In some parishes in Colorado the priests want to drive around in the latest vehicles you know the 2024 models where I am a parishioner and I'm driving around in a modest car so I think we should live within means
@CultgentlemanJack9 ай бұрын
Hi a new car for a priest is essential necessity for them to be able to carry out there duties. In prospective a priest can not drive a bum car that breaks down on the side of the road on his way to a dying person who needs there last rights. Can you imagine a priest having to ride a bicycle across town a million miles on hour to try and reach a dying person to give them there last rights. The person would have died long before the priest arrives. Also most priest are very old and would not even be able to ride a bike in that scenario. The amount of money a local diocese would have to pay out for mechanics on a bum car that constantly brakes down or on cab fairs here there and everywhere would be astronomical and totally insane and a grate waste of money. Priest also everyday travle to anoint the sick and travel between towns and city’s to say mass because of the massive loss in people joining the priest hood. These are just some examples of why it is crucially important for a priest to drive a brand new car and they do not personally own that car in most circumstances it’s owned by the parish. You should be more outraged buy the wealth of the mormon church, Kenneth Copeland‘s ministries Joyce Myers or Joel Austine.. they have personal wealth in the millions yet every one attacks the lowly catholic priest for having a new car or the Catholic Church being some sort of bank..it’s so stupefying and infuriating to me that all these other religions and evangelical TV evangelist are literally racking in millions of personal wealth every year and getting away with it Scott free..Go educate yourself and open your eyes you will be quite surprised at the hypocrisy that’s amid at the catholic hit hutch and its clergy.

Thank you for talking about this tough subject. After I was baptized in 2012 the Holy Spirit showed me all of the tithing scriptures and I’ve tithed for 14 years now. God blessed me with a husband in 2021 and we are together entering the Catholic Church on Pentecost. I had been Protestant for 10 years and felt a lot of pressure to tithe “or else” like the church would be in danger of closing so I wasn’t too comfortable with that pressure. The Catholic Church recommends giving 5 percent to the Church and 5 percent to other ministries. We give to the homeless we meet on the street and to an agency that offers housing to men in need of sober living. We also give the 5 percent to our Parush we are very grateful for our Priests but mainly I tithe because God asks for our first fruits and we never go without. God bless you men thank you again 🙏🙏🙏

I have a pickup truck. It has a bed topper. Inside I have a mattress and blankets and a very few belongings. This is my home. But I feel rich because I'm free of the worry of material things. I have shelter for my body, and a few extra things besides. And I tithe 10% of what's left after paying for that because there are those that have even less.

7:00 Oh my gosh, this is so true. It doesn't matter how many rich people you have at church. When I was lukewarm or went to a generic novus ordo I just went out of obligation and didn't tithe. But when God and the Rosary helped me convert and I went to a FSSP TLM, I was so on fire and saw how beautiful the church was that I wanted to give to support it, I also feel like this for good novus ordo churches...

Something I've observed around here, the churches don't do basic upkeep. Then when it's at it's worst they start a fix it fund. And since it's so bad, we see these goals of $500k-$4m. Why don't the churches have proper maintenance plans to keep these repairs from ballooning?

Peace be with you There was no mention of offering time and talents as a way of giving in place of money . You mentioned Mary and everyone sharing in the community . Now I would believe that would include their time and talents to make it work. One body many parts . Can we do one or the other and each bye an acceptable offering ? Offering are to come from the heart not just the pocket correct ? I believe in being a good Steward with all that God gives me . With that same attitude in mind if I can buy something at 90 percent off as apposed to giving to the church the money directly who will pay full price for the same items , and I make this my offering, that this would show good stewardship . What about an owner of a business offering to repair or build for a reduced cost or for free as that being their offering ? Can you do a continued show with this ?

Mt 17:24, 27 “After Jesus and his disciples arrived in Capernaum, the collectors of the two-drachma temple tax came to Peter and asked, “Doesn’t your teacher pay the temple tax? ... But so that we may not cause offense, go to the lake and throw out your line. Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find a 4-drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for my tax and yours.” IF you combine this + Exodus 30:11-16 which states, "The the LORD said to Moses.... 'All who cross over, those 20 years old or more, are to give an offering to the Lord. The rich are not to give more than a half shekel and the poor are not to give less when you make the offering to the Lord to atone for your lives. Receive the atonement money from the Israelites and use it for the service of the tent of meeting. It will be a memorial for the Israelites before the Lord, making atonement for your lives.'” So now.... Does the Temple Tax disproves the elderly widower Joseph theory?!? Because, his alleged 73-year-old son James (if you do the math of Joseph allegedly being 80 and James being 40 when Christ was born) would have been well above 20 years of age and since only men 20 and older were to pay the Temple Tax (Exodus 30:14-15), YET Jesus instructed Peter to pay this tax ONLY for the 2 of them (cf. Matthew 17:24-27) even though ALL the apostles are present, including James. Thus, only Jesus and Peter were older than 20! As Dr. Deacon Mark Miravalle explains, one need not sacrifice the virginity of Joseph on the altar of apologetics in attempting to defend the virginity of Mary with these apocryphal stories of a widower Joseph. In fact, it backfires. Better to just stick with the simple Biblical truth that Joseph was a chaste virgin in the prime of his life when he married Mary. Btw, #Josephology

My husband and I live in a modest apartment costing $1400 a month in Denver. It would be nice for Priests to be able to live like this. 4 million dollars for a rectory seems a bit much. Seems like a home for Priests could be built for a few hundred thousand. This is the greed that is in the Catholic Church. 🙏🙏🙏

I saw a church was selling donated items like a thrift store.... I think churches should do that. Instead of parishioners donating to goodwill and stuff, people could donate to Catholic churches and Catholic churches can then sell things. But that's just my thoughts. I have so much stuff I want to donate to my church, but I don't think they would be interested in stuff like that.

Did the Bible say anything about priests not being able to work?
@ertrobjohnfortich78919 ай бұрын
I've recently realized that a big part of the Church is in dire need of money. I've heard that in Japan, the priests are asked to look for secular jobs to support their cost of living. Growing up in the Philippines, I'm used to seeing priests in the parishes living a fairly comfortable life since majority of the population is catholic. I once came across a priest who went back to the country for a vacation. He's a missionary abroad. He said something along the lines of "life as a priest here is way different from being a priest in another country. Here I walk around the parish parking lot and I come across someone who wants to have their vehicle blessed and I get a monetary gift that would feed me for 3 days!"

I think the main issue with Ananias and his wife Sapphira is that he stole from God - or withheld from his VOLUNTARY pledge. This is relevant to any vow we make to God - not just the giving of future money. I like this passage also because it equates the Holy Spirit to God. Finally, St John Chrysostom says that Peter did not “call down death” on the couple. He only “announces” the judgment of the Spirit of which he is aware...so Peter is not as badass as it may seem..😎

Dear folks, I think a lot of people are sick and tired of all the financial abuse going on. Personally I will not give anything to the Bishop, most bishops don’t support the people or stand up for the critical issues in society. I try to support the parish anyway I can but I’m a widow on social security and I live in a hundred year old house. and it makes me sick for these bishops wasting so much money and destroying our church’s , our reputation and our unity. God bless you I stand with bishop Strickland.
