Gunsmith here ….. springs get broken in by compression cycles, not just compression ……. So for magazines, load and unload the mag several times to break in new springs vs leaving them loaded for an extended period to break them in

Bought 2 of the "regular" PSA magazines. Ran 250 rounds through each using 115, 124, and 147gr FMJ. Also 124 +p HST and 147 +p+ Underwood JHP. Utterly PERFECT operation. I've ran through a handful of SA mags and every one of them had some type of issue. Just ordered 5 more from PSA. I can't say enough about them!

The PSA and Shield mags are, essentially, the same dimensions as the metal liner under the polymer of a Glock 19 magazine. There was a dude on here that took one of those and turned it into a 15 round 43X magazine; the problem was the polymer coating added length front to back, and removing both caused issues. Shield had issues because they were shorter in that dimension, hence why their gen3 has those bumps/ridges on the back to try and take up that space to keep the rounds oriented in the right spot. And PSA, of course, went with a hybrid metal/poly design to avoid having that same issue, as well as allow the use of the OEM polymer mag release.

That's absolutely genius that psa left the magazine mold as polymer. No need to change mag catches. ALSO - No need to load the magazine and let it just sit. You can get the magazine spring to it's proper set much faster just by loading and unloading the magazine 5 or 6 times.

I believe the SA mag release flair is on the left of the mag . Making your mag release on the right. I notice pushing it in the spring rubs the metal release. I saw visible wear from rubing on the spring .. I am going to put my mag release on the right and see if that helps. I just got a 43x with 2 sheld 15rd , and I am now questioning it. I never liked glocks, but I saw this set up and said ok .I hope that when I shoot mine, it runs fine .

Just tried out my untried, new PSA 15 round Dagger magazine this past Friday in my 43x. I ran 200 rounds of ammunitions through this mag that consisted of 124 grain Federal HST, Magtech 115 Grain, and Nautilus 124 grain. This magazine ran perfectly without any issues what so ever. Slingshot of the slide, no problem; slide release, no problem. I am extremely impressed with this mag. BTW, your mention of seeing some of that chrome at the base between the grip and the mag base plate, is the same distance that you see the black at the base of the grip and the base plate on the Glock OEM mag. Right out of the cellophane, the Dagger mag ran solid. I would be comfortable carrying this mag. Thank you for putting out this great review. Good luck on your continued use of the Dagger Mags!!

Great video! Another point to be made for PSA over Shield Arms...it's not just the cost savings from not having to buy a metal mag catch/release, the opportunity cost of having to shelve two or three pefectly good Glock OEM mags should be factoreed in as well. I have seen how quickly a metal mag release will chew up and ruin a Glock mag. Running the PSA mags then allows me to run the Glock 10 round mags interchangeably with the PSA mags affording the peace of mind that I won't ruin my Glock mags and at the same time I continue to get practical use out of them. As it is right now, my Glock mags are in storage since I am using the S15 mags. Based on your testing, I have decided to try a PSA Micro Dagger magazine in my G43x MOS. If it works out as I expect, I will just eat the investment I have made in five S15 mags, a metal mag release and two S15 mag extensions. The S15s have been ok but the occasional but rare issues I have with them still nag at my mind.

If I was doing a straight comparison between a stock 43X/48 MOS and a XMACRO TACOPS, and cost wasn't a factor, I am going to choose the Sig all day every day. 10 rounds verse 17 rounds is enough to have me sold. However, I will say there is something special about all the add-ons for the Glock that you can customize it with, to really make it feel like your own custom gun. Stay tuned though, I am about to be doing a whole lot with the Sig though and trying to make it just as custom as my 43X.

AGREED! That's why I said we need long-term exposure with real-world data before I would give an official endorsement. Had a pretty interesting comment from an engineer as to why the new S15 mags are giving people problems. The weld seams inside the mags aren't smooth in some of the magazines, making the follower have issues pushing up.

