Patron is overrated for the price, sorry. It's an "OK" tequila but for $55.00 for a 750ml, you could buy Tequila Ocho or G4 for $47.00 and those tequilas are AMAZING for sipping and fairly findable. If you're buying an "OK" tequila, it's likely for mixing and you're better off getting brands like Cimarron ($29.99) or Arette ($25.99) and are still better than Patron. If Patron was $25.00-30.00 a bottle, I'd be less critical. I know all this thanks to Lui so credit to him for teaching me all this!

Patron can be picked up for like $35 in AZ man. For the price it’s not bad. Me personally I’d go with better options. But patron gets lumped up with the trash tequila sometimes.

I purchased patron some time ago, it's fine. I got the blanco. I feel like Mijenta is absolute perfection. I've had their Blanco and Reposado and I'm hooked. I got Mijenta through Lui. Best recommendation ever

Patron was the brand that got me interested in Tequila. Before that I had only ever tried cheap brands that we all know are crappy, Jose Cuervo. The first time I had it was when a former friend of mine gave me and another friend of mine each a shot at a New Year’s party. I was blown away by how good it was. And years after that I got a bottle of Patron for myself and from there I tried other brands. I didn’t know about the additive-free thing at the time. But afterwards I started learning more about properly made tequilas. Now I still think Patron is good, but not my favorite. These days I recommend Siete Leguas to people who like Patron.

In a pinch patron is easily findable and recognized but at my supermarket I can readily find Ocho Plata and the new bottle design brings around even the most sceptical making it my go to blanco. The only time I'll drink patron is when it's the best option for a mixed drink at a restaurant.

I buy Patron to give away as a gift because I know they will recognize the brand instead of something really good like say a bottle of g4 or ocho. I once brought a bottle siete leguas añejo to the party and nobody knew what it was. Some were picking herradura over it 😅

I agree with this assessment, and it's refreshing to know there's a mass-market widely available option out there that's worth consideration. Patron got a bit of a reputation back in the 2000s, and I'd suggest that it's $10-15 overpriced (shelf minimum in Michigan's $49.96 for a 750ml of the silver). But, it ain't that bad, and it makes a fine cocktail. If someone pulls out a bottle, I won't say no.

Thank you! Finally someone gave a fair and honest review, and didn't poo poo Parton because that's the popular thing to do. Is it the best tequila, no, is it good, absolutely. I just did held back to back blind tasting with 6 Blanco tequilas day 1 neat, day 2 in margaritas. Ocho won both by a big margin, Patron and Lunazul, Lalo were all very close in the 2-4 range. Patron needs to bring back the Roco Patron, all Tahona produced. Tequila matchmaker shakes down the industry for their seal of approval, not cool. Patron takes very good care of the community, waste water, and employees . My local total wine had Patron for $29.99, at that price it's great, ( it's since went back to $34.99 early January), a good buy, if it goes over $40.00 no, I'll buy Ocho which I always have on hand anyway.

Patron is just fine, their problem is they're priced about the same as Tequila Ocho in my store, which absolutely blows them out of the water and it's not close. Biggest irritation is that tons of mediocre bars have Patron as their "premium" option and it's expensive af. It ain't premium. El Tesoro is premium.

Patron definitely deserves more respect than it gets. It’s a great baseline tequila for introducing your friends to what an additive free tequila should taste like instead of the Cuervo Golds or vanillas bombs of the world. No, it’s not as ‘agave forward’ as many tequila-freaks want, but it holds its own in cocktails. Here in the Chicagoland area, you can find bottles sometimes for 25 bucks. It’s like the Makers Mark of tequila: a massed produced quality product that can be described as ‘inoffensive’ to newbies and one that I’m totally comfortable coming back to sip/mix with after all the Ocho, Fortaleza, ArteNoms, etc experiments.

Patron runs $35 in AZ but can be picked up for $30 at Costco and Sam’s club. For the price it’s good tequila. Not the best but it gets lumped up with trash a lot and it’s not.

