A deal breaker for me would be if you start placing your rainbow flags and other flags all over your property. We, here in Mérida, don't care whom you are with, just be mindful of others. We don't need to know, nor care what your preferences or anyone's preferences are. Just saying...

Our place borders Centro in San Sebastien and my con would definitely be sidewalks! You have to really watch where you are walking in older parts of Centro and neighborhoods as sidewalks may be falling apart or people have built up to stop flooding or cut out for a driveway or just gone lol. Definitely need to pay attention when on a walk about.

I love your blogs info about living in Merida, but I prefer La Playa, I’m a beach person so PV would be my choice, because I can spend 3 months there and return to San Diego for the balance of the year. Merida sounds like it would be a great place to live from the information that you're giving it's like sparking a lot of curiosity within me. I live by myself now here in Connecticut and I am in my sixties currently on a fixed income but Merida sounds like the type of place I would like to be able to get away to and it seems as though I could afford it. It seems to be more of a relaxing place other than the US I personally have grown tired of the US. Thank you for the information that you have shared it is greatly appreciated

I've been in Merida for 4 months and I was in Guadalajara and Mexico city for a week and within a day or two I made up my mind about relocating to Guadalajara. It has an energy that Merida doesn't have. There is more to do and the Colonia I was staying in had parks everywhere. I find the expat community in Merida to be very guarded and unfriendly meanwhile in Guadalajara I feel like I would have more of a social/dating life. The food in Merida is hit or miss... usually a miss. The food in Guadalajara and Mexico city is like a flavor explosion 💥. I agree the locals in Merida are super friendly but I'll pass on the expat community

That was great...and spot on! I am the polar opposite of a city dweller, but if the stars somehow misaligned and I had to be, Merida would be a great option. It feels small, it's clean, it's beautiful and it's most definitely comfortable. I live out in the boonies somewhat near Merida, which gives me about 4 or 5 degrees C relief during the hot months. So what's a Con on your list, is kinda neutral for me 😊

Good to know. We were just there, and 92F with a facemask on in February was a challenge. I can't imagine hotter and more humid. It definitely showed us how we might need to modify the times and durations of our visits. I am a mountain person, so heading up to Queretaro, Guanajuato and Tequisquipan was my kind of weather. We brought all sorts of Yucatan spices home to make our own pibils!

LOL...I lived in Los Angeles for many years, without a car, so I am sure one does not "have to" have a car in Merida...and David and Travis are proof of that. Although I doubt they would be car-less in L.A.

@@rebeccar4312 that’s great! Really, and you def CAN especially if it’s just you, but I can tell you for a fact (because I’ve lived here for a year) that the Ubers here are not always reliable. They cancel on you when it rains, and it sucks waiting in the boiling heat. I’m also their neighbor and live right next door. So, we experience alot of the same situations in regards to travel here in and around Merida. L.A. isn’t Merida. VERY different. Very. Even with travel. I also speak fluent Spanish, and it was explained to me, that most Ubers won’t come when it rains. Delivery’s for food stop as well. Very, very much, not like L.A. you “need to” have a car here in order to really enjoy life here to the fullest. Thanks for responding Rebecca.

I found the buses to be a very affordable way to get around Merida. I lived south of Centro and took the bus out to Costco in the north, then would catch a cab or Uber home. Easy peezy, and a real delight to experience some street performers who would catch a ride on the bus to make a few pesos. Many are actually quite good. 👏👏👏

Thanks for such a detailed vid. Really helps when weighing the pros and cons of moving. I am currently in Mexico City and looking for a small city vibe. Quick question... how easy would it be to get an Uber from the North, even from places like Altozano, La Ceiba and those surrounds? I would imagine getting an Uber from town back, would not be an issue, but an Uber into town? In your experience, what do you think? Thanks again for the vids.

In your opinion could a stand up electric scooter or an electric bike be a transportation option in Merida? If so are they available to be purchased in MX or one could import them yes?

Not sure on that one! Check Amazon.com.mx or MercadoLibre to see if they're sold here - we haven't seen any on the streets (buuut we also haven't been looking so 🤷‍♂️)

Just subscribed, love you guys. Can you tell me about the medical insurance? Would love to move to Mexico, but we are apprehensive about medical care and insurance.

Thanks Lilly! We have a couple videos about our experience with health care in Merida (muuuuch better than what we had in the States), but as it's a pretty big and personal decision, we highly recommend researching on your own to determine what's best for your situation!

I just found your videos! I was in Merida this month, I love it! I M thinking seriously to love there in a couple of years, do you guys think living close to the Centro is a good idea? Or is there an area you recommend better? Thanks!

Centro's a great idea - just depends what you're looking for. Our video this week is a tour of some of the northern neighborhoods - hopefully you'll find that helpful!

@@TravelWTravis i saw your video and you some nice places, but I would really like to live in a colonial house. I fell in love with them. Your content has given me a great idea of what it would be like, so really appreciate your information, thank you guys 🥰

Do you have a/c in your place, and do you use it a lot? And how much does it cost?

We and and we do! Ours isn't as expensive as other's, but electricity can be very expensive here!
