Years ago I went to visit a silverback every day at the old Lincoln Park zoo. They had a few benches & he was behind plexiglass. I wouldn’t stare at him, that rude, would keep my eyes mostly down if he looked at me & would read my book. He was so bored, would braid and unbraid his rope on the tire swing. After 3 days, he got up & walked over to the glass & put his hand up. I put mine up to his & he kinda snorted at me to give me his approval! Ive never felt so honored. It was looking into a persons eyes. A thoughtful, kind person. ❤❤❤

You’re thinking of Dian Fossey. She was the one that ‘Gorillas in the Mist’ was about. Jane Goodall is the one that studies chimps. It’s easy to confuse the two since they are well known in their respective studies of both these amazing species of primates. You are so right about Dian Fossey. What she did to bring attention to the poaching of these majestic creatures was her life’s work and unfortunately was the reason of her untimely passing. Her story is the epitome of standing up for something in the matter of life and/or death. She is RIP with the spectacular gorillas she tried to protect, having been buried next to the ones she was closest to in life. 🙏😢

Human does something. Gets some hazelnuts from the nice man in the white coat. Sooner or later the Gorilla will imitate, bet it wouldn't even be that hard. They'd have to be adapted movements though as the Gorilla wouldn't care about form or isolation, he'd use momentum if it's easier, probably couldn't get him doing cable kickbacks.... @@Djuanethat's a fake statistic, 600 psi was tested on the sub adult which wasn't even biting as hard as it could, lions don't have a weak bite they can snap a buffalos spine. Gorillas don bite 1300psi that was a made up random guess based on nothing.

If you could train the silver back gorilla to lift weights he will even get stronger than the untrained gorilla that is already super strong. That means the powerlifting gorilla would probably deadlift 5,000 pounds and bench press 5,000 pounds. The new muscled up mass monster gorilla would make all the Mr. Olympia contenders envious.😅

Most of the strength metrics cited are garbage and meaningless. No doubt the average Silverback is stronger than even the strongest human, but the figures and estimates cited are off the wall, vague, and with no context.

From what I've watched, zoos track their weights for health reasons I'm sure. I've seen weights ranging from 350 pounds to nearly 500 pounds. One Silverback weighing 480 pounds was climbing, then holding himself up with the fingers of one hand, and he looked comfortable doing it. He wasn't struggling, just hanging there showing off!

I agree ...Of course idk for sure but even though gorilla's may eat tough plant materials like roots and bamboo , I still think a lion would have a stronger bite due to them using there Jaws more in fighting and taking down water buffalo

@@jessicasanchez5765 Still not enough to prove claims that Gorillas can lift 4000lbs. Elite human athletes can do the same thing with 1/3 the bodyweight. Endurance doesn't equate to overall physical strength. 1500-2000lbs I can accept for a 400-500lbs animal, but not 2x that amount.

Fun fact. Some gorillas that live around humans or see them frequently, will start to notice similarities between us and them. They'll basically see us as a weird hairless version of themselves. So much so, that often times, a family of Gorillas that meets up with a group of tourists, will actually see the tourists as just one big, odd family of neighbors
