Motion sickness in VR is something most people have to go through when they first use a VR headset. I certainly suffered my fair share of it in the early days but little by little your brain either adjusts and you don't get motion sickness anymore or you have to quit using VR (apart from maybe 360 VR videos). It took me a few months to completely get rid of VR motion sickness but it does improve pretty quickly if you keep using the headset and choose less intense experiences until your brain is no longer fooled.

@joergbock1976 Жыл бұрын
For the money it's bloody awesome. The first thing I noticed was how you register strong elevations so much more, be it Bathurst (Mount Panorama), the cork screw on Laguna Seca or chasing down the Eau Rouge in Spa. Next thing was the depth perception helping you so much more with finding good breaking points. Spatial awareness is awesome in GT7. Sure it's not as crisp as the 2D version, but that'ssomething more noticable to a viewer than the player. Your focus is on the track, the mirrors, the car next to you or behind you. It's so damn vivid and fun. No cyber sickness with this game, got to struggle with 1st person games like Horizon or The Village though, when trying to play them as usual (fluid movement and turning). The brain expects inertia when stopping or turning on foot. In a car that's different, as my brain's everyday experience is usually a smooth ride.

IMPORTANT THING that most GT7 VR players dont know is - for anyone wondering how to adjust the in game wheel to be higher or lower, or away from you (the driver), or closer to you, simply lower your head (while you have the psvr2 headset on) and keep pressed the option button if you want the wheel to be higher, raise the head+hold the option button if you want the wheel to be lower. Lean/move your body toward the wheel and keep pressed the option button if you want the in game wheel to be further from you, move away from the wheel+hold on the option button if you want the ingame wheel to be closer to you. So, play around a few times until you get the desired position.

I have had a dedicated racing rig for about 2 years now and it wasn’t till I got the psvr2 that I felt like a kid again playing those racing games in the arcade, the immersion is incredible and it far outweighs the visuals. Some will say “you’ll eventually get tired of it” but tbh it’s the other way around I just can’t go back to playing on a tv lol I feel like I have better control and spacial awareness in vr and my sense of speed feels way better I can actually carry a lot more speed in corners and get within a pixel of the walls. Foveated Rendering is why the screen is showing blurriness. The headset makes what your eyes are looking at sharp and diminishes the resolution of the peripheral to aid in performance of the game while in VR. Just like in real life, what your eyes are focusing on is the sharpest and everything around it becomes blurred.

Really good video, very informative. I'm personally not going to be getting it as I have a very decent gaming PC (12th Gen I9, 3080) and I don't really play console games, so it's really not worth $1000 for me for the handful of exclusives. It does look like a very good option for someone who is also into console gaming though. A word about racing setups. What BlackPanthaa says is 100% correct, you CAN spend a TON of cash on a high end setup if you want to. You don't really HAVE to though. I do think having a wheel and pedals setup completely transforms the experience, but the difference between not having one at all vs. having one is MUCH bigger than the difference between having a lower end setup vs. a higher end. If sim racing is it for you, you race competitively on iRacing, and everything else is ancillary then yea you might want to pop a couple of grand for a high end setup. Otoh if you're more of a casual racer like me that just likes to jump in and run a few laps now and then and experience what it's like to drive a high end race car on a real track, then a low end setup is all you need, I personally use a Thrustmaster T-150, which I believe is the cheapest wheel you can get that has force feedback and I'm perfectly happy with it. Ok, not PERFECTLY happy, the pedals suck and I do plan on upgrading them, but the wheel itself is just fine for me. And I mount it on a Playseat Challenge, so the whole setup cost me around $400. That's still a bit of money, but it's a far cry from thousands and you still get a very good experience from it. Not to mention they're easy to sell on eBay, so if you decide you love sim racing and want to spring for something better, you can always sell it and upgrade. Anyway, just my $.02 on racing setups.

I've watch a few PSVR2 reviews now, and own these myself, and if you want to know how good they are in GT7, just watch the reviewers like BlackPanthaa laughing and giggling when they drive! Or even when they look over a car in the garage. It really is that damn good! I got bad motion sickness though so have limited my play. My brain is screaming at me it should be feeling movement when I'm feeding it a visual of cornering and elevation change. I'd love to see more haptic feedback in the headset replicating the controller, and maybe that will help with motion sickness, or perhaps going to haptic feedback devices like a Buttkicker may help (?). But if you get sick, stop, limit play, use motion sickness tablets to calm yourself down, and chew gum when playing and even ginger products (which is what I'm also doing) and there are heaps of videos on VR motion sickness to help you out.

I'm glad Theo briefly addressed something a lot of wheel users experience, but rarely talk about: Fatigue. Using a wheel and pedal (with or without VR) is very draining. Even if you're used to driving IRL, racing is entirely different and demands a lot more focus and faster reflexes compared to daily driving. So, if you're not used to the demands racing puts on you physically, you'll probably have to meter your sessions accordingly. Like adjusting to anything, build yourself up gradually until you can do three, four hour sessions (or more) if that's your goal.

