dude...i'm feeling special! Great video man! As said, it's the collective positioning of stop losses at obvious points that creates liquidity pools and hence, stop hunts (because every buyer needs a seller and every seller needs a buyer). I also understand it as the market maker (liquidity provider) algorithms offering prices to fill orders. If the liquidity is dried up then the next set of resting orders will be offered (buy and sell stops in the form of stop losses), so we get these spikes in price as many stops are hit and their orders are matched with the new ones coming in. .... or something like that. Thanks man

Liquidity. It's all about that. I recommend that if a person 'feels' like their stop is getting hunted to just move their entry point up to where they would normally place their stop. Try it. It takes the stop hunting out of the equation, and then there is only that the market is moving against the position at that point. Conservative entries suck b/c they often miss the move, but they rarely are at risk to "stop hunting." Which is bigger, opportunity loss or frequent stops? Everyone has to math that for themselves within their setups. They also have to size up what negatively affects them psychologically less, and go with that. Frustration does mount up and can screw over reasonable trade ideas.

Hey man. great video ! I used and still use, ATR configured and presented differently. It is great for stop losses. But, in my approach, market structure used in confluence with Fibs and Vol, works amazing for TP setting. There is structure and there is noise in the market and.... there are also liquidity runs in the market. Exactly for the reasons you mocked. That also seemed idiotic to me... But it's not manipulation whatsoever. It's impossible at this scale! unless we live in a dome and the world ends if I go in a stright line. I use the popular "technical name": manipulation. But in reality it is just big money using the least amount of resources, with information available in the open market, to get their positions closest to the size they desire. You trade every TF. Maybe try having 2 TFs at the same time and start watching how the structure forms. My main chart is W/H4/M15/M1 ... You can see

The super secret mindset. Or the reaaaaaaaally secret mindset! Yes, thats it. I always love how people (myself) get into trading, and base our knowledge about a subject that has been around for a little-bit of time...and think we've found a holy grail. That shooting star candle stick has sucked up all the liquidity at the top of the move. AND its overbought!!! yes. Selling short on Margin!!! its gunna be butter!! Somehow, that shot of the earth was profound and really helped your point move along. I didnt get the sheep metaphor (j/k) Did you just use psychology on me? great video ImanTrading. Also - a little opinion for me. Does stop hunting occur? Perhaps. I think there are too many reasons institutions take trades. Think about the fact that any second of the trading day, at any price, at all time highs, or all time lows, an institutions will take the other side of your trade. It could be a hedgefund rebalancing. It could be Mark Zuckerburg liquidating to pay for another lawyer. It could be another retail trader (unlikely). It could be a High freq trading institutions scalping off the 15 sec chart, or based on no chart, while you on the daily chart see a buy zone. There is no way to know this and therefore in my opinion, no reason to believe that you got stopped out for any other reason than price hit your order. Personally, I chose to believe SL hunting is only an defensive idea retail traders worry about. Im prob wrong about that last theory. And what are these damn red squiggly lines under all my typing.

Yes stop loss hunting does exist. But it only happens when the expenditure to shares desired reaches the correct ratio, which it may not. Smart money get it wrong too... sometimes. Couple this with the fact that there must be manipulation at the opposite side of the stop run to facilitate a run of the stops. It's more of a reaction than planned by those who initiate the stop runs. It is true, I know those who did it for an occupation, and one who currently does it today.

He had a nice video out recently about mentality and discipline. But I do see your point in the previous comments about not showing live trades! How do you go about with fundamental analysis? How would a beginner or someone fairly new use FA and TA to make better trading decisions? I know I can google it...but I do love it when you explain things 🥰
@ImanTrading2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! As for fundamental analysis, the only thing a trader should really care about are news events. No matter what you’re trading, there are some types of external forces that will have an impact. I’m pretty sure I didn’t come up with this, but I’m not sure where I learned it: technical analysis goes out the window when fundamentals are driving price. Technical analysis is completely useless when Russia invading Ukraine is driving the price of the market. Most traders don’t care about FA, because we aren’t holding positions very long. For TA, most of it doesn’t work. I’d recommend watching my video on that. It helps us understand a story that price action is already telling us. There is no indicator that brings hidden information to our eyes... they only illuminate what is already in front of us. They are just equations. Support and resistance are great until they aren’t, but they can keep us from making bad decisions about directional movements. 😁

If you look at the stats for many brokers and prop firms, most people don’t use stop losses. So how does a small percentage of peoples stop losses getting triggered actually move a trillion dollar market?
@ImanTrading2 жыл бұрын
Good point, which reinforces that we overestimate the validity of stop loss hunting! For futures, you don’t need a ton of money to move ES. You only have to absorb a few ticks sometimes to get it down to a potential stop loss spot, so that might only require absorbing 10 contracts. The margin requirement for that is usually $5,000 total. So it wouldn’t take a huge amount of money, but, like I tried to point out in the video, I doubt it’s happening like people claim it does just based on what’s reasonable.

