LOVE these history episodes. Though Calcutta massacre was before the partition, and one of the HUGE problems about the splitting op of land (done by the british, of course), was that it was done by a man who had never even been to India before. He had no reference for the religious, cultural, ect., of the people there. He also gave a huge chunk of Muslim land to Hindus because of a military base. And those weren't the only two religions there either. And the mass exodus between the two sides to be on the right side of the line caused huge problems, and lead to a lot of violence.
