There are many other interesting stocks in many industries that you might follow. You don't have to act on every forecast, so I'll suggest that you work with a financial advisor who can help you choose the best times to purchase and sell the shares or ETFs you want to acquire.

I agree, that's the more reason I prefer my day to day investment decisions being guided by an advisor seeing that their entire skillset is built around going long and short at the same time both employing risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying off risk as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, coupled with the exclusive information/analysis they have, it's near impossible to not out-perform, been using my advisor for over 2years+ and I've netted over 67% profit in 18 months

I did it by transitioning from employee only to employee + investor. I was fortunate enough to have low outgoings as an employee as I worked form home in tech sector. All the money that I would have spent on commute costs went into buying value stocks (oil and gas, telecoms, tech). Collected and reinvested all dividends. Now my little fund generates enough to live on comfortably. I still am an employee, but no longer have to put in extra hours or go the extra mile at work, and no longer need to impress the boss. I can switch off from work at 5pm. Next step is to go part time, or reduce to 4 day week. If I was made redundant now, I wouldn't go back to being another full time employee.

While you may not ever get rich, if you want to live and retire comfortably the best thing you can do is live within or below your means. Buy a Honda instead of an Acura or be happy with your 4 year old iPhone 6 instead of trading up every year to the latest and greatest model for example. Too many people feel they have to fake it before they make it or keep up with the Jonses...

Investors and big business owners usually works just as much, if not more, than regular employees. And it is work, not luxury time, and sometimes repetative and boring. The question you have to ask yourself is about what you like doing and what you find meaningful, something you can find in all four quadrants of this very simplified view of worklife. And it´s not that clear cut between the quadrants. Sometimes you can be a bit of everything, many jobs have a lot of freedom and many investors are slaves to their investments.

Quick comment on business Tax “write offs”: I’m not a CPA either, but I’m pretty sure the examples(camera, markers, car payments, etc.) you used for expenses that can lower your tax burden are not eligible expenses. Markers, cameras, and cars are all examples of capital expenditures, assuming you purchase these assets, not lease them. You CAN however “write off” the depreciation of the assets. If you leased the car, you can expense the lease payments, which is why leasing is preferred for some companies.

Since I retired I rolled over my 401k into an IRA and tripled my money by investing on my own in this bull market. I actually took social security early because they pay dependent benefits and I have a young son, plus they paid for my wife as a caretaker until my son was 16 (also son's benefit which is approx 1k a month is essentially tax free). Nothing compares working for a good company that treats its employees well, and has good benefits. My company hadn't laid off an employee for the first 130 years of existence. Regarding the multiple taxes for the self-employed, do they get more deductions as well?
@studentsofmoney26535 жыл бұрын

I agree that making your way from top left - bottom left - top right - bottom right through these quadrants is a reliable path to "getting rich", and the upside is the greatest, but the success rate for start ups is abysmal. If you're an employee within an in-demand industry (ie healthcare) and you consistently invest and diversify I think the % of people reaching their more modest goals with less risk is worth skipping the deminished quality of life that comes with running a business.

Self employed in the highest tax bracket in my country. It's terrible. Even capital gains are taxed at the same rate for me I.e. 30%. Always wondered why it's taking me so long to have a comfortable life financially. I'd love to start investing but I just keep thinking how!?

I'm self employed and making a decent amount to where I have a large savings and interested in investing. For someone not too savvy on finance and not really able to invest in real estate, its a little bit confusing where to begin.

yeah the only thing i would respectively disagree on is the negative connotation of 'working hard/harder' if youre self employed. Working is great. some people love it! i had 2 months of voluntary unemployment (with PLENTY of cash saved up) and i was ready to keel over with boredom. Work is great if you find something cool to do. it gives you life! i would love to take full responsibility and work for myself with pride, therefore not having to answer to "the man" and worry about get fired at any point, not getting any days off, etcetera ...

HAHAHA. This video is awesome!!! My name isn't Sam... but I litetally have my own landscaping company... but I'm stl grinding away working in the business. Sales, marketing and litetally physically on site working. However... i WAS working on a factory making a great wage and bennifits working 40hrs a week and was miserable... started my company while stl working in the factory. 1st year my company only made $2,500 CDN. Few years later i left my 65k year job with bennifits... to run my company full time that was only making 25k cdn at the time. I also already had a mortgage... let me just day... there were a free winters i litetally survived on only rice and pasta... even some months with no hydro. Haha Now my company is making over 200k per year... (gross)...but I'm definitly working 60hr weeks... more stressed than ever... but I do love what I do. Hoping to be able to start investing on some things and buying some income properties soon. So this video makes me happy to see I'm grinding my way through the quadrants... but would love to figure out away to move quicker and get to the invester box quicker. I just discovered your videos and been binge watching you for 2 hrs now. Haha. I'll keep watching and hopefully I will. So keep'een coming!!👍😉👌
