I'm a licensed esthetician also and I've used microdermabrasion on clients for years with excellent results. I recommend micro derming first and then a peel depending on the client's skin type and condition followed by a moisturizing mask. I do not charge a lot because I want my clients to be able to afford this effective treatment and it costs me very little to do.

Another thing is, before I got HydraFacial (don't know if that's the same) and my esthetician used many different products before and after. Are they not necessary ? Thanks if you can answer. And if not, it's fine, I understand :) Thanks

I just had my first Microdermabrasion yesterday. My skin is absolutely glowing today and the dark brown spot on my forehead is barely noticeable now. My crows feet are much better too. To compare Microdermabrasion to a sponge is wrong on so many levels. Why the heck would you tell people to scrape their face with a sponge?

Um, you look exactly the same after a facial and mild peel also, but that doesn't mean you're not getting the benefits of the treatment. As an esthetician I can tell you that a microdermabrasion is not just like raking a 49 cent kitchen sponge over your face, and as as a professional it's irresponsible for you to make that claim. As your video is misleading, deceptive, and outright incorrect, I would like to make the viewers aware of the inconsistencies of your claims. I perform microderm infusion treatments and show my clients the debris that was lifted from their skin in the output container. Their skin glows from the exfoliation of old dead skin cells and in the case of the infusion method, the serum chosen for their skin type/concerns during the analysis refreshes, hydrates, brightens, and/or clears debris from pores. I have NEVER worn goggles, nor do my clients require goggles for this treatment. It would make complete sense to perform a peel, then microdermabrasion, and that is one of the protocols I recommend to some of my clients. The salicylic acid (or whichever acid used) helps to loosen the dead skin cells which the microdermabrasion then sloughs away. Skin care and treatments are cumulative, rarely does any one treatment provide instantaneous results. I see you searching for the other horrible things a microdermabrasion treatment can do to skin aside from breaking capillaries and breaking down collagen. Any esthetician worth her license would be able to determine whether a client is a good candidate for ANY treatment, and any skin care/product routine for that matter. I have had numerous microderm treatments and I can tell you that it doesn't 'hurt'. If you were to use suction that is too aggressive or the wrong granularity or grit of course it will be painful. For that matter, a 49 cent sponge would be painful if used incorrectly on the face or anywhere on the body. Even YOUR OWN product line states that you can achieve glowing skin "if used correctly". Hmm, I see a theme here. I don't understand what you intent was for this video, but I say to the public, please do your research on the 'expert' you're listening to and the red flag warnings being given. I can debunk practically every claim made in this video, and I find it ironic that the presenter is angry about being lied to about skin care products and services.

I wouldn't say that microdermabrasion is a scam. It is great as a buff and polish for the skin and leaves your skin incredibly soft, smooth and radiant for only about 1-2weeks. I totally recommend it as a pick me up before an event or special occasion. There are definitely a lot more effective treatments such as micro needling and chemical peels that give you better results. But what is appealing about micros are that it is non invasive, chemical free and it's quick and easy :)
@thechristiansguidetoself-c39007 жыл бұрын
It depends on "WHO" is doing the microderm. I've had it done for five years, and one person didn't use enough hand stroke so I didn't see a difference. But when I asked for another tech, she used great hand stroke and turned up the number. My face felt like a baby, my dark acne bumps lightened up drastically, and my wrinkles flattened out considerally. A lot of the bacteria that had made a pocket for breakout, went away. My skin was clear and glowy. So if you're not getting good results and see no difference, try another tech. Not all technicians are the same.

I agree. Microdermabrasion and chemical peels both do basically the same thing for your skin, and that is to exfoliate the skin. They remove the top layer of dead skin cells to reveal fresher, smoother skin and both stimulate faster cell turnover to keep your skin fresher. Microdermabrasion is a mechanical means of exfoliation, that is, it uses a scrubbing action to remove the dead skin cells, while the chemical peel penetrates and exfoliates the skin chemically.

I don't think she said anywhere that microdermabrasion doesn't work for what its meant to do (exfoliation) what she means here is its just a fancy exfoliation technique giving you the same result as your best practised home exfoliation so why pay hundreds of dollars on it. She says if clubbed with peels its the peel that gives you the result so save some bucks and go for just the peel instead and exfoliate at home. If you don't agree well go get few more sittings but for some like me this information is very useful who look out for treatments for say acne scarring and are recommended microdermabrasion and after 3 sittings you realise its done nothing for you and you have no more money to treat the real problem. This business is such that the practitioner wants you to never stop bringing you money to them for years.