I’ve been a tequila aficionado long enough that in the first few years Patron was often the only real choice available to me. Tequila snobs, and I’m part of that group I fear, turn their noses up at Patron. I haven’t bought a bottle in years, but sometimes when we’re out, it remains the only game in town, and a glass of their blanco is fine; I have never cared for their aged expressions. Lui, in your video I believe you described Patron as “clean.” That’s probably my biggest criticism. In marketing to the masses, the most familiar “cien por ciento de agave azul” tequila seems to have been tamed such that it’s just unremarkable. Another thing you said was that you wish they would market a tahona only tequila (I think I heard that right). They do. Roca Patron. It’s expensive and I find it a bit unremarkable too. When you say that your criticism is that I use the word clean. Are you referring to it being adulterated or are you referring to the flavor just not being remarkable? Because I think that something can be clean and still be for the masses and therefore not have the biggest personality on its own. That doesn't mean it's not clean . And as for the tahona line of products, They stopped producing the Roca, a few years ago. I heard that they might be bringing it back

That being said, I have heard that Patron has used additives in the past in certain expressions but they have since supposedly stopped doing so. My experience was more so the Blanco and seeing the production process up front. I have also not found their regular aged expressions, particularly great but they are higher end expressions like their Burdeos was very good

i am a bourbon fan, but have gotten into tequila lately, with a bit of help from your videos. got the patron blanco on sale, and it is really good. my favorite is Fortaleza Still strength. Ocho is next. have to get some G4 and itgers that u recommend.

I will start off with Patron's distillery looks really cool and I would like to tour it. IMO Patron is over rated, it is a well made tequila but I think you pay for the commercialism and name brand for about the same money and less I have been able to get better (I know prices fluctuate). In total fairness I will drink Patron and if I'm out and the place I'm at has mostly bad brands I will absolutely go with Patron to your point the plus of it being so available and a go-to brand name is most places have it. I'm concerned that bacardi owns them and hope they don't tamper with what they're doing.

One of the problems with Patron is it is "Adequate" It's not a sipper. I only bought it once in the .375 ML sample pack of test the different expressions. It does mix well in a Mexican coffee or a Margarita. Sipping - No. There are too many other excellent tequilas available that meet or beat their price point. G4 Madera blanco, G4 blanco, Lalo, Mijenta and, of course Fortaleza. I wouldn't use these premium brands for mixing. Arette and Cameron are excellent for mixing and beat the Patron price point. I, myself prefer Fortaleza and Tears of Llorona. After careful hunting I now have 3 cases of Fortaleza, 4 expressions, and have only paid over MSRP on one bottle. I'll be sipping the best for a very long time. (Too bad I can only buy one bottle of Fortaleza at a time!)

There is literally not a bottle of Fortaleza for sale in Michigan. It's not even on the state's liquor list. Neither is it available in Ohio, which has a great site on which you can view the liquor inventory in the entire state. I've found one bottle. I was on a road trip and found myself in Santa Fe. That said, it is really great.

Patrón had a roca version while alluded to their tahona (ta-ona) usage for that product. I think it was all 100% tahona crushed tequila. Now it seems they have a new luxury edition called piedra but it’s only available in the one aged varietal. No blanco

Patron is not underrated, it's overhated. It's acceptable tequila that comes with a premium price. The biggest argument against Patron is that it's not competitively priced for what it is. There are too many other tequilas that are arguably higher quality available at lower price points.

I find it smooth (over-filtered) to the point of characterlessness. It's better than the Jose Cuervo crap that used to give me headaches in college, but I don't see why I wouldn't choose vodka over Patron Blanco for all the flavor it brings to the party

I'm new to higher quality tequila and I do think that Patron is just fine, better than the Hollywood hyped tequilas. Now that I've said that, I really do believe it is over priced for what it is. The bottle of Ocho I tried a a couple of weeks ago on your recommendation is in my opinion, much better and about ten dollars cheaper. Now I won't turn it down if someone else is buying but I won't go seeking it out either. As a side note every time I try Patron Blanco/Silver I get the essence of peanut on my palette. Am I crazy ? does anybody else ever get that ? That flavor tends to fade after the second or third sip for me anyway. 1 degree up here in NH this morning, I am going to have to come down there and sip some warming tequila at your place sometime soon. -- dennis

The fact that the CRT would criminalize additive free labels while rolling out their own additive free seal in partnership with patron will forever destroy patron's credibility. I find most funny Lui, is when I can go to Total Wine and see dozens of bottles worth $80-140 on the shelf...yet Patron, just like Don Julio & Casamigos, has a little display card and you have to "ask for it".
