The majority of Malawians don't eat Caterpillars and no one eat ants, they only eat flying termites. I wonder where you visited.

Pretty accurate. Just to clarify something on the lobola thing. Its not necessarily buying the girl, its more like an appreciation thing. And its pretty common in the northern part of the country and not practiced in the other regions.

Lobola (dowry) is only practised in the north and among the Sena people in the south. The majority of the country doesn't practice it. The "chickens" exchange takes place in a different custom known as chinkhoswe, where the groom becomes part of the bride's "village".

Lobola is NOT buying a woman. In its purest form it is a way of bringing families together. Also in the old patriarchal society a man was meant to to show his commitment because the process does not end with lobola and the who Lobola is not paid, but a debt is owes which allows the man's in-laws to push him around in a nice way...at the end of it all and years later, he earns the right not to be a son in law, but a son.
@queenmaahes3 жыл бұрын
Very beautiful way of putting this. Basically had to earn the right more than just being in love etc
@shumbamutasa3 жыл бұрын
@@queenmaahes Yes. One had to earn the right to become a son not a son-in-law. There were checks and balances and even if you couldn't "afford" it there were other means to prove yourself.

Oh lord have mercy. 🙄 what a bland unseasoned, vague and off color description of Malawi. A woman who was there and experienced on the surface but didn't have a spiritual connection. She was there, achemwene, but she's saying what she thinks people want to hear but I promise... she didn't feel it. Azungu probably wrapped a chitnje as soon as her flight landed and then proceeded to walk aimlessly to absorb only clichés of Malawi. Carry on Mzungu...teach us more of Malawi. We are all ears...😒 she is embarrassing to the country.
