I’m a licensed cosmetologist, specializing in natural hair care, and also have sisterlocks, you are so transparent and on point., that’s why we all love your channel! My hair was 12 inches long and I paid $2250. But I loved mine from day one., $2000. For installation and $250 for tip, don’t freak out, I’ve gotten great tips like that for the services I’ve rendered for high price services, but your hair is beautiful and so is mine, enjoy the process ❤

I'm so glad you understood! I wear a lot of hats as well, especially when I'm dressing up and going out, which is nice because I love hats. But it was influenced by my SLs. I'm still adjusting and figuring out new ways to wear my hair and dress but it's an exciting adventure now! ☺️

@@NJoy621 $2500😮! That is expensive. I paid $650 and she charge me $625. $25/hr for retightening. She said she is going up on her install pricing, but keep retightening the same. She does not want to overcharge or price gouge people. I love her because I would not have been able to afford. I needed this because my hair was thinning and I didn’t want to cut my hair.

Hi. I agree! My Locs were a game changer! 12 years in and I love my Locs! My "chicken phase" was up and down. I did not find them appealing at all. I am so glad that when I did not like them I decided to give them time. That time resulted in me loving my decision. I have maintained my locs for 12 years! I like keeping my money 💵 in my pocket. I do not miss visits to the BS stores nor a Loctician. I love not being afraid of the ☔ rain anymore.🤭 I only use water, edge control rarely, grapeseed oil and rosewater.(sometimes) I still binge watch loc videos. I'm still excited about having locs! Thx for Sharing!

Thank you so much for posting this video! I'm going to get sisterlocs or some type of locs and I'm doing A LOT of research. Your video gave great points not heard before. I appreciate it. There is some concerns. I have fine hair too. Grey hair does that after losing it's Melanin so I'm not looking forward to the scalpy phase at the beginning (or however long it takes to get over it). However, I'm over the work and time styling takes and am excited about this new freedom. It's gonna look great with my grey hair and will keep me looking "fresh". I'll continue my research while looking for someone to do the install. Any tips you have on that would be appreciated. Thanks again for sharing your journey and your guidance!

You are so welcome Queen! I don't have advice on finding someone to install your sisterlocks because I literally stumbled upon my consultant (she lived across the street from me) Honestly, I did no research before getting mine installef and I realize that was a mistake. I'm ok now, but I had a lot of unknowns and surprises, for lack of a better word, that made me wonder if I'd made a mistake. If I just did what you are doing and watched some videos, I would have been better prepared.

I’m currently going through every feeling you described. At 3 months in, I’m not feeling it and my struggle is real. Most days I don’t like my hair and wear a ponytail due to lack of styling ability. My edges are fine and I lost a loc on my edges today as a result I believe. That was devastating for me and further making me question my decision to sisterlock. Please keep me in your prayers! 😂

Yes I can agree, I was so torn about my sister Loc journey. I felt like they were ugly , I hate a retie . I have finer hair and a retie makes me look scalpy. It’s been 6 years now for me and now my hair is to my bra . They look so different yet I wish I had traditional palm rolled Locs. Sisterlocs are tightly woven bumpy knots and a palm rolled Loc would have given me the illusion of fuller hair . I get a lot of compliments but It’s not what I want. Good luck you guys on your journey

i identified so much with this video. Esp the part that you tried everything and the hair is just stuck...that even with natural hair all I did would put my hair in a bun (or press once a year and that would even last only for 3 days),. Nothing was making sense. I was sick of all my hair products taking up half the bottom cabinet and a storage container. im 7 weeks post my establishment and loving it and the FREEDOM.

I know how you feel 😢my edges are so thin around my hairline so I'm very self conscious pulling my hair back. So I try to hide it all the time. I have to have my hair up for work so it's sonhard trying to figure out styles that don't show those thin edges. It's definitely from hairstyles that i should have stayed away from but got anyways. I'm just praying that they grow back thicker and longer so I can get more added in front. Just wearing a ponytail or puff is my goal!

Do you still get your reties every 6 weeks? How is that working for you? I go every 3 months. Every 6 weeks I find my scalp recovering . 3 months have been a charm for me.

So true! My sisterlocs are the cheapest hairstyle I've ever managed. It is a style that keeps paying for itself!
