One of the first things I noticed cutting carbs of all kinds including added sugars, my teeth looked amazing! Tarter gone, and my gums weren't inflamed. Second thing I noticed was my joint pains went away! Oh yeah, and I lost 30 pounds in that first year. I'm now full carnivore and I feel pretty darn good.

Speaking as someone with ME - going low carb 5/6 years ago radically transformed my symptoms (not a cure though). I used to crash every afternoon was horrendous - felt sooo awful. The moment I went low carb the regular crashes stopped. My baseline stabilised as my blood sugars did. Though I still had low energy - i had much less malaise (and nothing is less energy than those crashes). Then February this year I managed to go keto. My energy improved a little, and my mental clarity and brain fog also improved (which at that point was at a level enough to scare me and to cause a doctor to suggest I had early onset dementia). Fat burning is amazing for my energy levels in that it keeps my baseline even steadier than before and no more ‘hangry’ episodes.

@Nero Machiavelli No. I eat when I'm hungry and I eat until I'm full. That equates to one to two meals a day (most of the time it's two). Eating an all animal based diet has destroyed the "hunger cravings" I used to get. As far as energy or feeling tired, not like I did 5 years ago. Way more energy on this diet than previous to this diet. As for my weight, after my initial weight loss, my weight has been maintained without trying for years. In fact, I've since gained a few pounds but look as lean as I did in my 20's (i.e. I've gained muscle, not fat).

We have 2 metabolisms for a reason. We’ve evolved on both. During the summer and fall months, fruits growing on trees was an easy source of energy for us, and it was higher carb, less fat during these months. During fall and winter, when there was no fruit growing, we relied on eating animals, which is more fat and practically zero carbs. Both eating styles work well. Do them both.

@@blacksmithie It's weird. I've had it drilled into my head that carbs are bad, but I've got all the signs of a slow COMT gene, which would make a high protein diet about the worst thing I could do. I've added fruits, veggies and really high quality sourdough bread (no seed oils) back into my routine, and the dopamine spikes are going away. I didn't know that's what they were, but after a yummy plate of bacon and eggs? I would get super hyper and then tank. For a while, I thought it was blood sugar, but now I know it was dopamine and adrenaline. Crazy how genetics and epigenetics can play a role as well. :) I do miss bacon and eggs, though. Carnivore includes fat. More fat than you think and ate. A good starting ratio is 20% of your calories to be protein and 75%-80% fat derived. If your body doesn't need it it will pass through. This is the biggest mistake people make when attempting carnivore. Protein is for repairing and building cells, fat is for energy. Eating carbs is providing a source of fat with an extra step between you and the fat your body wants. ( Carbs are packaged as lipids [fat] and stored or used and if your body wants glycogen (sugar) it can convert it from the fat) It would still be carnivore and give the same results if you ate more fat but your filling that role with carbs. This is an explanation of why carnivore didn't work as you expected not a demand on how anyone should eat.
@carascottvo
@carascottvo 9 ай бұрын
@@btwbrand No, I met with Stephanie Person, and we talked about that and I upped my fat for a couple of months, thinking that was key. When I got my gene DNA test back, I realized that I can’t have mass quantities of protein or fat at one time. I’m a slow methylator, so I can’t take all that fat. Like I said, to each his own. I wasn’t demanding that anybody do the things that I do. I just found what worked for me.

For the record, when keto dieters talk about low carbs, they're talking about low NET carbs, fiber carbs or "slow carbs" as you put them, are essential to the ketogenic diet. They are not counted towards your total carbohydrate count when determining your "low carb" status. So if to be in keto you needed under 30g net carbs, you could still eat 30g of fiber a day, and still have enough room to have another 29g of "fast carbs" and still be in ketosis, even though your "total carbs" are at 59g. Your net carbs are still only 29g.

@svenmorgenstern9506 2 жыл бұрын
You're a type II diabetic with moderate to severe insulin resistance, but your pancreas is still making enough insulin for typical body processes. By switching to a low carb diet, your body doesn't need as much insulin, only enough to facilitate amino acid uptake (fatty acids don't require insulin to facilitate uptake) and a small amount for dietary sugars. Hence, your need for exogenous insulin (e.g. insulin shots) is reduced to zero.

@@matthill2957 I'm on a keto low carb diet. Wanna know what I eat? Pizza. Spaghetti. Fried rice. Spanish rice. Doughnuts. Cake. Chocolate mousse. Fried chicken. BBQ chicken. Chicken nuggets. Fried fish. Hamburgers. French fries. Tacos. Enchiladas. Cheddar bay biscuits. Shrimp. Lobster. Mac and cheese. Stir fry. Stuffed cheesy bread. The list goes on. And yes, of course steak, eggs, bacon, sausages, and cheese. Also broccoli, spinach, zucchini, and cauliflower. 1. Does this look like a lack of a variety to you? 2. You do realize that a lot of high carb foods can be made low carb just by switching out a couple of the ingredients, right? Why give up spaghetti when all you really have to do is get rid of traditional noodles and use shirataki noodles instead? Why give up pizza when you can either make a cauliflower crust or shredded chicken crust instead? Why give up sandwiches when all you have to do is get rid of the bread and use an egg white wrap instead? It's a big misconception that low carb diets have no variety. And I guarantee you some of the food that I make you wouldn't even be able to tell it's low carb.

@@WoahhTeamJacob Carbs shouldn´t be taken in low amounts. Carbs means energy, and without energy your body can´t create enough tyroid and other hormones. My intake of carbs is around 400g a day. I have at least a year on it and since I started to sleep very well. But if I mix it with too much fat, around 90 g, glucose oxidation will not be as efficient. To increase glucose oxidation you must take a big supplimentation of vitamin B3 and B1, especially if you are coming from keto. People who get diabetes are not because they eat too much carbs or sugar, they just don´t have the ability to oxidize glucose efficiently, most probably because they have hypotyroidism and tyroid is responsible to use glucose and transform it to ATP, energy. I eat lots of jam, honey, masa harina. Even if I get around 3200 calories minimum, my belly fat only decreased because I don´t eat starches and starches are known to be highly insulogenic.

@@gabrielacsinte9849 Carbs do not equal energy. Carbs equal higher insulin. Higher insulin means your body is storing all that energy away as fat to use later. Many people don't seem to realize this but it's been shown through trials again and again, the carbs you are eating, are quickly transferred to fat stores because of insulin. Very little of it is actually used as energy. But do agree a little with what you said about insulin, some people can handle carbs better and it won't store as much, but 80% of America is insulin resistant, meaning for MOST people, carbs just become stored fat.

Calorie restriction is not the best way to lose weight and be healthy at the same time. I'm so tired of hearing "restrict calories" "calories in, calories out". Scientifically, it all comes down to hormonal response, not on calories. And because the word "calorie" is so annoying and overused I'm gonna say energy used. The reason so many people (including our ancestors) thrive on low carb or no carb diets or woe is because of the hormonal responses our bodies have when adapted to those ways of eating. We might be carnivore or omnivore, idk. But we are definitely obligate carnivores. Either way, calories don't matter, but the way you use your energy does. Even so, some carnivores don't use much energy and are still thriving. Plants=survive Meat=thrive. And like you said, not everything works for everyone so don't tell people to restrict calories just because it worked for you. You kind of hypocrited yourself into that one