So when you go on banked turns like at Daytona your view doesn’t shift along with the banking off the car on the turn. Similar thing happens when you go down the corkscrew at Laguna Seca, view stays fairly level while the car drops down along with the drop in elevation. Just stumbled across your channel and really like it, so I subbed. Have to save up and get the motion sim, like a Yaw2. Yes a motion sim is expensive, but what some don't realize is you don't need the top of the line wheels, because a lot of the feeling is translated through the motion. If you can get both high end, then the sky is the limit

I sometimes feel sick in GT7 when I crash, which happens from time to time. My mind prepares for impact, but there is none. And sometimes when you go fast and have some decrease or increase pasts like in maggiore. Like you're preparing for this fall but there is none. But it's really rare. It's just one of the greatest gaming experiences I've had.

Exactly, too, bro! I spent over 2k just for racing games. People complain about PSVR2 having a little library. People act like more games won't be made.

A couple of points. You will get more racing games on psvr2. Dirt Rally, Drive club and Wipe Out were on psvr1. Wipe out is probably one of the best vr games ever. This is only the beginning for psvr2 to assume no other racing games will be released is a bit negative.

Great vid nice to hear own car impressions and PSVR2 stuff. I’m sure was just a slip, but that was a 1st gen GT86 you were looking at and driving, not the 400 unit you will never see GR86. Basically GT86 is a slower GR86 which are both great fun. I suggest you give it a try on real life if you have not already. As long as it possibility of going sideways does not make you sick.

Good review bro, what I will say, though, is on PC, the HP Reverb G2, especially using the new OpenXR platform rather than Steam is incredible. It is more expensive than the GT7 PSVR2 combo as you need a good GPU but the fidelity is supersharp.
@dangelobrickwallbrual7794 Жыл бұрын
I agree with you 100% I have G2 as well. Too bad PSVR2 isn't as sharp and clear as the G2. That was the only let down. Besides that. I'm starting to get used to the downgrade in visuals and enjoying GT7 more. But imagine if the sharpness was like G2 with SS.. damn

I’m new to the psvr2 and I never get motion sick from activities, pretty good with that sort of thing. But did rally races made me feel sick and playing No Man’s Sky (space game for those who don’t know) actually made me throw up. Driving in normal races is fine for me though can do a good 4 hours with no problem

I remember going to Disney as a kid and they had a ride my papa loved showing me because it showed in one of the sets the “future” and it was kids in the room wearing VR headsets with their parents and I always thought “WOW I hope I get to experience that some day” and I’m shocked how far technology and VR tech alone has come in such a short time 😮❤

I got the psvr2 and didn't previously have gt7. I had wanted to get it but knew I'd want a wheel and my wife would kill me. After getting the psvr2 I decided to bite on gt7 and I gotta say it plays surprisingly well with the dualsense in gyro mode. I feel like it's undoubtedly more accurate than using the stick (so this goes for vr or not) but if you're in my boat don't hesitate to use the DS as your wheel. It's great fun! I will admit though my arms start to get fatigued on longer sessions since you can't rest your arm weight on the wheel when driving.
@cured_bacon647 Жыл бұрын
It’s a bad habit to rest your weight on any wheel anyways as it can mess up the shaft. You’ll get used to it and your arms wont be as weak anymore.

I judged Gt7 on two things. In real life, I own an abarth 500. I also own a 2020 F-type SVR. Both cars (well the F-Type is only the 14' R) but meh!. I was astonished at the models, absolutely incredible. I put the headset 9n the missus and kids, they thought they were actually sitting in versions of our cars. It's that simple. I also own the HTC Vive and had that day 1 from preoreder. That has the laser room scale 5x5mtr and had it wrapped to a 1080 gtx. And it rocked. But this, for 1k Total with the console, is better off than a PC where your average price is going to be 2.5 to 5k. Even at 1k, this is incredible entry level. I only use a thrustmaster t-248. That's enough for the illusion. In real life..no force feedback translates through a steering wheel like this anyway, in fact at 200mph (i did on autobahn) the steering goes LIGHTER!. I would however recommend force feedback through pedals for the breaking. Lastly, wear glasses ? DONT let them touch the glass, they will scratch the lens.

0:10 OH DEAR GOD HE CALLED THE GT86 A GR86
@tinystar3010 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, its the short nickname for Gazoo Racing GT-86, people also call the GT-86, just an 86. So GR 86 isn't really wrong.
@imvivalamilo Жыл бұрын
@@tinystar3010 I hate to be a nerd, but it was named to GT86 from 2012 to like 2017 or something, after that its model name was just 86. When the second generation came around in 2020 or 2021, Toyota thought it would be fitting to add it to the GR line-up and so they titled it the GR86
@tinystar3010 Жыл бұрын
But doesn't that just mean he's not wrong for saying GR86? If Toyota officially calls it that, and it's their car, then that's what it is now?

@@tinystar3010 It’s like calling the new Supra a Celica Supra. Yes, the model was originally the Celica Supra, but it’s just Supra now.
