I had a mole problem for years. I tried trapping and baiting with minimal success. It wasn't until 4 years ago I began putting down imidacloprid every May/June to prevent grubs along with Bayer Advanced 24hr Grub Killer as needed for any outbreaks. I have not seen a single mole tunnel on my property since 2019. Maybe it's just a coincidence but I'll continue my regimen until proven otherwise.

Sometimes it is just the grubs that are drawing them in. Nature can vary from area to area. I have many customers that use our grub control to maintain their mole population and haven't seen any moles since they started the grub control as well. I'm just saying Don't expect them to go away if you use grub control. One more tip for you the common grubs only cycle once a year. If you do one precise application at the right time you'll only have to apply once. In our area northern indiana it's typically end of june beginning of july.

i've been using the yellow cone shape bait. It works. Push a hole and sprinkle in. They go away or die....

Marshmallow? Do you mean that the moles will eat it and die?

I got a set of those traps. I found there run to and from our landscaping. I got them set and they just went around them. They seem to come right up to them and just go around. What should I do?

I've had that struggle too. That's when I switch to the bait. The Talpirid mole worm baits work 98% of the time. And as far as the traps go, sometimes I set the plunger too deep, and they can sense that. Make sure the plunger stays up at the surface of the lawn if possible, and sometimes, the soil is too soft. Once again, then I switch to the bait.

When finding their tunnels, is it true they'll fill back in the small holes I poke into their tunnels? Last night I poked about 6 holes in their main tunnels and dropped bait down into each one and covered the holes back up with big rocks so nothing could get down in there. This morning I checked under the rocks and every hole except one was filled back up with fresh dirt. Does that mean they probably took the bait and filled the holes back in? I'm using some poison bait pellets that made by Tom Cat. Not sure if they ate the bait but it seems they were in those areas sealing their tunnel back up at least.

The pellets won't work unfortunately. Have to use the gummy worm type of bait. When they go back through the tunnel they move the dirt around and it would fill those holes. But I guarantee they did not eat that bait on purpose.

Excellent video. Great job. Easy to see you know your industry! Good stuff. I was just about to upload a KZbin Short regarding mole tunnels in a client’s yard and what it may or may not indicate. Keep up the solid informative vids. Keep it lean and green! Ha 👊😎👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’m going to start using the worms but wish there was a “heat” seeking device to locate the moles.

Remember best times to use worms is after a rain. And also make sure you push all the tunnels down and place the worms and newly pushed up tunnels to get closer the active mole. Along the edges of sidewalks landscape beds and fences tend to be the best places.

Hi Just to add a comment about my experience with moles. I was home in Republic of Kosovo and I did catch a live mole, and after 30 seconds it was dead. I did an experiment with it. I got it and i pushed it back into the mole hole and waited. Not to longe after a live mole came and it was pushing the dead mole out of the hole. With a shovel i managed to get another one out. After that i didn't try again. Does it mean that the live moles don't like the dead ones in the mole hole. Please try and let mi know the results. Thank you

Moles are very territorial and they will clean out their tunnels so that they are clear in order to keep their prey easily accessible .

@gcqfertilizer1961 hi again Just a question In order to catch a live mole, would you consider a clever/practical idea using a dead mole ? Thank you

I have been defending over 10 acres in costal Washington for 30 years, I have done and tried it all. Hands down worms are the best method but the price is insane. I also have had good results in the summer sun scouting for dark wet soil in the mound showing active digging. Advance toward the mound walk as softly as possible. Swing a large sledge hammer or Maul down into the center of the mound as soil is surfacing. You will get it 9 out of 10 attempts! I don't even dig them up to confirm anymore. Wack A Mole! As for the worms, some are too expensive and others are too wet and soft making placement an complex bit of micro excavation. I want to poke a hole with 4 foot piece of #4 rebar bent with handle and foot stirrup, drop worm pitch off hole in sod and move on.

What about pets? Are the gummy worms toxic to dogs?
@gcqfertilizer1961

Yes just like Decon for mice. I've never seen a dog dig one up though but if you love your dogs like I love mine you will take extra precautions to make sure they stay away from it.
