Seriously it's like you read my mind. The fantasies and being too focused on the end goal has really held me back from just keeping my head down and putting the work in. That, and feeling incompetent in the field as I go through a career change at 30. Thanks for making this video!

One of the biggest issues I see with most looking to break into Cyber Sec is their approach. Yes making money is amazing don't get me wrong but most people step into this expecting to make close to six figures for entry level then wonder why they can't find a job. On top of that is I think some have to absolutely do a Cyber Sec specific job to break in when I know that is not true. If some have some type of IT department, that would be the quickest route to break in with some form of proof that one wants to get into IT and that is exactly what has happened at my current job. They know I am in school for Cyber Sec and I am getting certs and passing classes as proof and a few months ago after I passed Net+ I have been switching over doing more IT based roles instead of what I was originally hired for on top of asking for a raise. My take on anyone getting into Cyber Sec is to pace it, try not to get caught up in everyone online in how they achieved whatever milestone, there's too many variables to know how long that person has been at it. So just pace it, enjoy it, and soak up the fundamentals and keep going back for refreshments of the information

This is the motivation I needed, I watch you and TechTual Chatter and you guys helped me land my internship. The work has been slow and now I feel that in the meantime I should be working on certifications or learning new skills. I appreciate y’all.

Good video, I always talk about idea doing IT or getting into security but I feel like I fall for the fantasy rather than actually put in the work, doing IT apprentiship at the moment I have decided to book AWS practitioner exam so have something to study for just to get the ball rolling to get into habit of trying to learn and grow

Hi Bro, my take away is this - The pleasure/happiness/fulfillment is/coming from - actually achieving the goal, but not in the goal itself Don't - Desiring the goal over, but working to achieve the goal. You are bold enough to speak the truth/reality. It helped me.

The tortoise and the hare! Value the process of getting to the finish line instead of racing to win, you are able to reap the benefits a lot more when you take the time to under "why." Remember to keep faith and don't give up! 🌠🌟

I do agree, but college doesn’t exactly prep you for the certifications, they stretch the classes 3-4 years for you to get the necessary knowledge to take one vs a udemy/Coursera course that takes 3-6 months

Friend, in your monologue and in the numerous comments that I have read, there is a substitution of concepts. If a person has received an education and passed the exam. This means that he ALREADY has the right to the entry position. WITHOUT ANY paid certificates or experience. It’s nonsense when you question your own education with some ridiculous certificates. And if the company already wants an employee. had an additional certificate, but she had to pay for it after she hired him. But people's indignation is understandable. You're going to study. They tell you there are a huge number of jobs for this specialty. You are finishing your studies. And what do you see. Is all this a lie? And you need to look for at least some kind of clerk job for another year? Guys, you will get to the point where people will stop going to this area due to difficult employment. And then you will hire really different clerks and train them yourself. You have to somehow respect the time and money of the people who spent it in order to at least get an invitation to an intern. And for experienced specialists with 6 figures, as you say, of course there should already be requirements. And that's exactly right.