You are a brave woman for just telling us what happens behind close doors at some of these businesses, and I thank you for that. I work in a dental office where we charge 21 dollars for 2 ounces of Chlorhexidine irrigation after dental cleanings. Chlorexidine is an excellent antimicrobial that people can get it with a prescription at a cheaper price at the pharmacy (between 4-12 dollars for a 16 oz bottle), but we sell it as an irrigation. Scientific studies by the Journal of the American Dental Association state that is good as a mouthwash, but there is no benefit as an irrigation. Well, guess what: we charge it anyway.

As an Esthetician for over ten years, I have learned a lot about microdermabrasion. You typically don't see an immediate result after one treatment, it is a "series" of treatments if you want to see a gradual difference. Microdermabrasion is essentially exfoliating the surface of your skin as well as sucking the dead skin into to machine. Also, the suction brings blood to the surface of the skin to promote the production of collagen and speeds up cell turnover. The statement of using a "Scrubber Pad" is the same as Microdermabrasion is harmful and uneducated! A Scrubber Pad is used for dishes.....I hard nonporous surface. I don't even know why I'm explaining this, it should be common knowledge not to scrub your skin with a Scrubber Pad. It can cause abrasions that could lead to scarring, discoloration, and sensitivity.

I don't mean to be disrespectful to the spa or the woman speaking in it, who I respect for her passion on microdermabrasion. This comment doesn't really have to do with microdermabrasion but spa treatments, and skin care in general. I'm currently working on a presentation for my college about how not a lot is done about cosmetics by the FDA. On the FDA website, a cosmetic is defined as "articles intended to be rubbed, poured, sprinkled, or sprayed on, introduced into, or otherwise applied to the human body...for cleansing, beautifying, promoting attractiveness, or altering the appearance" (FDA site).Therefore, a microdermabrasion treatment, or other spa treatment is viewed as a cosmetic. Here's the kicker, the FDA doesn't have to pre-approve the product (in this case, service) before use in the market. They can take legal action against the company and those responsible either when they feel a need to inspect the product, or when someone files a report. Going deeper, products on the market can be still sold even if they are linked to "cancer, reproductivetoxicity, immunotoxicity, endocrine disruption, neurotoxicity, Organ system toxicity, ecotoxicity, mutations, and biochemical changes" to name a few (EWG site). Why? There can be several reasons such as, it hasn't been reported, it is not deemed to be injurious to user by the FDA, etc. I say all this to set the record straight, and to let you know that not all doctors have the answers, its up to us as consumers to do our research on these treatments and products we use with credible sources, which I'm sorry, but is not a youtube video or even the comments. I urge you to be curious and cautious with how you do spend your money on services and products for your wallet, for your health, and for your future. Links with my information: www.fda.gov/cosmetics/guidanceregulation/lawsregulations/ucm074162.htm www.ewg.org/skindeep/site/about.php Notice they are .gov and .org, they are credible sources.

" the next day she looked exactly the same" as far as I'm aware to see some visible results after a microdermabrasion you're suppose to wait for a certain amount of time as your skin produces collagen which is why your skin improves and this is certainly not a one day process. Many believe what they read in magazines yet what people don't know is that companies pay thousands of dollars to have their articles in print. We work hard for our money therefore every dime we spend on skin care should prove immediate results. Passionate is how I feel about skin. Please check the facts. If you don't know where to check (FDA , Dermatology Times) then we are more than happy to help you. ❣️

Seraphim Skin Care any suggestions for large pores ? Im glad i stumbled on your video i was actually going to get a micro derm til this now im not sure what to get for large pores?
@dennisrod95577 жыл бұрын
I was thinking of getting microdermabrasion, but after watching your video I have decided not to. You’re putting yourself in the consumer’s shoes & as a professional you’re letting us know that it’s a waste of money. I love that & I believe you as a reliable source

They do that in Asia where they sell you expensive treatments telling you it improves your skin but only last temporary only to make money for themselves and sell you as much skincare products these videos are very informative letting people know the truth

Seraphim Skin Care I think Micro needling is better than microdermabrasion.

well it usually takes several treatments to see results with microdermabrasion.

I watched this video before I received my microdermabrasion, like everyone else I thought she was just trying to promote her products. 12 Microdermabrasions later, I realized she was right. No noticable changes on the face. So pretty much I spent $ 1,200 for nothing. I'm doing at home gycolic peel and i already am noticing a huge difference. She also has great skin, the ladies who did my microdermabrasions usually didn't.

