It was still pretty cool in the early 2000s. 😎 I lived there in 03-05. Bartender/waiter/off Broadway construction/private chef/ nude housecleaner for rich homosexuals. That was my life in NYC and Miami for 10 years. About to make a comeback as a stripper since I been working out again. 😆

I first visited NYC in 1984 and returned a few times in the late 80s. It was gritty on the streets with lots of criminals (I was assaulted in broad daylight in Herald Square and attacked around 2pm in GCS), and filthy subways (missing doors, spray paint on all sides in and out), stench of piss etc. But it had great architecture and restaurants, bars, sightseeing. I visited after Guiliani took over and the place was fantastic in terms of safety and improved cleanliness. Sounds like it's on its way down again if you read right-wing pundits.

Sad that so many beautiful places with such outstanding architecture & talent have gone to the dogs. 2020 killed small independent businesses & the way people interacted has become so divisive. Would love to hear more about NYC. Cheers & Best wishes ☘️✌🏻

2020 did damage, but so did the 20 years prior to that when Walmart and Home Depot's and McDonald's were popping up on every single corner. When CVS and Walgreens put independent pharmacies out to pasture. When Applebee's and Chili's and outback put small independent mom and pop diners out of business. 2020 was a lot of things, but it wasn't the root cause of every problem.

Luckily I’m not too far from Montreal and it’s still pretty cool up there even if the same issues are coming. I have been to all 48 states and every major city in the US. I have a cousin who lives in Brooklyn and loves it. I have been to NYC about ten times for work. Maybe it was different back in the 80s but I went there several times for work and pretty much hated the place. The roads are all fucked up and every other mile you have to go thru another toll booth. The biggest thing I did not like is the vibe of the place. The place has a very dark and extremely unfriendly vibe to it. Eighty percent of the people u interact with there is very rude and vile. You say good morning to them and they wanna stick a knife in you. The last time I was there a fucking cop pulled me over and literally physically threatened me. Maybe there’s something I’m missing. Maybe it’s different if you grow up there. Every city has a silver lining in it. I’m sure there’s a lot to do and see but I did not like the vibe of the place. It’s very unpleasant and everyone is pissed off at everyone and yet I don’t understand the appeal. I have met many people that have moved from there and come down south and they all tell me how horrible it was there. Maybe it’s different if a person has roots there. But why would I pay incredible rent for a very high crime and tense unhappy place??

Joey, do you seriously think you're one of the best comedians that's ever lived? I think the size of your audience would decide that. Do think that blacks are the cause of NYC's decline because of the conditions there now? I don't.. Do you remember what it was like there before Rudy Giuliani cleaned it up? I do. It was a lot worst than it is now.

Informative and a very detailed video for people that are thinking of moving to NYC or maybe perhaps visiting there however, I’m a bit skeptical and thrown off and a little offended with the stereotypical edited pictures you thumb nailed aswell as the edited pictures you’ve shown on display when talking about the dangers in NYC, not really sure on how to describe it, but in my eyes my intuition tells me that it was pretty wrong and a bit insulting, but on the flip side either than that the video is pretty educational and informal considering newcomers from elsewhere to NYC.

Its the trump model or essentially just the opposite of what his dad did. The doc Hypernormalisation explains it a bit.

Another movie dangerfield was funny I think it was caddyshack when he was at that party with all those old people and he goes up too like 95 year old lady and says hay hay baby wow you must have been something before electricity. He was the best in my opinion.
