As a broke college student, I appreciate you repping us within the watch community! It's a breath of fresh air to see a more casual watch enthusiast who can enjoy the bottom of the barrel offerings like Timex as well. (Loved your Timex video btw. I totally agree that the best value for money doesn't necessarily come from specs, but from brand heritage and that indescribable personal connection towards a watch.) To say the least, I'm very glad to have found your channel. All the best to you and your channel! Jack

Thanks a lot! I have actually created this channel with that exact purpose in mind, it's great to see it has come across! Timex is one of my favorite brands for my deeply personal connection with it, and yeah that personal connection goes beyond specs and hard facts. It's why I personally love this hobby!

@@watcharc9569 100%. Watching your Timex video actually made me dig up my old garbage quartz Timex Expedition that is absolutely irreplaceable due to the sentiment attached to it (it was my first ever watch, and I got it from my father, who wore it in his 20's) and I still adore it, maybe even more now. And after watching this video, I immediately got onto ebay to check out Lorus watches! If that's not the sign of great watch videos, idk what is. :D Keep up the good work!

Wow that's awesome! So cool to know I inspired you to dig up an old watch. Have fun with your expedition! Wearing mine right now actually!

I have an inexpensive Lorus and it only occurred to me a couple of days ago that I have never set the time except after a battery change. It stays within a minute for years on end.

This is something to be found in the guitar market too. "Squier" is the sub-brand of Fender, "Epiphone" is the sub-brand of Gibson. "Applause" is the sub-brand of Ovation - you get the idea 🙂 Like, watches though, sometimes a rare model from the sub-brand becomes collectible and can command higher prices than the parent.

I don't know about the other sister brands, but Seiko and Orient are actually different companies with different management, design, and production facilities. They are really different and competing companies despite Seiko being at the top of the corporate umbrella. Seiko neither approves Orient's designs nor oversees its operations. Sister may apply but in a different way than it does to the others. At least, this is my understanding. Me? I own a Seiko 5 field watch I bought back when they were about $80. I also own to Orients one is a dress watch without a nickname and the other is a Ray II. I love them both and wouldn't love them more if they bore a Seiko name and logo.

this Vagary watch has such a great design! Add a cosc certified movement and sapphire crystal which it probably doesn't have and it's a winner!

I always thought Seiko was the parent company to Orient? Lorus are really good, had a field watch and currently have a chronograph from them and its not bad. Never heard of Vagary but it seems like a decent watch.
@watcharc95692 жыл бұрын
No actually they are just both owned by the same company but they are two separate entities

I'm fairly sure that Seiko owns Epson. Daiwa Seiko produced an electronic printer for printing time measurements. They renamed the part of the company that made printers "son of electronic printer" or Epson Orient was a separate company until it was bought by Epson. Seiko produces many brands of watches including, Pulsar, Lorus, and Orient. It is all very confusing because they regularly reorganize the company but that is the way it is this month.
@davidcrandall12852 жыл бұрын
Orient is not owned by Seiko watches,they are owned by Seiko Epson electronics! Jappanese karetsu are not configured like American company's!
@edmunddantes47572 жыл бұрын
I think orient is its own beast with its own movement etc. Seiko epson corp took over ownership of orient but i dont think they are sister brands.

Like & subscribed.haven't worn a watch for many years.had enough of reaching for a phone for the time.a quick glance at wrist is so much more efficient.I'm looking at Lorus titanium field watch ,possibly the SS with all the light..most likely titanium & switch the band out for a metal band like the one one the 2/watches above. Dk of bands are available in titanium also .just started shopping around .I prefer to wear my watch on the bottom of my wrist. So looking for a band that looks good on the top. Good job on the video..ps.not a collector.my unkle was though..I inherited some of his watches.he was a hobbyist pilot,diver,among other things .some of the watches have solid gold ,or at least 18kt cases.I have them put away right now.cant remember the brand names right now..the divers a.huge,& the gold are smaller.thought they were ladies watches at first because of the smaller sizes but did some research & found out that men wore smaller watches back on the day..all are in exilant condition.dk what I will do with them. Anywho,have a good one. Burke.NC.USA

Available mostly here, in Eastern Europe 🙂A simple analog Q&Q watch with Miyota quartz movement, sapphire(!) glass and stainless steel case costs around 20-22 EUR in our shops. The three cheapest brands here are Q&Q (10+ EUR), Lorus (20+ EUR) and Casio (25+ EUR). Ofc Aliexpress is even cheaper, but anything under 10 EUR is a 100% sure terrible quality. I just found your cool YT reviews, thanks for the detailed videos 👍