I work full-time and have no downtime for peels. Yes I listened. did you? Thanks for your comment.
@carolb92896 жыл бұрын
There are tons of peels that require no downtime, talk with your esthetician about options! Also, all peels are not "chemical" based, but enzyme peels (from fruit) are also available. Again, consult with your professional esthetician for options!

if you use a device like Dermalinfusion it is controlled and uses a diamond tip with simultaneous infusion. No harmful aluminum oxide crystals are used

So from my experience I burned my skin pretty badly using a diy mask and was left with really dark hyperpigmentation around my mouth that I couldn’t cover without makeup and wouldn’t budge and lighten at all, 2 years later I decided to get my first facial, when the clinician saw my skin she recommended hydromicrodermabrasion, I was sceptical and didn’t think it would help but thought it was worth a go. I kid you not, one session that’s all it took one session and the dark marks were completely gone, it was very red for a few hours after but my skin never felt so soft after, all the darkness around my mouth had gone and my skin was glowing. I think maybe it depends on what products are used in combination with it but I do think it’s over priced, you can get an at home device for the same price as one session and treat multiple areas. I’m going to purchase my own now from homedic

A rough sponge would have the same effect if you were exfoliating your skin but you would have to use very lightly..or you would badly scratch your face or worse ...best alternative is using sugar and olive oil to rub gently over your face.. cheap and works miracles

My first microdermabrasion treatment was four days ago. I came out of it with a bunch of red marks on my face. I now have scabs all over my face that looks like a cat scratched it. I’m still waiting for it to heal. Hopefully I don’t have permanent scars. Maybe it was the esthetician who was uneducated in microdermabrasion. Needless to say, I don’t think I’ll do it again.
@stjohnbaby6 жыл бұрын
In a licensed Aesthetician,Ca,NV,been in the industry 40 years, many unskilled Aestheticians,be cautious,you should not have scabs,there is a protocol that must be followed and done correctly.
@ldld646 жыл бұрын
No ,your wrong then if your comparing it to a sponge, because I exfoliate regularly and it does make a difference ,so microdermabrasion has to do something ( I've never had it done ) but when you compare it to a sponge, well a exfoliating sponge does very well and I would say microdermabrasion should too !! (You just pay a lot more ) 😊

My mom did microdermabrasion on me recently she is a medical esthetician btw and my acne cleared up in about 3-4 sessions I had Nodules and cystic. She also uses the diamond tip (no crystal)
@normmt24245 жыл бұрын
Aesthetician vs Esthetician ? Are both licensed skin specialists. They are trained to analyze and cleanse skin through a variety of techniques. Estheticians can be found in spas and salons, while aestheticians typically work in medical settings and make more money.

I had microdermabrasion done many years ago for acne scaring and it did wonders. It wasn’t just a one off and it took time to see results but I did and I was very happy 😊 As I am now older I guess it would dry out my skin but with proper hydration I think I would give it another go

I was hoping for some pointers to pass on to my staff. This is certainly not the experience of hundreds of patients. I would also never advise someone to go over their face with a kitchen sponge.

I’ve had about 6 micro dermabrasion and I really think there over rated I’ve barley seen any improvement in my slight scaring that I have it’s defintly not worth the price is just basically a really good exfoliate that you can do at home to get similar results in my opinion aswell

I have a microdermabrasion facial once a fortnight and have achieved excellent results. I'm constantly having compliments on my skin. It's incredibly relaxing, doesn't hurt and I swear by it. Nothing is going to be a one size fits all and you're wrong. There is a science behind it. It has proven results in the medical world and as a result stepped across into the beauty industry.

I don't believe what you're saying it does not work because it did not work for me I had no changes at all on my skin and I did notify them that something wasn't right or maybe they used the wrong product or something but no changes so I do believe you it's a scam
@slimeasmrlover29688 жыл бұрын
Marlyn Hee its not a scam. Of course you wont see results after one use! Try and use it every week only, since its like an extreme exfoliation on the face and makes it sensitive. So try and put as much spf everyday after the microdermabration. If your gettimg the facials, try it every momth or every 2 weeks. If its at home, do it every week since facials are expensive.

So it basically ever so slightly abrades the skin, and then the suction device sucks up all the dead skin and reminence? Are the tips supposed to penetrate the skin? Also does anyone know if there's a difference between the microdermabrasion devices they use in clinics and the good quality ones you can buy online? :)
@skinlogica79297 жыл бұрын
Rio the home use devices don't have the power an in-clinic machine would have. the pressure and vacuum available. The clinic iequipment s much more powerful. Also home use ones are battery operated. So the results are very different between a home use device and a proper crystal microdermabrasion treatment in the clinic.