I can tell you that stop hunting is a thing, but you’re right, very not likely with instruments like CL or ES at least as anything but a liquidity grab. Early in my day trading career,one of my go to’s was Spirit Airlines (SAVE). After the excitement died down from its IPO, it was a notoriously, low, volume non-very liquid stock that often carried a somewhat sizable Intra day spread (10 cents at times). It was almost comical, The number of times I would enter a position, put in a stop loss, and within seconds my stop loss would get wiped out. And price would have right back to where it was. All I was left with was a wonder of “What the hell was that??” And and a one minute candle with a long wick. So yes, individual stop hunting did/does happen on low volume instruments. Future’s markets stop hunting does happen, but it’s part of a broader liquidity grab.

He gives a false representation of what trading is like, and his videos appeal to beginners. He represents a large side of KZbin that doesn’t care about helping people. Do you ever see him in the comments helping people? He makes videos for himself for money, not because he had good information to give. The trading things he shares don’t work, but he does it with such confidence and ambiguity that viewers will keep coming back for the next video. hey 👋 I couldn't understand the last part you said that they could enter into trade without enough slippage and there is enough liquidity to sustain the size of the order
@ImanTrading2 жыл бұрын
Hey! So, if there are 30 limit orders at 4400, and, if the price gets pushed down there, someone could initiate a a 30 sized order. That’s just hypothetical though, since there’s always going to be more than just 1 person buying or selling. If there were only 10 limit orders at 4400, another 10 at 4399.75, and another 10 at 4399.50, then price would have to move down to 4399.50 for that person to get filled on all 30 contracts. So, instead of getting 30 at 4400, they’d have 30 at an average cost of 4399.75. They would’ve got slipped an average of 1 tick per order. Hypothetically. In the real market, it wouldn’t be as mathematically simple as that. Those numbers don’t include the 1 tick spread. That make sense?

Lmao what do you have against the secret mindset? I used to enjoy his videos years ago, and I look at all teachers generally to glean whether is a component that a person understands incredibly well but is missing a ton of shit making him likely unprofitable. That one piece from them can be the missing piece for a scheme chunk of data in your mind or at least give you ideas to try and abstractions that might solve for other variables. I find it highly useful to view it as a perfect data set, meaning if you're a deterministic minded person, there should be relationships that can be observed in collection (lucky for us, different time frames offer us varying scope of complexity, so scaling determinism and complexity up time frames kind of seems logical if we believe that higher time frames are generally the leaders over the lower time frames on overall direction, but many variables can determine what goes on from swing to swing. Lower time frames, if dissected, may show types of formations (like how a doji acts like it went nowhere but if you drill down in time frames a pretty complex switcheroo has kinda formed and becomes a powerful level in future. If you believe in any of what I'm talking about, try marking market structure not only horizontally, but also on different angles (like the example about that guy with the perfect trendline. If you are able to take trend lines you've noticed, but not use them as barriers but instead as angles of analysis. Try taking multiple copies of this trend line and map out a 3d market structure. I'll tell you, it works. Multiple analysis methods actually work on other planes, it's eerie. I'm not a person to believe in a God, but seeing many times where price can come to a specific marked area and turn on a dime (to the penny sometimes) with some theories of physics and quantum physics, seeing how the complexity of where you might determine to enter can work on multiple planes, and sometimes the intersection of the two lines, intersections of 2 different slopes for some two tangents of a price/time relationship. It makes you believe in intelligent design to some degree.

@ericrussell7961 Жыл бұрын
If Todd's a big boy it's simple as to why he doesn't push the price lower. As the price falls and you see volume increasing and or spiking, that's Todd buying into his position. It's going to take Todd days or weeks to get into his position without pushing the price up. If Todd is only a medium boy and wants to go all in and push the price down, the big boys would welcome that. So if Todd's a big boy, he already knows his price range to get in. If he's a medium boy, he's not an idiot so he's not going to go against big money. I kind of like your channel for calling people out. What is it that you offer? 6:36 you say you're not showing volume because it doesn't matter. Really? Volume price analysis doesn't matter? Volume price analysis doesn't matter? Analog volume spread analysis doesn't matter? Swing analysis doesn't matter?

Price falls to $9.97 then rises to $10.05. For a brief period I look foolish. A few candles latter price is $9.75 and while my $10 exit wasn't the best exit, it was still wise to exit. It is easily worth the "danger" of being hunted. Price can absolutely continue past my stop without ever bouncing. With no hard stop price could go to $9.00 never giving me an opportunity to exit.
