Finally somone with some public reach that is telling the truth. Around me you can not pattern a deer at all for anything. You just wait and hopefully they come by.

I've often thought this... figured maybe they "pattern" easier in fantasy land states. Not so here in NW WI. How does one know exactly where a buck beds every day without disturbing the area, especially in areas that are heavily wooded? Most bedding areas are not observable from an open elevated area off in the distance. Yes, trail cams help but they only give you clues. No intel is as good as seeing what goes on with your own eyes and you can only see so far into the woods. I agree with you Steve, there's a lot of BS out there with self proclaimed experts.

I have to agree with you, Steve. Hunting deer hear in Maine anyway. I do not have much experience in other states but here in Maine, there are a lot of woods with hills, swamps, and blowdowns that make patterning anything nearly impossible. It sure is fun trying though. Good Hunting! Maine North Woods Hunter (Shane)

New to deer hunting. Like you're video. Question, my trail camera is showing activating only at night. During the day I get no activity at all on my camera other than turkeys. Just wondering why this is. Aren't they bedding at night and more active during the day?

You want to hunt heavy pressure deer that have huge home range , crazy out of wack buck to doe ratio, small body and antlers, that deal with hounds , coyote, panther, bear and poachers in the thickest woods with poor soil and nutrients. Come down to the deep south, south Georgia, Florida and south Alabama, try all of these "Skills" you guys talk about and see what you see. Lol All of these tips these deer hunting guys give you are all original none of this stuff that these guys on KZbin are talking about deer hunting with work and extreme Southeast. I mean yes sit in the shooting house overlooking food might work but other than that it's all just to hear themselves talk none of this stuff applies to the extreme southeastern region. When I go hunting any of these states that people complain about pressure and nocturnal and all this blah blah blah. And it's like I'm hunting in a hunting preserve I'll see so many deer so many big deer so many Bucks out of state I just can't believe how good the quality of the honey is on public land. And when I go back to the parking lot the locals are bitching them out too many people no deer and all this other garbage. Some of you guys just get out there and hunt and quit trying to overanalyze the s***.

The small heard that lives around my house is pretty consistent. By that I mean they consistency never do what I think lol. I got a fairly good guess when they will be in the area but thats a month by month kinda thing. Only thing Iv figured out after 5yrs of watching them is they seam to have a pack leader.

Every buck I've shot!. I told everyone that same day I was going into the woods to shoot that certain buck!. Many opening weekends have ended my bow season early. Many. And I'm talking p&y bucks. I can teach you since your opinion is invalid!

I hunt in michigan. 80 acres surrounded by many other properties with hunters that shoot darn near anything. We did alot of the stuff you guys do. Use the scents. Stay out of certain areas. Calling. That's the stuff that's no good. Even you said it in one of your videos that you guys use stuff that you know doesn't work. The stuff we do doesnt aloow us to see the pattern of the deer cause we are ruining the hunt without knowing. When you stop doing all that stuff, learn that being silent is actually key. Not the editing of people acting like they called a deer in everytime. That's more rare then people actually admit. Scout during February to April, you can absolutely pattern deer. If you find beds during the off season with trails, rubs, thickets, scrapes. When you start to correlate that to the wind and why he's there and the timing you can absolutely pattern a deer for the rut. Throw a camera in the area and confirm it. That's actually how we've all been shooting 3 and 4 year Olds consistently every year for the last 5-6 years. Last couple years we've been trying to bump up our age class. And I was able to film, pattern a 126" 8 point at 5 years old that we had 3 years of history with along with my uncle shooting a nice 4 year old. It's the fact that everyone is doing stuff to ruin their property without even knowing and then thinking that there is no bucks or something else is the cause and that they just run wild. Just have to stop using the stuff that makes people money but doesn't help make your memory. Like I said we used and did it all. Didn't kill anything consistently. Stopped and started scouting before spring. And being silent in the fall. I'm going to put together a video soon to show this too. And when you stop listening to the "pros" on TV to me that might arguably be the best decision a hunter can make. Love your other videos though!

Deer are (mostly) territorial creatures of habit. If it weren’t for that, a lot less deer would be taken. There are no 100% absolutes though. Then again, sometimes despite your mistakes, you can be successful through plain dumb luck. That’s deer hunting.

I believe I patterned a buck this last season. I keep a log in my blind. Weather, pressure times of sightings and so-on that goes in that log. He would come in every 3rd day. If the pressure was above 30 he'd come out before 5 below 30 he'd come out after dark.