I was pro Shield Arms S15 mags. I got a 43X just for these mags. I ordered the Gen 1 S15’s they ran fine. After a few hundred rounds they wouldn’t lock the slide back when empty. SA said I needed to BUY the power springs to fix the error, their bad, but, I have to BUY. 1st issue. They continued to run well. SA eventually started using just the power springs in the mags. I bought close to 100 for our group. I let one of the guys take my personal ones as I had some on order. They shipped the Gen 2 mags. THOSE WERE CRAP1 literally 3 jams per mag, all 3 mags. Then tried each mag 2 more times. 3 mags, 3 more jams per mag, it’s like they were counting. I contacted SA and they wanted to blame the mag catch, theirs, I need the newer one and operator error. I sold those and found 3 Gen 1’s. Too late my trust was gone! I sold those Gen ones even though they worked ok I went back to oem mags. There was always a lot of play when the SA mags were in the pistol. I found the PSA micro dagger mags, & the pistol like all of you. I ordered 2 of the “slick” mags when I saw the polymer over the metal. Hey that’s a winner! I got them in 3-4 days. The mags came in the Shrink Wrap, not Saran Wrap. It’s an industrial thing. No big deal, I was fine if they came un wrapped. The big thing I like initially, is the ability to use either mag, as in no mag catch swap. You could with the other mags, the SA, but damage will happen to the polymer at some point. I tried them in my buddy’s pistol a 43X. No more play than the original Glock mags. A good sign. This is the real issue with the S15’s. The follower and mag notch for the catch all matched my OEM mags, another good sign. Then they ran great, locked the slide back, no issues. I would love to try the micro dagger. For $28.99 I got the blemished ones, I can’t find the blemishes anywhere. I don’t trust aftermarket parts as much as OEM, but so far would go with these.

I didn’t go with shield arms because of the need for the metal mag catch which then was not supposed to be used with the OEM mags. That’s just a pain in the ass. PSA mags work with the plastic catch, so you can switch back and forth, and so far have been 100% reliable for me. I am convinced enough with my first mag that I am carrying it. Won’t use my other one for carry until that is also tested but with 300 rounds through the first one without a hiccup, 250 target ammo, 50 rounds of defensive ammo, I am convinced its good to go. Happy Days and congratulations, after all the pain you went through with the Shield Arms mags I bet you are relieved LOL

Interesting choice of packaging. A bit crude, but PSA is overloaded with demand. These are selling out literally within hours of coming back in stock. I also plan to try and get a few of these (standard black finish) at some point, even if they don't work that well I can still toss them in the range bag. But early reports on these mags seem to be promising. I think the big deal is going to be being able to use the stock magazine catch. PSA might have hit a home run with these if they stand up over time. Only problems I have heard of have been with plastic burrs on the inside of the mag I think PSA is now aware of and watching. Good video and appreciate the honest reviews. Stay safe.

Mike, that is so interesting. With my first Glock 43X, I bought the Gen 2s and had no issues with them. Then I bought a new 43X MOS and Gen 3s, and wouldn't you know it, they caused nothing but issues until I got them back from SA, then they worked fine. I did read somewhere that if you take some fine grit sandpaper to the edges of the follower and the inside of the magazine, the Gen 3s run great. Must be because of what you mentioned about the weld seams.

I carry a spare mag just in case of any type of failure where I need to drop the mag to clear my weapon not to have the biggest imaginary gun battle where I save the world. With that said I would rather carry the OEM mag than have a fear of the aftermarket mag not working. If I was going to purchase one of these it would probably be my spare mag, to be honest yes I truly believe the more rounds the better but they need to work 100% not 99%, but if I need more than 10 rounds I’m in trouble and I should have called for backup, or I should have trained more.

I'll note my recent findings as a lefty: The mag catch notch on these mags for left handed is a bit shallower though I notice nothing yet from it, and I've noticed mag insert issues (get's caught up.) I believe its something to do with how the mag is molded, on that side it appears there are some ridges which might be binding it up. There are scuff marks from it dragging on the mag catch when inserting/removing. Very tight. Weird tight when loading. 3rd, 4th, 5th rounds were hard, then after 12th round it was rough lol

Probably cheaper and easier to swap out a worn mag release than to replace worn out polymer mag. I learned about mixing metal mags and polymer mag releases during the first AWB in 94. New preban glock mags were going for over 100 bucks a pop. I found some metal glock mags by Mec Gar for considerably less. They only ran reliably with fmj until they wore out the mag release after about 2 dozen reloads. Nobody back then made metal aftermarket mag releases.

@@BigTimberLodge we have been trying it as an experiment for us I actually am sporting the Canik mc9 on my hip and despite all the bad reviews I’m at 1000 rounds and only once did it not lock back on last round we all have a questionable gun we are testing for ourselves funny thing is none of us seem to have any of the issues with the p365 mc9 or 43x that folks are complaining about honestly I’m going to have to say it’s user error for 99 percent of theses issues not know how to disassemble parts messing it up forcing things together idk but we can’t make these issues people complain about happen to us
